    Hudson Valley Windows & Siding

If you're looking for a window guy in the Hudson Valley, you can stop looking. You've found Dave at…read moreHudson Valley Windows & Siding. I can't express to you what a pleasure it is to deal with him. He's super honest, super personable (has stories for days), and does amazing work. I wish I could say he did some of that amazing work for me, but it's a weird story: Our annoying HOA forces us to keep appearances up with our neighbors. Everything has to be just so, and our windows needed to be energy efficient. Our windows already looked great, but I have to abide by the HOA or else. So I called up Dave to get a quote on how much it would cost to upgrade the windows. We had a great conversation, he knew the area, and the sort of job, and like I said, he was an absolute pleasure to talk to. We picked a day, and he said he'd check it out and give me a quote. After he went out there to take a look, he asked if I wanted to the good news or the bad news. The Good News: The windows were already super energy efficient. He knows because he had put them in himself for the previous tenant a few years back. What a coincidence! The Bad News: He wasn't going to make any money on this job. Which, if you're paying attention, you may realize was also really good news for me. Dave could've just straight up done the job again and made more money (as some dishonest folks would've), but instead but he got a laugh out of me, and a customer for life. I will be calling him for every window job from here on out, and I think you should too.

As with every type of appointment for construction services you normally enter into a conversation hesitant wondering who is this guy, and will he give me a good price, a good job, stand behind work, or just give me a crappy job and run with my money, never to be heard from again. We've all heard the stories. Dave arrived at my home, introduced himself and we talked at great length about our siding project, and he did a walk around the home just to evaluate the job. He came back in, did a little figuring on a piece of paper, and gave us a price on the spot. While we knew not what to expect about the cost, we were somewhat surprised as it seemed a little over what we had budgeted. We talked a little longer and he explained in great detail what was needed and what he was going to do, he explained the funding and how it would work and he left. We thanked him for his time, his explanations, and his proposal and told him we would be in touch. After Dave left my wife and I sat down and discussed the project, the cost, and the timeline, as we wanted to get the project done before September this year. You know that everyone says, "Never take the first proposal, get prices, get multiple proposals, etc". We didn't know what it was exactly, but my wife and I both felt really good about our visit with Dave and so we decided to call him back the next day and enter into a contract. Not to make this review to long, the project was scheduled and actually took place a week earlier than expected. Dave anticipated a 5 day project, and they finished up in 4 days. His guys were like busy bees, only stopping for a 30 minute lunch break each day. Very professional, knew their profession, and did not need constant oversite. Dave's supervisor on the job Louis knew the job and knew the timeline and was sure to make it happen. While Dave was on the site almost every day, I think he thinks of himself as the cleanup crew picking up and taking garbage almost every day. There was no language barrier between the workers and me, and everyone on the job was eager to please. Dave made every effort to assure that the finished project was worthy of our praise, even adding a few things not originally negotiated in the contract. While the project was not considered a large project, it had alot of intricate details that took extra time to work around. My wife and I cannot express enough our level of satisfaction with Dave and his guys. They did what they said they would do, and most likely more that we didn't even know about. Great job, great contractor, and great value for the money. The project was worth every penny spent. I see now why much of Dave's business is return customers. We would/will certainly use him again if the need arises. Not to lengthen this review longer I would only like to add, that Dave is human, he is not a robot and his speech is not rehearsed. We learned alot about his family, his dogs, etc. and we felt he was true to form, just a good guy to work with. Highly recommend. I genuinely cannot recommend JKR Construction highly enough. They are one of those rare contractors…read moreyou find and then never want to use anyone else. My experience with them actually began years before my full roof replacement, when I had a leak that had been an ongoing problem for years. Other contractors were telling me I would need to replace my skylights and spend thousands of dollars. JKR came out, correctly identified where the water was actually getting in, and fixed the problem without trying to sell me work I didn't need. That repair never leaked again. They saved me thousands of dollars then, and their honesty was the reason they were the first people I called when my roof eventually reached the point that it truly needed to be replaced. The full roof replacement only reinforced how much I trust them. Joe was completely upfront about what my roof needed and what the job would cost. Their proposal included the extensive plywood replacement my roof required rather than giving me an attractive initial price and then surprising me with thousands of dollars in additional charges once the roof was opened. Their pricing was extremely fair and, more importantly, transparent. The skylights are another perfect example of the kind of company JKR is. This time, the two skylights really did need to be replaced, but the existing openings were not standard sizes. Custom replacement skylights would have been extraordinarily expensive. Instead of simply passing that enormous cost on to me, Joe and his team figured out a way to rework the openings so that standard-size skylights could be installed. That solution alone saved me thousands and thousands of dollars. It's exactly the kind of problem-solving and consideration for the homeowner's money that I have come to expect from them. The workmanship and work ethic of the entire crew were exceptional. Alberto and the crew were incredible. They were here every day, worked incredibly hard and often worked late. This was a major project, including replacing a tremendous amount of plywood, and they used high-quality materials throughout. They protected my property during the work and cleaned up meticulously, even coming inside to clean dust that had settled from all the work being done above. They were equally wonderful about the gutters. There was a particular issue with how the front of my house needed to drain, and I really did not want a downspout placed where the obvious solution would have put it. Rather than telling me that was simply how it had to be done, they listened to me, worked through the problem, and pitched everything properly so that it functioned without compromising the appearance of my house. But what distinguishes JKR most for me is trust. I have dealt with enough contractors to know how difficult that is to find. Joe and his team have had multiple opportunities over the years to tell me I needed expensive work, add costs once a project began, or take the easiest solution. They didn't. Instead, they have repeatedly found ways to save me money while still doing the job correctly and using quality materials. I have already recommended JKR to friends and family, and I will continue to do so. I honestly would not trust anyone else with my roof. If I could give them more than five stars, I would.

Even the big name company that installed my roof 2 years ago wouldn't do the work. JKR was happy to get the business and was fairly priced. My job took them only a couple hours and they did clean work. No issues since they finished. I won't hesitate to call them again if I have roofing projects.
