While stopping at the ATM, a vehicle owned by this company completely blocked my car as i got in by parking diagonally  in front of me, illegally. I had to yell twice at him if he could please move  his car, he turned around and said  I have enough  room and continued to go inside towards the ATM as if it wasn't  his problem. Mind you before he got there, another car was already parked right behind me, therefore in order to get out, i would have to drive back and forth a few times and even jump on the curb . When I explained he is not the first contractor that has been here and no one else deemed these issues. Luis then told me why my estimate would be very expensive. Luis went on to argue he has the best warranty. When I told him it was not as good as others, he told me that they must be lying. Luis told me he would email the estimate by the weekend. On 5/2 I texted him for an update. I did not get an answer and followed up on 5/4. I was told by the next day. I followed up again on 5/7 as I still do not have the estimate. At this time, I'm not going to use Brothers considering the I tip contact and lack of follow through.

I will give credit where credit is due his team did a nice job on my siding and roof replacement but after spending tens of thousands of dollars and signing a contract to remodel my kitchen, put in new staircases and hardwood floors throughout my house (that's where I went wrong and the stress began) he offered to redo the roof on my small shed for $450. $450 for something that would have taken 30 mins to do. Really? His team was there, he had the extra material and all the business we contracted him to do he couldn't afford one concession? As we move into the interior remodel things get progressively worse. I could write a book about all the wrong doings but here are some excerpts of the most unbelievable occurrences: Note: you will notice that all communication with Mark was via text as he was never onsite and believe it or not he never even came to see the finished job. The texts are another story, I can't believe that a service provider would say the nastiest, obnoxious thing in writing. I have a huge file - you never know when you may need evidence 1) We agreed on a price to replace my existing flooring in 5 rooms and replace with hardwood floors. Which to me means rip up existing flooring, level and prep floor and lay new flooring. Well it didn't mean that same thing to him. He charged me more $ to remove the existing hardwood floor before lay the new floor (which I paid) and then wanted to charge me more $ to level the floor after he removed the ceramic tiles (which after an unprofessional, nasty ping pong of texts I refused to pay) 2). I wanted my pendant lights centered over my island which the carpenter sketched out on the sub flooring. Well the electrician he contracted missed the mark by 4 1/2" lengthwise and width wise. When I texted him about it he questioned my credibility and said "weren't you there when he was doing the work? ". I guess he thought I should be the acting contractor and pay him for my services. And he demonstrated annoyance about having to fix the problem now that the ceiling was already installed. He viewed this as being my fault. 3. After the hardwood floors and cabinets were installed he installed the kick heater under the kitchen sink cabinet instead of having a plumber do it (cutting corners). Well it sprung a leak that went unnoticed for 2 day; warping the floor. As a result everything had to be deinstalled, new floor ordered and installed - delaying completion a week. 4. Per our contract he was to buy the paint and paint the new kitchen. Since the adjoining room needed to be painted he offered to paint them as well. His painter suddenly become ill so instead of hiring another painter by trade he had a non-trade person paint - he didn't sparkle any hole and when I questioned it he had to text Mark before patching the holes. Mark told him to take pics of the hole because he was only responsible for the new walks he installed so if the hole were in the adjoining rooms he was not going to fix them. What?? If you offer to do a job should you do it properly - I don't think that's unreasonable. Well the guy did it anyway but it was an unnecessary argument. Also I should add the guy showed up with 1 can of ceiling paint - no drop clothes or paint brushes. I had to buy the paint and provide the tools. As per our contract Mark was supposed to install my new staircases, finish the treads and banisters and sparkle/paint the risers (which he charged me extra for). He installed the staircases, and hired someone to finish the treads but didn't sparkle and paint the riser - I had to do it myself and certainly didn't get a refund. When the guy who finished the stair treads he scratched the newly installed wrought iron balusters. When I texted Mark about it he responded with "give me a break with your scratches". In the end 7 balusters has to be replaced and he had to pay.

I got a few estimates, and dealt with a lot of roofers who took forever to inspect and write up the estimates. Tom and Lorraine are different: They are immediately accessible by phone, and the nicest people you'll ever talk to, and responded fast -- Tom gave me an estimate in a day (which was 1K less than the nearest estimate), and we scheduled the job to start in a week. They came on time -- even early -- to start the job, and finished in two days as promised. I admit, I didn't think they could do it in two days, but they did. People worry about a total tear-off being a mess, and I was worried about that, too. Four layers of shingle dating back to god knows when, plus the old rotting shakes. And yet, by the time they left (at dark!), the entire job site was cleaned up as if they hadn't been there. The care these guys take is above and beyond. Two things I think are important to mention: Tom walked us through the job, showed us everything they did, and responded to every question my wife or I had. He runs the business and was on-site to make sure it was done right. And it was -- working on an old house is no picnic, and their ability to re-roof and fix the (many) little problems, and keep the existing gutters, it was just incredible. The second thing: This was an insurance job. And when the insurance company pushed back on paying the second half of the bill, an e-mail from Loraine (a few weeks after the job was finished) solved the issue. This is why I'm writing such a long review - these people will go out of their way to make strangers feel like friends. People don't do business like this anymore, at least not in Rockland Co. I feel lucky to have met them, and am proud to have an Affordable Roofing sign in front of the house.
