We were responsible for the purchase of the tub, tiles, niche background, and shower fixture, and tub installation kit. The estimate noted that the job would be completed in 4-6 days. This 4-6 day job was not completed by the 9th day due to the staff working half days, not coming due to car issues and by the 9th day, the staff still had not properly replaced the shower handle they lost, they caused damage to our bathroom tile, and damaged the new water spout for the tub. Furthermore, the electrical work for the exhaust fan was not done. After discussion with my husband, we decided that we did not want Jason or his staff back in our home as we were not pleased with the quality of work done, the damage to bathroom floor tile, and for the poor solution to replacing the shower fixture that his employees lost(instead of replacing the shower handle with a handle to properly fit the shower, they used a standard handle and pried it open to fit the shower mount). In the end Jason, did deduct money from the final balance owed but that doesn't take away from the poor experience we had working with his company. While Jason was apologetic, we selected him because of the reviews online. I would hate to see someone else go through what we went through without being properly informed. I do not feel like this job was done properly, or managed properly. I would surely say that I will never hire another company based on online reviews. I just can't trust it. This experience really made me disinterested in hiring anyone that is not referred to us by words of mouth.

Part of the agreement included filling in all cracks before sealing, but several were left untouched. He also promised to apply two coats of sealant but barely managed one -- and the coverage was noticeably uneven. His equipment broke down multiple times (including different machines), causing a four-day delay in what should have been a straightforward job. It was clear throughout the process that he lacked the necessary knowledge and expertise for the work. To make matters worse, he caused a scene at the end, demanding payment despite the poor quality and incomplete work. We do not recommend Richards General Contracting for any commercial or professional sealing projects.

I am late getting to this review but I wanted to put in my two or three cents about Tom and his…read morecompany. For the negative reviewers, I am not family to Tom, not one of his Facebook friends, etc. Nor have I been offered a gift card. I was introduced to him by another contractor whom I've known for a number of years and trust his judgement. We had to take on a roof project when we had a slow leak destroy a corner of our laundry room. When I took apart the ceiling it was obvious that this had been going on for a while. We'd had this fixed previously though the water had found a way to come back and had gotten much more serious. This occurred about March timeframe so it was problematic getting someone to come out. Tom came out with Alex and did a thorough check of the roof, found the area in question, and provided options. The part of the roof with problems wasn't quite a flat roof but wasn't pitched enough to always shed water. We wanted something we would never have to worry about again, plus while we were fixing this one side we figured on just doing the whole thing and making it right. Tom gave us a few different options. We did also contact a couple other roofing companies to get competing quotes. We decided to go with Tom because we felt the price was fair for the value - not cheap, or cheapest but well explained as to what was going to be done. We also had a solar installation to remove, and Tom knew of a firm that could do this (which ended up being the same people the solar company recommended). It took almost 6 weeks to get the requisite approvals from the town thanks to the 'Rona, but once that was done, we made our down payment and then maybe only another 2 weeks to get everything ordered and on-site. The crew ended up having to strip the roof down which was an unexpected add-on but not egregious. (This actually helped to ensure that we were able to get the water damaged area completely taken care of later.) The crew brought a big dump trailer and tarped off all of my gardens around the house. Considering what came off the house (two layers of shingles, tarpaper, drip edges, flashing, nails, etc.) they did a pretty good job keeping stuff from getting everywhere. There were a couple of spots where it wasn't perfect but they took care of it. The team that did the roof was extremely polite and professional. They came to the house early, worked their butts off all day, and stayed late. They definitely understood the technical aspects of the roof system and ensured that the components were applied in the right order, using the correct methods. It was easy to see they took pride in what they were doing. The results were outstanding. First and foremost, no more leaks (there was a false alarm on this but more about that in a bit). Second, the job they did was professional and looks great. The small details were well taken care of. Third, I had no issues getting a hold of Tom, Alex, or the team working on the house. I always knew what was going on. This extended to after the job was done. About 6 weeks after this finished, it had rained heavily and I discovered some water damage to a bathroom ceiling. Naturally, I thought something was wrong with the roof. So I texted Tom and asked him about it. He said he would be right on it. Alex called me in 5 minutes and set up a time to come take a look. Long story short, it wasn't the roof but the way the original plumber did the vent. Fixing the roof just exposed the problem with the way the vent was installed. I would recommend Tom and TH for roofs without reservation.

We needed someone who was above all honest, trustworthy, and made things easy. We were very nervous because the work we were having done was much more than we had engaged someone to do before, and everyone has heard a horror story about a contractor / bad home project. Our project was a finished half of our basement, including a full bath, mini-split HVAC, new electrical panel and framing around mechanicals that meant creating a mini-boiler room. The work that Eric's team did came out beautifully, the electrical and plumbing team he used was top notch, and we have a space we are very happy with. It seemed almost miraculous to us that with Eric, there really *was* nothing to worry about. What he said would happen, happened. When we had a question, we called him -- and he always took our calls and responded, fast, not to mention he was always up for a good laugh. He made practical recommendations that met what we said we needed, his people showed up when he said, and the work got done while staying completely out of our hair. It is true what their site says, that NEC is a family-run, long time business in this area, and it shows. Eric is a great guy, fun person to talk to, and he takes true pride in his work, as does his family who work with him every day. If you have a job that really matters to you, then I recommend you get a true general contractor, and that is definitely Eric. Perhaps the highest recommendation of all is, we've hired NEC to do more work for us and, to be honest, would have a hard time using anybody else given how happy we are with them.
