-------HONEST TESTIMONIAL --- BEWARE---HONEST TESTIMONIAL--------…read moreIn my opinion, and according to the information provided to me by this businesses' answering service the owner name is Edwin Barros. This business used to go under Barros Inc. in Middletown, NY with the same owner and now goes by Barros Construction and Remodeling Inc. out of New Hampton, NY. Another consumer clue would be their website stating although it is a fairly new business, they are skilled. When I contacted the owner Edwin of Barros, Inc. for repair on a siding installation defect he advised that the business had moved and these two cities are close in distance. With this being said, I am now leaving a "real honest life" testimonial of my opinion on the company's workmanship. I hired and contracted Barros, Inc. for the work and had to spend more money for the repair of that work. The company was contracted for new siding installation, installing PVC boards, fascia soffit and new gutter installation. They failed to install flashing which is part of basic siding installation guidelines according to the NYS Vinyl Siding Institute Guidelines and Mastic Siding Manufacturer Guidelines and they left several holes in my new roof where the owner admitted his crew did not properly close after they hooked onto the house with scaffolding. At that time, his form of repairing the new roof was to have his worker lift the shingle and place a small piece of aluminum with tons of roofing glue and not replace the destroyed shingles. I then had to contract another business out to replace a total of 8 shingles. Barros, Inc. also failed to properly cut the length to the gutters and seal the gutters. I have leaking gutters that are an inch short in certain places. I have hired many contractors and this is on the lower end of workmanship. I recently called Edwin for repair and advised him of wind driven rain water being trapped behind the siding due to the lack of flashing on his installation. I asked him if his guys used flashing and he said that he did not know but he will come to the house to inspect by the end of that week. He did not show to inspect or repair. Barros, Inc. also used pictures of my home without written permission or a contract clause to advertise and market a high-end home as their primary pic on the website. The homeowner DID NOT give any business permission to use this home for advertisement and a marketing tool. This is a homeowners violation of right to publicity. This is a perfect example of what contractors with poor workmanship do in order to continue to practice and rip hard working people off. They add more title to the name of their business and change their location. This is solely my experience and I would NOT recommend this business to anyone. This is an honest review of someone who is absolutely sick of contractors with poor workmanship. Although NYS Law, says you have 6 years to take civil suit against a contractor for installation defects, I have learned that most people read reviews online rather then go to court and pay to request records. I have given the business an opportunity to fix the repairs and they failed to do so.

They are an untrustworthy company and try to get out of messes by verbally attacking the home owner stating things that are not fact based. The home owner then spends time defending themselves while attention is taken away from the home issue and time is wasted. This is a pattern. There were issues for two years, but I am the one that figured out the ridge vent should not have been installed. They sold it to me by including it in the price for the roof, which was over $18,000. Another roofer said the ridge vent with install would have cost about $1,800 of that price. Home Pro never gave me refund. They act like they did me a favor by taking it out. I also have gable vents in the dormer and a ridge vent and gable vents work against each other. The ridge vent was pulling heat and air conditioning from my house causing my bills to double. Home Pro stated that they installed baffles for free, but each bay baffle cost $2.50. I could have done that myself. It was actually my idea. Home Pro had no idea how to vent the front attic. This was something that should have been addressed during the roof install. My roof has been baking for over two years and my warranty is currently void. I had to file a claim and a BBB complaint to further push Home Pro to remove the ridge vent. Owens Corning moved them out of Platinum installer status since my install. Home Pro promised they would open my soffit on a Saturday because I had to take off from work to get the ridge vent out. They never followed through. Until it is done, my warranty for the shingles is void. Ventilation was to be addressed at roof install and this is what gives the home owner a top transferrable warranty. This is a huge loss for me. They know with winter coming I cannot find someone last minute to open the soffit...something they should have done over two years ago. This further exposes my roof to damage, as well as ice damming which I have had only since the new roof. The owner was angry because I questioned why there was a gap in the ridge repair. He said that I should trust them and stop asking questions. They finished the repair by putting mod. bit and shingles, so no one can inspect it personally. They had reluctantly given me a few pictures because I kept asking. They did not like me questioning the gap in wood. So they told me that they will not open up the soffit now. This puts me in a bad position with cold weather. I had to ask an inspector via picture if the gap was okay, and the inspector said he would have liked to see it in person before closure. He said going by a picture is difficult- if a beam is under the repair it is "probably" okay. So I am hoping there is a beam there because I can't see through the dormer now. It is difficult to trust a company who cut into my roof needlessly, charged me for a ridge vent I didn't need, cost me time from work, and caused my heating and air bills to skyrocket because of their mistakes. Not only this but the top warranty I was sold is a scam because the ventilation at the soffit has not been addressed as they repeatedly promised. For two winters I have been on a ladder in ice trying to melt the ice from the gutter line. They never gave me a copy of the online contract I signed even when repeatedly asked. I am pretty sure this is illegal in NYS. They have pictures of my roof... a bunch... but they will not send them. I have only gotten a few. There also appears to be a broken air vent in the dormer - it looks to have been stripped during the roof install. There is a piece of insulation tied to it per the picture taken through the gable vent. There is no way the HVAC company could have done that 19 years ago because the only access they had was from a small hole in the front attic. They would not have been able to access that to tie anything. Home Pro would have had access when the roof was opened. Home Pro Exteriors is a horrible, untrustworthy company. Do yourself a favor... with all the companies out there take your business elsewhere. Home Pro does not respect your time or your home investment. They want to make quick money and hope no one notices their mistakes. They certainly don't like any questions. They will ignore you the minute they have no answer for the situation. They will put new jobs before fixing mistakes while your home gets ruined. Their promises are empty and just used to buy time so they can get out of doing the repair. Read the other reviews... some are very concerning. They have no respect towards their paying customers.
