Showed up On Wednesday which happens to be Fried Chicken lunch special. My husband had the chicken, beans (he said they were amazing!) I chose a hamburger steak with onions and gravy. I went for breakfast and it checked the boxes for a local diner. The coffee was excellent and the portions were generous. I had the 3-egg breakfast with bacon, sausage, and grits. It came with gravy, but I'm not much of a gravy person so I'd defer to others for that. Service was quick and staff were attentive. My coffee was very good and bold without being too strong. Stopped here to eat last weekend. We waited for nearly 15 minutes for someone to seat us. They knew we were there because we had eye contact as she walked by us to seat the folks in front of us. The entire time after that we could see the hostess talking with friends at a table , never once worried that there were guests waiting to be seated. We finally gave up and walked out. Driving through the area and decided to try a local spot for lunch. Service was fast and friendly. We ordered the southwestern egg rolls but were surprised to receive mac-n-cheese bites instead. They were delicious so we ate them even though that wasn't what we originally ordered. I was again surprised when I bit into the last piece of fried goodness and discovered it was a southwestern eggroll. Apparently they look the same and you can't tell the two apart. Anyway, the mac-n-cheese bites were better so it was a great mixup. The avocado chicken bacon salad was fresh and tasty. The croutons were homemade and buttery. We were in Searcy just to get some work done on a vehicle so we thought we'd get some brunch. When choosing restaurants out of town, I rely heavily on reviews and this one met that requirement. Rarely does that fail me but this time it did. It was just before 11 am so we (erroneously) thought a place only open until 2 pm would have brunch all day. Once were disappointed that they stopped serving brunch at that time, so we settled on salads with "world famous croutons" and avocados on them for $12.99. More disappointment when the small salads were served without croutons because the restaurant was out! We were offered crackers instead. To top it off, the salad that was supposed to have avocados had none on them and we had to ask. They forgot. Very nice people, but not a restaurant we recommend. It was one disappointment after another. Since I rely heavily on reviews, I decided to provide a review here so others know what they're getting. read more

In town for work, came here for the sole purpose of trying their chicken nachos. They absolutely did not disappoint, and it's slightly disconcerting that I probably could have ordered a second plate. The chips for the nachos are a flaky wonton chip consistency unlike your typical tortilla chips. So freakin good. Everything on the menu (and at other people's tables) looked amazing. We also had a piece of the peanut butter and chocolate thunder cake. So rich and indulgent and amazing, tasted like a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup in cake form. Omg. Stopped here for lunch about 11a( Wed, Dec 21. I live in J'ville, so it had been a few months since my last visit. I enjoyed the entree and sides then, and wasn't disappointed today! Out of the 3 specials, I elected to try the chicken strips with Mac n' cheese, and the white beans. Folks the food was hot when it hit the table, and the sides were great!!! The strips were tender, and dipped in ranch dressing, my meal was totally complete! The owner," KJ", was our server, and she was as busy as the others, tending to the customers as dedicated as ever, when she opened the place 16 years ago. The dining room is clean and homey, and all who work at KJ's ensure the tables are spotless. I called around 9:50 before we came because I was in the mood for lunch. They start serving lunch at 10:30. I really didn't want to wait but the reviews looked too good to pass up. I found this place by accident and I'm glad I found something to pass the time until it was time for lunch. Upon arrival, you walk right by their dessert case, FULL of yummy looking treats. We seat ourselves and wait on our server. We ended up getting the queso and chips as an appetizer which was a mistake. It was so good that we couldn't stop eating it until we were so full, that when the food finally arrived, we were ready for a nap, not more food. But we ate anywways. I ordered the fish plate and my son got a burger. The fish was delicious! Nice and crispy and fresh out of the hot fryer. It was served with slaw, French fries, and two hush puppies. I was NOT disappointed. The burger was hand crafted and full of juicy flavor. I know because after catching the scent of the burger, I had to try a bite for myself. I wanted some dessert so badly but after we tucked our leftovers ever so neatly in a carry out box, we almost had to be rolled out of there. I'm DEFINITELY going to have to go back. Sub par is generous with this restaurant. I can only assume this place is so crowded due to the fact it's the only place to eat in this town. I didn't ask for much with my order, a loaded hash brown with cheese, ham and bacon. It normally comes with that plus eggs, sausage, and other veggies. Our waitress was essentially non existent, we saw her when our drink order was taken and then when the food was brought out almost 30 minutes later. When she sat the plate in front of me I noticed it had eggs and sausage on it. I informed her that I had requested only cheese, ham, and bacon and that I'd like to send it back she wanted to argue with me saying that that's the way I had ordered it. Even as I write this review, she brought me back another plate and it was still incorrect. I told her that it still had sausage in it and she just grabbed the plate up very rudely and didn't say a word and took it back. I just asked that she take it off the ticket. I didn't expect much from this place but as my mother in-law stated, if you wait almost an hour for your food, you expect it to be correct. The only reason I gave 2 stars is the biscuit and gravy that come with the hash browns was pretty good...for frozen biscuits and packet gravy.
