We went to Kizuna while we were visiting family in California for Christmas and New Years. We met up with friends who it was also their first time coming to Kizuna. They took us in right away and helped us right away. The service was great. They had a pretty extensive menu also so there was a lot to choose from. All of us ordered and we waited just a little before our food carne out. We were a little stunned when the food came out because we were eating in the restaurant. All the food came out on paper plates with disposable silverware or disposable bowls. It definitely caught us off guard. I got the oyakodonbori and it was in a disposable bowl. We quickly got over the presentation when we tasted the food. It was really good. I enjoyed my oyakodonbori. Other people ordered the combination meals and they enjoyed their meal as well too. Overall it was a rather great meal and it was pretty affordable. So don't worry about the presentation, it tastes good, trust me.

I already had a good feeling about the food here right from arrival as the majority of people dining at the time were chatting in Japanese lol. A small, no-frills spot but sometimes these kinds of places have the comfiest of comfort food! --------------- Agedashi tofu: tofu was melt-in-your-mouth silky smooth and the broth was soothing and flavorful. Katsu curry: katsu was crispy with a uniform non-greasy bread coating and the curry sauce actually tasted house-made not being over-reliant on instant curry blocks like how some much-fancier Japanese restaurants are. Not strikingly salty and had a complex hearty taste. Curry udon: same great curry sauce with plump udon noodles. --------------- At the time of my visit (May of this year) there was very minimal waiter service with ordering being through QR code at the table. Self-service water station and bus own table before leaving. Unsure if any of these protocols have changed since my visit. Overall a nice place to chill with delicious no-fuss Japanese comfort food!

Pretty impressed by this restaurant's katsu curry! I got take-out on a Thursday evening. It wasn't too crowded - only 2-3 parties were dining in at the time. It's a pretty small, peaceful restaurant with a few tables inside and outdoor seating available as well. They seemed to be pretty busy with take-out orders. The cashier was very kind. I ordered a chicken katsu curry and it was ready in less than 10 minutes. Aside from the chicken katsu and curry (curry comes in separate container), they also included a side of salad, some mac salad, and some edamame. They also give pickled radish in a small container. I usually go for pork katsu, but the chicken katsu was delicious and more tender than I expected! The rice texture was good too, not too soggy and not too hard. Curry consistency was thick and not too watery, which I enjoyed. Overall I think the quality is really good here and I would definitely come back!

Such a hidden gem! It doesn't look like much at first glance but the curry here is amazing! The curry katsu is my favorite in the bay and the udon is really great as well. We came recently for a late Saturday lunch and found ourselves quickly seated. There's a few tables inside but this is also a great takeout spot. For a starter, we got the agadashi tofu which was light and perfectly fried. For entrees, the chicken katsu curry as well as the curry udon and both were fantastic. The chicken katsu was perfectly crispy outside and super juicy inside. Served with a rich curry sauce on the side (which is great to keep the chicken crisp), the set came with salad and mac salad as well. We'll definitely be back to try the pork katsu as well and excited to have found another go-to take out spot.

Kakiage udon Everything here was still Covid procedures. Had plastic plates, bowls, utensils. Had to self serve and clean up essentially. There is about only 4 tables open sit in this resturant. The Udon was decent, but nothing special. It just reminded me of the udon Costco package. The tempura bundle was so huge I coudknt finish it all. It also didn't fit in my udon bowl to dip.

Sooooo flavorful! I've been to Japanese curry places from SF to the South Bay. They all satisfy your craving for a bowl of rice with a lot of curry sauce and a friend piece of protein. BUT, here at Kizuna everything part of that same dish has so much flavor. The curry has depth, the pork is light and crispy and finished just right! I will be back over and over!

One of the best curry katsu/katsu donburi places in San Jose! I was craving a katsu bowl and found this amazing place on yelp! There were other curry katsu resturants but I wanted to try something new. It was a plus that it is a family-owned establishment, kinda like a shukudo. It is a smallish resturant about 6-7 tables and a table in the middle with water and to-go boxes. At the table, there's a QR code where you order and pay before they bring out your food. This makes getting your food quick and easy and since you just can leave after without waiting for the check. But the only issue I saw that some people had was they didn't know you had to pay before so it could help to have a sign about it. Not a big deal but if you do eat here, it's all card, no cash so just heads up! The whole resturant is like a self-serve place. The workers just bring out the food and help with any issues you may have. They don't serve you. The food comes out on either paper plates or take out bowls, depending on what you get, so you can throw it away in the trash can when your done. The water and to-go boxes are in the middle of the resturant so you can get your own water and boxes whenever The food is amazing, I got the katsu donburi, and it was so good. They make to order so it's hot and fresh. Similar, with the curry katsu. They also give you a seperate container for the curry so you can control how much you want to use. Each order also comes with sides: salad with roe, salmon, and edamane.

How do you know when a place is authentic? When you look into the kitchen and see the people cooking your food are obviously not hired help. You can come up with your own interpretation of what that may be, but if you come here and look you'll know what I mean. Now let's get down to business. You come in, sit yourself down and scan the QR code at the table and place your order on your phone. Thirsty? Get your water yourself you lazy bum. It's right there in the center next to you. You want more napkins? Don't act like you didn't see it next to the water. Don't bother the ladies in the kitchen. They are busy cooking orders for Ubereats and Doordashes between trying to whip up your order. What's good? I've only tried the Chicken Katsu Curry and the Curry Udon and let me tell you I cannot pick which is better. Both Curries look the same but they are both different and fantastic in their own way! Go ahead and try Japanese curry at any restaurant and then come here. TELL me this isn't the BEST curry you've ever had?!?!?! The Chicken Katsu (autocorrect keeps wanting to change this word to "cat" lol) is so incredibly flaky and they give you a TUB OF CURRY to dip your chicken pieces in! It is so difficult to not eat every drop of that. I started dipping chunks of rice in that tub until every drop was gone. The Udon was also the best I've ever had. How did these ladies do it? I'm guessing it's a recipe passed on for generations and I'm so lucky to be able to taste it. I will be back to try something else one day but for sure these two things are my go-to.

We came on a Sunday noon and there was plenty of seating inside and outside. We opted to sit on the patio since the weather was so nice! You order via the QR code at each table. Make sure to pay first so that the kitchen receives the order! We sat there like fools for a while before the staff kindly let us know. There's also self-served water inside. We ordered the Katsu (pork) Curry and Chicken Katsu Curry. Both Katsus were incredibly crispy, which went perfectly with a dip into the curry. The pork katsu was a little on the dry side, while the chicken was very juicy and tender. Thankfully, the curry helped with tastiness of the pork. The curry itself was thick and flavorful, which I happily poured over the rice with each bite. Each katsu came with a traditional Japanese salad as well as some edamame, Japanese pickles, and a seaweed salad that was so flavorful and umami! Overall, the food was very comforting and yummy! I just got caught off guard by the restaurant-style seating with the take-out style service. Everything came on paper plates or to-go containers. They also had a counter of additional boxes/lids to grab if needed. Next time, I'll know what to expect!

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night after some rock climbing. Luckily we put our name down right before a bunch of groups came and we got seated in a few minutes. Otherwise it was looking to be at least a 20 min wait. Ordering was through your phone. You also pay on your phone. Water is self serve. Food comes out on disposable plates. So turn around for tables can be pretty quick! They have their system nailed down. All the food came out quickly and it was all delicious. But oh my god the pork katsu. That first bite was heavenly and I will have to order it every single time! We all got a variety from karage to chicken katsu but the pork...always pork from now on. It was tender and just melted in my mouth. And the fry was perfectly crispy. I can't wait to come back!

Nice homey spot for Japanese curry and other fare! Great food and quick service overall :) You order at the front counter and do keep in mind that you need to have a table ready before you order if you are dining in! My boyfriend and I stopped in at ~6:30pm on a Friday evening and there was one open table that we were able to snag, but things can definitely get busy at times. I got the curry udon which came with inari along with a few sides (macaroni salad and edamame), and my boyfriend got the katsu curry which came with the curry on the side along with a side salad and a few sides. Both of our meals were good, and the portion sizes were just about right especially for the price that we paid. My udon was very flavorful and came with slices of tender beef, and I actually really loved the inari and the macaroni salad that came on the side.

Portions here are huge! Mo also always steals some of my Kakiage Don and I'm still stuffed after. Curry here is also on point. Overall a simple spot that is quick to eat and slightly cafeteria style in that you order at the counter and then food comes to you and you clean up after yourself. Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Parking is easy peasy. Ambiance is non-existent but a clean place. 5/5

This place is obsessed with paper plates and plastic cups and containers. We aren't in the middle of the pandemic anymore, so why?? Food was mediocre. The chicken katsu was tender but the rice was on the mushy side. The curry had too much MSG. The tempura had no seasoning whatsoever and the udon broth lacked flavor so I'm not sure what to dip the tempura in? You seat yourself, order and pay from a QR code with a mandatory 15% minimum tip, get your own water, clean up after yourself, and box your own to-go containers.. so what service do they even provide?

No big deal since I've been to other Japanese curry places like this. I've had a mix bag where the katsu was deliciously crispy and moist on the inside and days where the meat inside is dry, even drenched in curry. I had my eye on the sandos, specifically the Chicken Katsu Sando, but landed on the Spicy Tuna Don instead. Good call. Spicy yellowfin tuna tartare over well-seasoned sushi rice, topped with sesame, furikake, green onions, with a little radish and cucumber on the side. The tuna was very fresh, the rice was on point. Service was quick and polite - they even have an outside window for takeout. One nice detail: a neat dollop of wasabi is pasted along the inside wall of the bowl, which is a clean way of letting you control exactly how much heat you want to mix in. Tasteful presentation, but don't let that fool you. It has a legitimate kick, so calibrate accordingly. Paired it with their Honjozo dry sake cup, which was a nice complement to the meal and exactly the right call for a mid-afternoon bite. The sandos looked great on other tables and I fully intend to go back for the Chicken Katsu Sando - and then go try the wine bar next door to it. which was pretty tempting.

I ordered the fried shrimp curry with the addition of a potato croquette, spice level 2 (medium). I was STARVING and was tempted to add more toppings but didn't want to go too crazy so I could enjoy the curry itself! I also ordered a cup of miso soup on the side. I'm going to be totally honest, I was just expecting an average bowl of curry but boy was I wrong... 5/5! The food came out piping hot, to-go style, in white plastic containers. The shrimp was golden, light, crispy, and tender. The potato croquette was super crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I was amazed that none of the fried items were greasy whatsoever. The curry was thick, hearty, comforting and had a slight kick of spice. Accompanied with a mound of steamy, white rice, this dish was delicious and the portions very generous! The miso soup was light, umami, and broth-y. It really helped to cut the richness of the curry and fried items. The lady working here was also super nice and friendly. Chicken katsu curry 4/5 The fried food here is so good. Delicious katsu. Curry was a little too sweet for my liking but warm and hearty. Spicy tuna roll 3.5/5 Not too spicy. Tasty, pretty standard, Agedashi tofu 4/5 Light and fried nicely. Soy sauce was delicious and paired well. Tempura 5/5 Probably the best and lightest tempura I've in the states. Comes close to being in Japan! Overall, definitely will be back when I'm craving tempura or katsu. Have to support small businesses like this!

The food took some time, even though we were the only party at the time that we ordered, but you can tell that it is made of fresh and with love. As someone who enjoys eating flavorful meals, but is also very conscious of healthy choices, I was very grateful that they had grilled chicken curry option since it normally comes fried only, and that you could opt for brown rice instead of white rice. My chicken curry dish was so hearty and flavorful, the curry is housemade and the chicken was very tender We also ordered a chicken Katsu Bento, which was both juicy yet perfectly crisp. It comes with a little bite of soba noodles and a bite of macaroni and that small salad . Order at the counter , and there's a handful of indoor tables The tonkotsu ramen was also delicious - came with two super huge slabs of juicy pork belly and the broth was scrumptiously rich . Glad we ended up here for lunch !

The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy inside, with a nice light seasoning that didn't overpower the dish. The curry sauce was rich, slightly sweet, and had just enough depth to keep you going back for another bite. Portion size was great for the price, and everything came out hot and fresh. The vibe felt cozy and laid-back--nothing fancy, but definitely the kind of place you'd come back to when you're craving something reliable and filling. Only reason it's not a full 5 stars is I wish the curry had a bit more spice or complexity, but that's personal preference. Still, a really enjoyable meal overall and worth checking out.

The ambiance was also quite nice. I enjoyed the wall decor, and the ambiance is a bit darker. As for food, two of my friends got the creamy vegan ramen (they're vegan and vegetarian). My other friend for a pork don with a spicy miso ramen, and I got the gyu-don with a spicy miso ramen. The food was very delicious - everything was cooked well, perfectly flavored. I like the rice plates as they come with a tiny bowl of ramen of your choice :) Overall, we would definitely come back again as we thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience!
