Welcome to Duck Town Park and Boardwalk in lovely Duck, NC. It's a real family and entertainment destination with an amphitheater, picnic shelter, and playground. Without question, the boardwalk and piers are the centerpiece of the property, measuring over 4,000 feet long and ten feet wide. You can take some beautiful photos of the boardwalk hovering over the water or silhouetted against the sky. The scenery along the boardwalk is gorgeous with pretty views of the Sound, sand dunes, fallen trees, and seagrass. We saw plenty of people taking advantage of the beautiful weather and simply strolling along the boardwalk or ducking into stores, bars, and restaurants, or relaxing on one of the twenty-one benches. I even saw a large bird (maybe a hawk or eagle or condor?) sweeping along the tree line and walking in the woods. anyone know what this is? https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/duck-town-park-and-boardwalk-kitty-hawk?select=JptpdCQdvEtdn_g0CL2tpw&userid=cVrM2BvOvPV0Vi_rC8kepQ We had such a nice relaxing time just wandering around the boardwalk and ducking into the occasional store or shop.

Whereas this one, has a bit more to it. With it being a public access point, it has a lot more parking available. There is some street parking, but if you are lucky, you will get one of the spots in the lot. There is a lot to offer here, more than just access to the beach. Right near the parking you will see two beach volleyball courts. Which is quite a nice addition. And this is even before you get to the beach. While visiting the beach for the day, I brought my dogs here to let some energy out. I was not expecting there to be a group of regulars here so early. Right away they welcomed us and our dogs played nicely together. There are three sections to the dog park. One for large dogs on the left, the middle for senior dogs, and the right side for smaller dogs. There are places to sit, waste stations, water, and a dog wash. My dogs had a great time running around and meeting everyone. The park provides ample shade and room to run around. The dog owners were attentive and welcoming. They provided recommendations for places to visit in the area and one gave me a sticker after her dog jumped up on me (so creative and hilarious). Apple maps will take you to a parking lot by the arboretum and pond. The sign does not mention the dog park, but it is a close walk nearby. I had the "alpha" horse Redbull; hubby had the wild girl, Gypsy. It was so easy to ride, lead, and let them take us on the tour of Cape Hatteras National Seashore. I was amazed at how the horses seemed to know when it was time to head out & turn around on their own because the guide wasn't near by to lead! It was an amazing start to a birthday week full of surprises!

We were under the impression/expected that we would be able to split off from the beginner group and ride at a pace we would enjoy. Due to covid the guide said they were only using one guide this year (instead of 2) so we were unable to split off and do any trotting or cantering unfortunately. But it was still an enjoyable experience over all. I would recommend that they consider offering a longer more private ride option in addition to their services! We definitely would have paid more to have a longer ride time at a pace we would have enjoyed more!
