There is so much to do in this park. Throughout the year, and especially in the summer, they have events. During the summer, it is almost daily events that you can partake in. They had music in the park one night, but with our place being so close, all we had to do was sit on the porch to listen. There is also a farmer's market, exercising in the park, I believe art in the park. If that is not your thing, there is definitely things here that could keep you busy. It should go without saying, there is a stage/bandshell area. There is a picnic area if you wanted to bring food and hang out. If you have kids, they definitely have you covered here. There is a decently sized playground (right near the public restrooms, convenient). This playground is quite extensive and inclusive. Slides, swings, seesaws, monkey bars...you name it, it is here. A lot of them are wheelchair accessible. Then there is the sandbox, complete with a turtle making it look like you are on the beach. The sidewalks here are interesting as well. Every so often you will see a seashell in the cement. Turtle tracks near the sandbox. Fossils on the climbing rocks for the jungle gym. They really put some thought into this place. Also available here for you to enjoy, horseshoe pit, cornhole, basketball court, pickle ball court, and bocce ball court. The thing about the bocce ball court, they have the state champs for Special Olympics here, complete with a plaque of sorts. One of the neatest thing here, you know those free little libraries? They got one that is a little free art library. Tiny little pieces of art that you can take with you. Bookmarks, small drawings, magnets, shells, all free for the taking. Supplied by the local community or those visiting.

On Thursdays there's a nice farmers and craft market. There's a nice produce stand with lots of local product. Many of the stalls are local artists and bakers. I love lots of the beach theme products, all very good quality.

There are hardly any services here (which I guess is why it's free to enter). What makes this place so cool is that you walk from the parking lot for just a couple minutes and you feel like you're on the set of a movie (think of the desert in Star Wars or Dune). You then climb to the top of one of the dunes and you can see the ocean on one side and the sound on the other.

We loved having a sliding glass door that opened to a very small deck that overlooked the beach and ocean. We loved hearing the ocean and seeing the early morning and late evening beach. We loved that the condo was huge inside with two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a large, well-equipped kitchen with bar counter, a dining room with table and chairs and a complete living room. Both the master bedroom and living room had wall-mounted flat screen cable TVs and the living room had a CD stereo. We liked having a deck-side elevator for lifting our suitcases. We loved the pool which was large and clean and had a good depth, ranging from about three to five feet. The pool area had a privacy fence around it, plenty of deck furniture and adjustable umbrellas and a clean bathroom. The complex sits comfortably away from the beach road and seems almost park-like with fenced-in cactus garden, pool, children play and outdoor grilling areas and pine tree areas. We liked having free access to the laundry room's three washing and drying machines. We liked the resort's boardwalk-like direct access to the beach and outside showers. We also liked the fact that the management company, Kees, had an on-site office that was open every day except weekends. We also liked the fact that we could see that the property was being maintained by groundskeepers and painters during our stay. Now, I'll mention what could have been better. The biggest issue was interior cleanliness. When we first entered, the coffee maker still had the previous renter's grounds in it. The kitchen stove and floor had a slight greasiness to them. There were some ants around the kitchen counter and bar areas. The master bathroom's A/C vent had a black, mold-like, stain around it, although the vent itself had been newly replaced. Also, the middle of the three washing machines needed repair. Lastly, the master bedroom bed could have been more comfortable and there was a softball-sized stain on the carpet. Also, the rental included access to the Outer Banks Sports Club !!! This was wonderful !!! I got to have a workout at a clean, modern gym while my wife got to go shopping !!! To summarize, while the condo wasn't perfect, the good far outweighed the bad and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. In fact, we felt like we could have lived there after we did our own initial cleaning. Oh, also, if we ever go to the Outer Banks during hurricane season again, we'll be sure to get hurricane insurance as well !!!

Even though you could tell the employees were uncomfortable having to keep saying it to every customer. What is unique about this is that even though you have to wait, there is a putting green in an area before the course starts. So even though you may not get to start your game as soon as you pay, you can still do a little putting. Then the course starts for you. Even though there area a ton of people, it flows. As the group ahead of you finishes a hole, you start. This happens for each hole. You are constantly moving. You ascend, you descend. You follow the footpath and arrows. The theming here is on point as well. The whole pirate theme is carried through nicely. Especially around the Jolly Roger. The water cannons simulating cannonballs being fired. The multiple waterfalls. Also keep your eyes open for some local history. Throughout the course there are informational plaques. Take a moment to read them. Also available is an arcade. Some items in the gift shop. And ice cream.
