The Duck Boardwalk, also known as the Soundside Boardwalk, is nearly a mile long and is the perfect place to enjoy all that the Outer Banks has to offer. Right next to the Duck Boardwalk you will find the 11 acres of natural beauty known as Duck Town Park. This was a great way to spend the day, walking long the boardwalk, while stopping in the shops and restaurants along the way. I would recommend driving into Duck early in order to find a parking spot, this coastal town fills up quick and can get very congested, so start early in the day. Cheers!

What a beautiful little boardwalk! It was very clean and everyone was super friendly. The shops are unique and don't sell the cheap beach garbage you see at other chain places.

There are several reasons why families flock to the Outer Banks newest town in Dare County. The area is consistently ranked as a top 10 "Best Beach" and top 10 "Family Beach Vacation" If you have ever been to this small village you can see why this town is so decorated. After the incorporation of the town in 2002 there was a plan by the Duck Town Council to begin beautification efforts. Top on the list was building a boardwalk and park for area residents and visitors to enjoy. The close to mile walk will take you through a Maritime Forest and Willow Swamp. It is a very picturesque and a serene area to take s stroll anytime of the day. With the high cost of building an almost mile stretch of boardwalk along the Albamarle Sound, the project was done in stages. The final section of the South walk way was completed in 2009. A kayak launch was also added and is present in the last section. The city park and small amphitheater was also completed around the same time in 2009-2010. The park does boost a picnic shelter, a multi purpose shelter with green space and restroom facilities. If your traveling to this quaint area of North Carolina don't miss out on the wonderful enhancements by the city of Duck. Your family can enjoy a beautiful sunset walk along the sound, or some family time in the new park, or maybe a show in the newer outdoor theater. Our family is here often and we are in love with this area of the Outer Banks. Come see why so many like our family make this a destination to not be missed.

Been to Duck twice & both times we have spent an entire evening eating out & enjoying the boardwalk. Absolutely love this place! Lots of unique shops & restaurants (on the boardwalk & on the main drag). The boardwalk, itself, is really nice. We will definitely be back next time that we're in OBX.

Great place for a morning or afternoon stroll, cool shops a lot of runners. Morning and evening are best especially for sunsets.

I love a good park as much as the next parent with children, but this outdoor recreational area is…read morejust not quite up to par. Don't get me wrong, it has a beautiful setting among tall pines and offers a tranquil area free of noise and little traffic. The Southern Shores Civic Association maintains the park and is responsible for any improvements through association dues. The park has been present for at least six years and do not think it's over ten years. The very best thing that I can say about the park is that there is one at all. I would consider Sea Oats a neighborhood park and to my knowledge there is not another one until you get to Duck to the North and it's superior. The fact that Southern Shores donated this valuable piece of land for the use of a park is commendable. Let's start with the best of what is here. Recently improvements were made to the single hoop basketball court and there were signifigant. New concrete was poured and a Goalzilla adjustable hoop with glass back was installed. These hoops are the BEST and are around $1,500. Parking is the first item that is less than desirable. Only around a half dozen spots exist on the hard surface. However this may not be a problem as the park is rarely busy. A bike rack exist and is a plus as many children use this mode of transport around the beach. There is also some wood play equipment, plastic slide and a swing set... ages 10 and under appropriate for play area. Although the swings can be up to adult and they do have a single one for a toddler. Biggest room for improvement that would really enhance the park is upgraded equipment, they have plenty of room. There is also a very large field for soccer and a single goal. On the day I visited it was not maintained and in desperate need of mowing. I doubt that any games are played here, but assume practices for local teams take place at this location. The biggest negative are lack of a restroom facility, not even a port a potty which I would recommend be leased as a more reasonable option to construction of a facility. Other improvements that could take place are a few trash cans and additional picnic tables (only two). I picked up debris around the BB court and placed it in the roll out dumpster by the road. There is one for trash, another for recycling. Check it out for yourself and draw your own opinions. I am at a 2.5 rounding down. However, I can see parents of young children bumping this up and understandably so. Even at a 2 I am still recommending Sea Oats due to the scarcity of parks with playground equipment in the area. My assumption is the BB court is one of many improvements planned for the small park.
