Welcome to Duck Town Park and Boardwalk in lovely Duck, NC. It's a real family and entertainment destination with an amphitheater, picnic shelter, and playground. Without question, the boardwalk and piers are the centerpiece of the property, measuring over 4,000 feet long and ten feet wide. You can take some beautiful photos of the boardwalk hovering over the water or silhouetted against the sky. The scenery along the boardwalk is gorgeous with pretty views of the Sound, sand dunes, fallen trees, and seagrass. We saw plenty of people taking advantage of the beautiful weather and simply strolling along the boardwalk or ducking into stores, bars, and restaurants, or relaxing on one of the twenty-one benches. This was one of our favorite stops in the Outer Banks. The boardwalk is right along the sound with really pretty views over the water. We walked the length of the boardwalk which is about a mile one way. It was easy for us to find free public parking, but we were also there in the off season. It was in the midst of Covid-19 when we were there, so we didn't go into any of the shops, but there were a lot of nice looking galleries and other shops that I would definitely browse next time. I recommend coming for sunset. It's a beautiful place to watch the sunset over the sound! read more

The Duck Boardwalk, also known as the Soundside Boardwalk, is nearly a mile long and is the perfect place to enjoy all that the Outer Banks has to offer. Right next to the Duck Boardwalk you will find the 11 acres of natural beauty known as Duck Town Park. This was a great way to spend the day, walking long the boardwalk, while stopping in the shops and restaurants along the way. I would recommend driving into Duck early in order to find a parking spot, this coastal town fills up quick and can get very congested, so start early in the day. Cheers! read more

There are several reasons why families flock to the Outer Banks newest town in Dare County. The area is consistently ranked as a top 10 "Best Beach" and top 10 "Family Beach Vacation" If you have ever been to this small village you can see why this town is so decorated. After the incorporation of the town in 2002 there was a plan by the Duck Town Council to begin beautification efforts. Top on the list was building a boardwalk and park for area residents and visitors to enjoy. The close to mile walk will take you through a Maritime Forest and Willow Swamp. It is a very picturesque and a serene area to take s stroll anytime of the day. With the high cost of building an almost mile stretch of boardwalk along the Albamarle Sound, the project was done in stages. The final section of the South walk way was completed in 2009. A kayak launch was also added and is present in the last section. The city park and small amphitheater was also completed around the same time in 2009-2010. The park does boost a picnic shelter, a multi purpose shelter with green space and restroom facilities. If your traveling to this quaint area of North Carolina don't miss out on the wonderful enhancements by the city of Duck. Your family can enjoy a beautiful sunset walk along the sound, or some family time in the new park, or maybe a show in the newer outdoor theater. Great place for a morning or afternoon stroll, cool shops a lot of runners. Morning and evening are best especially for sunsets.

Definitely a pretty walk. The views are nice. There are a lot of places to shop at and stop to eat. Stroller and wheelchair friendly.

2/18/20 The Town of Duck Beach has really developed since I was here as a kind. I think I enjoy the experience now more than then. Before this lovely boardwalk, one hand to walk along the dangerous roadway to get from shop center to shopping center. A lot of the mom and pop stores have closed down, but others have stuck it out and are still around.  I found a lovely necklace and earrings for my wife here. There us a restaurant right on the Sound docks, but I forgot the name of the place.  Now that this new boardwalk is up and running, it is a very romantic place to walk with your loved one(s).   If you ever get the chance to go parasailing in Duck Beach, I highly recommend doing so. It is one of the most relaxing experiences I have ever had...especially when you do it by yourself. Come on down an experience the beaches of Duck. read more

This is such a beautiful and scenic walk. My friends and I had some time to burn and decided to get donuts. We saw the boardwalk was right there and wanted to go on a little walk to burn off some calories. I'm so glad we did. You would think that it being such a beautiful area that it would be packed, but not at all. We were one of a few sets of people going down the walk. There are quite a few branching paths and areas to stop and shop as well. If you are in the Duck or Kittyhawk area, this is a must stop. I only wish that we had checked it out in the evening because I have heard the sunsets can be breathtaking from that vantage point. I can also confirm that the only thing you smell is the water, there wasn't any stink whatsoever. read more

We stumbled across the Duck Boardwalk and enjoyed the surprise so much! We walked along the water from one end to the other- gorgeous views of the sound and the sunset, visiting charming shops and rest spots along the way. It's hard to do this one without stopping in at one of the many intermittent treat-shops, so don't plan to do it without an ice cream cone, Duck Donut, cup of coffee, or a cocktail someplace! A great way to enjoy Duck and the sound, chat or stroll, alone or with kids/friends. read more

Shopping, food and exercise! I really like this boardwalk and if you have time you should walk THE WHOLE thing. The shops are good to stop in check some things out, but the boardwalk is really nice. It's right off the water too and has a few cool spots ( like about half way theres a GIANT beach chair you can take photos with) We like to start at the end near the shops/the little feeding pond where the turtles are and get ice cream at Donuts on a stick and walk all the way down. read more

Really nice scenic dock. Take in the beautiful blue water from the Currituck Sound. Support some local businesses. Sit in a gigantic Adirondack chair. Eat some ice cream. Buy some tchotchkes. Smell some terrible rotting seaweed. Listen to some live music. Laugh at the restaurant that's also somehow a spa. Yell angrily at some birds. You can really do it all here. read more

Great food atmosphere was outstanding, looking over the water and wildlife while eating was a fantastic experience

This is a really nice wood boardwalk over the water nearby shops though it goes through a marsh area with wildlife and plants and a view of the water. There is a purple martin bird house attached to the boardwalk giving folks a close view of these birds and an osprey platform is really close in the water. Without binoculars you can see the osprey and with binoculars you really get a good look at them. They have a baby right now in the nest (early June 2014). I spotted a heron in the water and also a snake swimming by. There are benches along the boardwalk. read more

Great boardwalk in "downtown" Duck, if a town like Duck can really have a downtown. The boardwalk goes by stores as well as over the water where you can see fish, turtles, crabs, and even osprey. It's a great hour or two detour. read more

Been to Duck twice & both times we have spent an entire evening eating out & enjoying the boardwalk. Absolutely love this place! Lots of unique shops & restaurants (on the boardwalk & on the main drag). The boardwalk, itself, is really nice. We will definitely be back next time that we're in OBX. read more

What a beautiful Park in the quaint little town of Duck on the Outer Banks. This Park has a beautiful playground for kids as well as an amphitheater for plays and shows. The gem of this town park is the entrance to the giant sound side boardwalk that stretches .75 miles, and meanders it's way through little habitats of frogs, turtles and otters. We stayed in duck over fourth of July week and spent time at the adorable town park. We saw a concert there and took our dogs one day to play ball. The boardwalk was great too. We could sit with our icecream and listen to a guy play guitar. What a great week! read more
