I absolutely love this store and I'm so grateful to have one nearby. It's conveniently located at Orenco Station right next to New Seasons (which I visit frequently). It's a wonder that I don't come to the boodle more often, but each time I visit, I always think, wow I should come in here more often. First of all, the store is laid out nicely with plenty of space and room to wander the aisles and peruse the furniture, kitchen gadgets and home decor. I've found really good basics as well as unique pieces here. The staff is always super welcoming, friendly and so helpful. On this particular trip I picked up two dining chairs that were 74% off which is another thing that I love, their end of season sales, such an incredible value! Do not shop here!!! They have the WORST customer service. They don't care to make people happy or treat customers with respect. I bought $1000 worth of chairs and a pillow. I left for Hawaii the next day and came back two weeks later to return the throw pillow. I was informed the have a SEVEN DAY RETURN policy! I asked to get store credit and they said no. I've come in a couple times to grab a few items I needed quickly, like a tea strainer ball or a dish brush, but mostly I come to see what's on sale. I think the prices are a little higher than what you can find online, but you do get really friendly and helpful staff, which is why I like this store - and I've scored great deals, like a set of four old fashioned glasses for $5! read more

I wandered into this store on a walk when we first moved to Oregon. I keep coming back! I love their kitchen and dining accessories, but they also have a lovely selection of furniture. Since my first visit we have ordered two danish modern chairs and a dining set for our kitchen. We have worked with Austin who is always very knowledgeable and helpful, however the rest of the staff is as well. When we were trying to decide between a chair they had at Orenco and one we had tried at another store, they had it brought over so we could compare them side by side. Okay, Kitchen Kaboodle is like Toys R Us for home chefs. I've been through here 8-10 times over the past years, and I could literally just hang out here all day. I had some time to kill while Wife N. got some new blue goo in her doo across the street at Bishops barber shop. Having to wait a couple hours for her hair to transform from silvery-blonde to eye-searing-indigo gave me the perfect excuse to head to my favorite kitchen toy store. Today I was on a quest for a skillet. But not just any skillet. A quality 8" triple-clad stainless steel fry pan. And, not 60-seconds into my visit, I found exactly what I was looking for. On the whole, Kitchen Kaboodle is a bit of a retail place, with their prices being about "average". But every once in a while, as was the case with my new pan, you find a great deal. This time, I got 65% off the $80 marked price, and netted myself a $28 steal of a lovely Cuisinart saute pan. It doesn't matter what you're looking for in terms of kitchen stuff. New set of dishes? Yep, in 50 styles and colors. Glassware--over there on that really long wall. Spatulas: Yep, just LOOK at that selection! Make-it-at-home soda fountain: yep, that whole island. They always ask if I found everything I was looking for. My answer here has always been "Oh, I found way MORE than I was looking for". This is one of those places where you must engage full self control, lest you wind up purchasing way more than you came for. Today, I succeeded. In the past, not so much. I didn't expect it, but Kitchen Kaboodle has great furniture. I ended up getting my dining room set here. Additionally, this place has an expansive selection of general kitchen things. I make an effort for all of my cookware to be colorful and fun, and Kitchen Kaboodle has a big enough selection that you can choose between 8 different colors of mixing spoons. I bought a silverware set here, and even though it ended up on back order for a couple of months, the employees made sure to keep in contact with me and make sure I knew what was going on the entire time. They definitely provided good customer service throughout the wait. read more

Oh my goodness I can get in A LOT of trouble in this store!! I love it when one of the workers comes up and says to me, "Can I help you find anything?" (which they always do)....I am thinking to myself when they ask me this, "Uhm, no I am getting into enough trouble all by myself!"... hahaha! In all seriousness though, the staff here is always very friendly and helpful!! It's funny to me that I will search up and down and all around the city for something...and then I will go here to Kitchen Kaboodle and there IT IS! And I think to myself, again, why in the world did I not come here FIRST! Ugh. So much wasted time! Seriously...if it is something that belongs in the kitchen, look here first! They have some higher end goods, that is true, but there are many very affordable products here too. There is also a nice selection of linens, home decor and even furniture! If you are in search of baking tools...this is like total one stop shopping! And the high end items they sell are really worth the price anyway. So if you have the bucks to shell out for top of the line products...why not spend it here? What I love most about this place is that it is locally owned! Great selection of higher end cookware. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Equipment here is a step above Bed, Bath and Beyond. A little higher or equal to Macy's. The inventory and hours has been cut back because of the recession which is sad. Hopefully this store will remain open because it is the only place with higher end cookware in the area. read more

This place is alright. Nice stuff, a little pricey but if you know what you are after you can get reasonable prices. I admit I do not go this way much just due to Orenco area attitude. The STAFF at the Kitchen Kaboodle store *do not* get into that garbage, but....it is the AREA. Like going into New Seasons? (rant coming on) It is next door to Kitchen Kaboodle. AMAZINGLY rude women at the front registers. As in, they often will not speak to my husband or me. AT ALL. They will ring you up entirely without speaking ONE word. To me I can understand. Women get weird with other women (stupid, but....what the fuck ever)...and I do not get into, nor accept the pathetic existences they embrace.......but my husband? Who can totally pass for the crap they get into? For them to ignore him? THAT is how I know Orenco has *serious* attitude problems. Hmmmm, now that I think about it. Is it that I am a woman, and he is "dark meat"? (the Orenco area is racist -- so I am trying to think of everything as to WHY the complete, 100% being not spoken to thing - how freakish is that?) Sorry. This is not a review of New Seasons at Orenco.....but, for real....the area of Orenco is an area I just ignore. The racism alone is worthy on its own. Anyway, I only go to Kitchen Kaboodle when I am looking for something specific. It is a good store....I just have to be in the mood sometimes to go out that way. But, believe it or not? It has less attitude than the patrons at the 23rd Ave location. (again, patrons -- not the staff) I am used to other areas that do not act like that. The areas I am referring to have more money (Carmel, CA, Monterey, CA)....and, the big fish in a small pond thing? That would be Orenco....and it gets old. Hell, that would be NW 23rd Ave in many establishments. Oh, Kitchen Kaboodle cut their hours * A LOT *. They are only open Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun? The Orenco location is not near a highway, but most of them are not. I got some nice oven mitts for my daughter's first apartment, and I love them. I will go back and get myself a pair. Don't get me wrong....I would go back. I do go there. But, just not on the weekend with the working class. That was a dig, people! Not me thinking I am better than them. Bottom line. Life is too short to deal with that garbage. I was just at the 23rd Ave store and had to be with all those other patrons....so they are fresh on my mind. Not to mention annoying patrons (women of course) in Moonstruck Chocolate. Funny how my husband gives better reviews sometimes of the same places. For me it comes down to ATTITUDE. He ignores that. What he will note is the racist stuff because he is a gorgeous Filipino Mexican with some white people thrown in for good measure. I believe in enjoying life and looking up and outward. Many of the people I am referring to with a bad attitude is covered in the overall rating I give. I usually do not have a problem with women. I think they like what they see, just as I do with them, and they move on. Not in Orenco, though. I guess this place is like clothes shopping. I have to write to sing some praises for this place- I went in last weekend in search of supplies to make robot cupcakes- an oddly specific item- and was greeted by an employee immediately who was just as excited about the crazy idea that I had as I was. He was incredibly helpful, coming up with all kinds of creative ideas to figure out how to make my vision come to life in other ways (they didn't have robot cupcake molds, but I definitely can't hold that against them). He found some seasonal molds and helped me figure out how I could modify them to make my vision work. It's been a long time since I've encountered customer service that great. 30x30 9 Selection is good...lots ..almost too much to select from. Everything from dishes and potholders to all your small appliances and furniture! I found a dining room table that I am really into there and it is solid wood and only about 100 more than IKEA which for solid wood, is worth the price. The staff was friendly enough. When we were checking out, we were sort of ignored for a second but they realized what was happening and were pretty friendly after that. Anyhoo....prices were good... I walked to the grocery store next door and saw this shop so I walked in out of curiosity. I was nicely greeted after about two minutes of walking in. I thought the background music was fantastic and I liked the song playing so asked one of the associates about it. I informed them that I was just browsing whole on my way to the grocery store and had never been in before and they were great in just letting me comfortably browse through the entire store. They have so many great kitchen accessories, even cute gift items and gourmet food products for baking and some other food items too. We really wanted to like this store, and planned to indulge our relative who recently moved to the area when we came to visit: LeCreuset pots, KitchenAid mixer, spatulas the works. However we wandered around making notes of what we'd get, but had a question about a scale..they were not displayed with batteries and our relative has a vision issue, so I went to the desk to ask if I could see one to get a sense of the brightness. The woman there never greeted us, said hello or cracked a smile, but said "That wouldn't be possible". No other words!!! So of course one had to ask "Why?". We were told "they are sealed in boxes". I explained our issue and asked about seeing one in use. The answer was "No". One word. No apology, nothing. Just a continued stare as if we were dirt. Clearly this woman should not be in sales!! This saleswoman couldn't have cared less if we bought a thing. Still never offered to help, nor even to say we could put down the group of items we were carrying, or if we wanted to check out. We walked back, looked at the scale (an Italian one) again, then took a camera picture, and noted the sizes of the LeCreuset pots we had intended to buy. We put back all the utensils, silicone mats, left my AmEx Platinum card in my pocket and walked out to sit in the chair of the Grocery market next door, flabbergasted at the service. Irate, I looked at Amazon..found the same Kitchen Aid 6qt mixer there for $180 less than the store had, found two LeCreuset pots also for less charge, and read reviews on the Italian scale, getting it for $35 less than this shop had. Note to owners: people joke about Best Buy being Amazon's showroom--well, with service such as we had with you, you turned out to be Amazon's showroom too and we spent over $500 that you could have had (maybe it would have been over $700 with you). We love to patronize local businesses but you have to provide friendly, capable service staffed by motivated salespeople. You didn't for us. I tried putting this review on your own website a few months back but it was promptly deleted. Hope you "deleted" that employee too. That customer experience was terrible, and we'll never be back. read more

I always have a great experience whenever I come in. So far I have only bought Shun Cutlery knives and the workers are very experienced in how each knife works and are good at teaching us about it. I bought from them two separate times as a gift for my mother and for them to teach her (and me) how each knife should be used is great. read more

I really wanted to like this store! As an avid home cook I thought this would be the place that took all my money, however the customer service experience made it so I won't be back. I went in on a pretty slow time on a Saturday and wasn't acknowledged by anyone in the store. I was looking for something specific so I thought I would grab the first associate I saw and ask for some help, cut to me walking around the store for 15 minutes trying to find something I need. I think a few people who worked there walked by me but they didn't identify themselves and they don't wear nametags or anything to give you a hint. Being in customer service I thought I would mention that nametags would be helpful to the cashier and boy was that a mistake! She was pretty unreceptive my feedback and didn't wait till I left the store to start smack talking to her coworkers! Bad experience overall so sadly I will be shopping elsewhere. read more

Lots and lots of household goods, not just kitchenware. More expensive than Target or similar stores, but it's higher quality and there's more of a selection. There were some nice patio chairs I saw today, but the fact that it was hailing outside made it hard to take the thought seriously.
