Instead, the positions were given to individuals with significantly less experience. While I understand that hiring decisions involve multiple factors, this experience left me feeling that hard work, experience, and a genuine desire to grow within the company are not necessarily recognized or rewarded at this location. The workplace culture is another significant issue. Without naming individuals, I have witnessed behavior that I believe reflects poor leadership, including manipulation, a lack of accountability, and interactions that negatively affect employee morale. Over time, I have seen the front-end team lose several capable and experienced leaders, leaving the department increasingly understaffed. I have also seen coworkers with leadership potential choose to transfer elsewhere. When multiple employees leave or seek opportunities at other locations, it is worth considering whether management and workplace culture are contributing factors. Staffing and turnover are additional concerns, particularly in the front end. Based on what I have experienced, these departments have struggled with consistency and adequate staffing. This creates additional pressure on the employees who remain and contributes to an already frustrating work environment. If you are considering applying here, I encourage you to ask questions about management, staffing, employee retention, and opportunities for advancement before accepting a position. Keep records of workplace concerns, including relevant dates and communications, and familiarize yourself with your rights. If you are a union member, consider speaking with your union representative if you believe an issue needs to be addressed. Ultimately, this review reflects my personal experience and observations. I believe employees deserve respectful leadership, clear communication, fair opportunities for advancement, and a workplace where their concerns are taken seriously. Unfortunately, I have not consistently experienced those things at this location. I hope this review helps prospective employees make a more informed decision before applying. There is also workers smoking on the side of Safeway outside right by the Handicap, no issue with smoking, but they are ALWAYS lingering around where customers are walking to the car. There is also homeless people always out front where you enter 124th street. Other than that, the selection is great, there is a Starbucks in the store as well, and the produce is fresh.
