He gave pretty comparable pricing and told me I could get a shipment within 3 days. All cabinets would come built and I would just need someone to install it. CON: Well, when I decided to order my cabinets, Bud was on vacation and the other guy couldn't take my order. Then the cabinets took longer than a 3-day delivery because of the day I ended up ordering it on. The cabinets also arrived late on delivery day. Bud told me there was traffic. The guys end up telling me it was because they were short staff. I love honesty....no need to lie. So, my contractors ended up waiting around for 3 hours...not fair to them. PRO: Bud tried to make it up to me. A couple of pieces did not come in and I ended up needing an additional filler that he did not charge me for. I also ended up having to order another filler and that came in a timely manner and I picked it up from their showroom. Overall good experience, just need to tighten up ordering and delivery.

Knowing that the kitchen is the center piece for all houses now, it was very important that we had the perfect one for us. We found that perfect kitchen at Carefree Kitchens. We set an appointment and decided the first seating with our sales person who helped us through the entire process. Then came and installed and the crew showed up the day written on the contract and we could not be happier with the results. I recommend 100% the work and care that they put into getting us through a most traumatic time.

We wanted a premium quality update for 20 year-old kitchen, but had a tight budget. After getting some eye-popping bids from contractors that wanted to do everything or nothing, we decided to DIY it and hoped for the best. We looked at all the online, RTA and big box retailers but weren't happy with the combination of quality, price and guidance we found. Fortunately, we came to Kraftmaid Vantage, Pandora and Shaw. Shaw worked with us to DIY what we could and provided help (patiently) when we asked. He had great ideas, but also listened to our ideas. He gave great guidance on configuration, color and countertops. The cabinets were professionally delivered on time. We had one damaged item and the factory didn't cut the oven cabinet correctly. Shaw sorted the problems quickly without issue. We're very happy with Kraftmaid Vantage quality and finish - particularly for about the same cost as online brands and for less than lower quality Kraftmaid product from the big box stores. Shaw also provided guidance on the quartz counter tops and arraged for their installation. His contractors were polite, professional, on-time and did beautiful work. Again, for about the same cost as the box box stores. While we aren't 100% finished (still need to install the range top in the island and some lighting), we are thrilled with the result. Thank you, Shaw. We'll be back when we do the laundry room.

I appreciated his honesty and humor with us as we tweaked my kitchen layout, and patience as we probably tweaked the layout too many times. The prices were better than we found elsewhere shopping around. My family is beyond pleased with how our kitchen turned out. I'd come right back to Shaw the next time I needed cabinets or a kitchen renovation.

All showcase quality IMO. Thus, we've plenty of recent experience with KBS outfit and feel confident in making the highest recommendation. In summary - KBS is not too big nor too small, not too expensive but not cheap, so they were just right for us - average homeowners who seek the very best value. In this regard, KBS was just right. Some highlights........ 1) The crew is experienced and cohesive. They've been together for a good long time. They work well together and we never observed inefficiency. They just work hard all day long. 2) I never had to worry about workers in our home. Honest, polite, professional, kind, and responsive are words I'd use to describe them. 3) Communications were timely and valuable. My advice is to take notes of every communication for reference. In one case we forgot it was our responsibility to acquire an appliance. Uh oh, it was our fault and a written record would have been useful to refer to. Yikes! 4) The budget estimates were honored. there was no bait and switch. Prices were transparent to us. 5) We enjoyed reviewing recommended selections of cabinets, floor, hardware, appliances, sinks etc. Today, we feel somewhat knowledgeable with KBS as our tutors. 6) Cleanup and construction debris was timely. Thanks! 7) The crew was OK with our two dogs. I think our doggies missed them when the jobs were done. Final note: The sign of a great contractor is NOT that nothing goes wrong. Rather it is how the contractor responds when something does go wrong. In this regard, KBS took care of problems I was not even aware of, and when I was, they swarmed to make it right ASAP. For example, a quartz kitchen countertop cracked. Surprised. The piece was faulty. The crack was not due to poor installation. We only had to make one call to Dan who took care of it. Easy peasy. No hassles or haggles about responsibility or cost. Perfect. I've a few more impressive examples. So the more work we observed, the more confident we became in KBS. In my life "trust" is earned and hard to achieve in the contracting world. So, it is with pleasure to say KBS was trusted. We'd hire them again whenever we have a future need. Simply excellent!

This was a big project and from the moment we met with Dan, we knew we wanted to work with him. He helped us redesign our first floor (including kitchen and bathroom), meeting with us multiple times to come up with a design that worked for our needs. He helped us figure out what materials and design elements worked for our home, really going above and beyond to help us make a lot of decisions. His experience meant that he was able to take our vision of what we wanted our home to be and turn it into reality. The actual project itself could not have gone better. The crew was phenomenal. Their attention to detail and quality of work was exquisite. We did not run into a single issue for this entire project and the final result massively exceeded our expectations. AND it finished ahead of schedule! We HIGHLY recommend The Kitchen and Bath Studio. Dan and his crew were wonderful to work with and the quality of their work is exceptional.

James understood my priorities and limited budget, we settled on a few color combinations and design elements, then I took home sample tiles to see how they looked in the sunlit room throughout the day. After a month to let the decisions settle, the contractor was setup and the materials ordered. Very important: the contractor worked directly with Mid-Atlantic, I never had to be in the middle to relay installation assistance or anything ever (including ordering a few extra tiles when we had to add a seat to the design after finding in demolition that under the tub the stairway ceiling encroached into the bathroom floor space.) All materials were politely delivered on time, James was always available for my appointments, he worked seamlessly through the COVID shutdown, and they even accepted returns of a few unused pieces to get them out of my garage. Highly recommend, there were way too many choices and gotchas to approach the design on my own. Working with a professional was the way for me. Recommended!

What should have been an exciting project has turned into an 18-month ordeal with no end in sight. This experience has been plagued by poor communication, poor project management, and incompetent craftsmanship. The project has taken far longer than quoted, and some of the finished work is so poor that it resembles a DIY job--most notably the installation of our patio door and beverage refrigerator. While some cabinets are acceptable, many arrived defective (cracked paint, loose supports, unfinished details), and others were incorrect or never delivered. It became clear that the initial plans were not properly reviewed, resulting in incorrect material orders. We have had to consistently push to get any work completed and repeatedly demand fixes for issues that should have been done the first time correctly. The project manager was largely uncommunicative, deadlines were missed, and there was little evidence of proper oversight. To be fair, the workers on-site were polite. However, the lack of leadership, coordination, and accountability from management made this a frustrating and exhausting experience. After 18 months, we still do not have a functional kitchen. We have been forced to rely on a microwave, air fryer, toaster oven, and frequent dining out. Outstanding issues include: * Missing and uninstalled cabinets (including refrigerator enclosure) * Incorrect and poorly fitting molding * Damaged quartz (including dulling from acetone use and unremovable smudges) * Incomplete drywall, painting, and ceiling repairs * Pantry shelving not installed * Misaligned patio door that does not open properly * Hardware (handles/pulls) never installed This has been a constant battle to get corrections made. Poor communication, missed deadlines, and low-quality workmanship have defined this experience. We cannot recommend VKB or their cabinet vendor. Do not trust them with your remodel.
