The food wasn't that bad, it just wasn't that good. Most of the food tasted burnt, including unfortunately, the barbecue ribs that I was really looking forward to. The açai bowls were the worst açai bowls we've had in a long time. I told my wife that I would want to try them a third and final time because they have sandwiches and I love sandwiches, but she said she would pass on that. Overall, the food is okay. Usually I eat the sandwich about 7 hours after it's made because my wife brings it home from work and I'll eat it for dinner and it still tastes great! Today I stopped by the storefront had my sandwich freshly made and oh boy it blew me away! This place sells probably the best sandwiches I've ever had. The customer service was excellent. The woman working was an absolute pleasure to talk to. The location is small, but still offers a few tables outdoors to enjoy your food. I experienced some inexplicable online ordering problems, which caused my card to be charged three times. Yet even with three purchases, I didn't receive an order confirmation. BUT, the team at Kitchen 1437 could not have been nicer in the their (successful) efforts to cancel out the pending charges and fill the order. I was very impressed with how genuinely caring and responsive they were. And it's good to know about their super convenient pickup window. They have a wide variety of menus to choose from and my Alexander's brown rice & veggie dish from Ani+Salt was delicious. That is exactly what Kitchen 1437 owner, Andrea Davis wanted to bring to a new model of culinary excellence. She calls it a virtual food court, 7 restaurants, 1 order, everyone gets what they want! This all was because of happenstance due to the pivots during covid. Andrea was already a successful caterer and was working with some of these brands that she serves up at Kitchen 1437, but when she acquired all 7 brands, she ran with it. During covid you could not go into to brick and mortal restaurants, you could only order for pick-up or delivery. I remember it was such a horrible time, very tough to be able to navigate. I was the point person for all my mom's food, shopping, errands etc. When we did delivery, it was so comforting to be able to eat our favorite foods from some of our favorite restaurants, It could get costly, so home cooking was paramount, but we needed to be able to indulge in our favorite cuisine just to try to stay sane. These tough times made restaurant owners rethink what they needed to do to stay in business, of course the street patios and food delivery was a fast track to being able to stay open. I think everyone was truly happy that they could still get take home or delivery at their favorite restaurants and the food was just as great and did not suffer from the pandemic. Andrea says that the menu was developed by the chef, and the concept she developed. By she also says that it is not a chef driven restaurant, but instead a food driven restaurant. So this place is a smaller version of the restaurant Bazaar that was on Olympic called The colony. There are seven or eight restaurants working out of here from scratch kitchens. The gentleman working at the register was very friendly and helpful. The Aussie pies were very good, and getting the small size is definitely an option since it filled us up. The reason for the two-star ding was my sandwich from the sandwich. Kitchen was terrible. One of the worst Reubens I've ever had. The meat was cold and stringy. Best pastry crust I've had outside of Paris. Mashed potatoes JUST like my grandmother used to make (the best in the world), the side salad was fresh and delicious. Their ANZAC biscuit is maybe my new fav cookie. I regret only getting one and not the pack of 5. They're that good. Ate absolutely everything without feeling heavy. Just incredibly delicious food. Some of the best I've had in the city and on a taste and quality level Kitchen1437 rivals the most expensive restaurants in town but the prices are SO affordable. A meal this delicious for under $20 (including delivery fee via grubhub!) feels like stealing! My one and only critique (if you can call it that) was that there was quite a bit of tofu in relation to the vegetable ratio in my curry pie, would've loved more veggies. I had the most delicious Asian Chicken salad today at Kitchen1437! It was fresh and fairly priced at $16.99. In fact, I noticed that everything on the menu was on the less expensive end, which was refreshing to see! I also had the fortunate opportunity to meet this restaurant's owner, Andrea. She was incredibly sweet and it's clear that she has worked her butt off (and continues to) designing and building such a unique business. I'm happy that I now know about this place because I live in the neighborhood and will definitely make Kitchen1437 one of my regular lunch spots! Dude, the food here is out of this world GOOD! I'm here every week. Sometimes twice. I've been coming here since they opened. The service is great. Extremely friendly, loyal, and fun! Ambiance is super chic. Tables and umbrellas for under the sun. My personal faves: Both panini's (steak and turkey), chicken/steak/pork burrito's, enchiladas are fire, seared ahi tuna salad is delish, organic strawberry mint lemonade, and can't forget the sweets! Absolute hidden gem! Was looking for a place to grab takeout in a part of town I don't frequent and couldn't have enjoyed this lunch more. Tried both rolls (sausage and spinach and cheese) + side salad and it was all delicious. Rolls were clearly freshly baked and just the right amount of crispy. This place is an absolute gem! I was in the mood for something different and so I noticed that it is a virtual food court where they have this huge and diverse menu in one location. I saw that they have meat pies which are popular in other countries and I was curious. I had the ground beef, pepper steak, sausage roll, and chicken bacon meat pies and was completely blown away. They are so scrumptious with a wonderful flaky crust. They taste so familiar yet I had never had something like this. It was so damn good! I also had an amazing caprese salad that was fresh and delightful. I immediately noticed the very high quality of ingredients and the manner in which the food was prepared. You can taste the quality and the attention to detail. This is basically gourmet level food with good portions at a very fair price. I love high quality food that also has a "down home" feel to it and this place does it. Because they have such a broad menu I have to try other items but I can't quit the meat pies and epic salads just yet. I tried one of their desserts called the lamington and it was this fantastic cake with chocolate and coconut. It was so amazing and not something you would normally see. The quality of the food is outstanding and it offers dishes that are different from the usual stuff you would see. Overnight stay in LA due to a relative's medical procedure. Ordered through GrubHub. I was able to order from various vendors at the ghost kitchen on one order, which I think is a huge advantage. Got the turkey bolognese penne (with side salad) and the chips with guacamole (and red salsa). Everything was so good. The warm chips were some of the best I've ever eaten and the guacamole had a character of its own. The turkey bolognese was low fat and very satisfying. It was such a great meal for a stressful day. I love the Aussie pies here but just tried Wich Bich and was unimpressed, we got two different kinds of turkey sandwiches that were really really dry.
