I arrived at 7:15 pm. The parking lot was crowded and so was the restaurant. I waited for 15 minutes and was seated at a booth by Shania. I requested green tea and a water with lemon. She delivered it promptly. I noticed the people who arrived after me also received fried noodles. I did not get offered any noodles. My sesame chicken arrived at 7:47pm. It was very tasty. I appreciated that it did not have a lot of breading on it. I was first served a plate of curried vegetables. I asked for this as a side with the sesame chicken recommended by my server.i could not have the rice because of my restricted diet. I was shown the curried vegetables by my server and she said she would check to see if it was to be served as a side. The sesame chicken was served with a side of broccoli. When I stayed with my sister at her new place, which is literally like five minutes away from where the mermaids and princes swim, one of the first restaurants I ate at was Kirin China Grill (which I will shorthand to Kirin for the rest of the review). It was quick, EZPZ to get, and fairly priced. Also, New York Style-ish Chinese food seems to be a safe bet with family. How Kirin is rated comes down to simply being the good-on-average most New York Style Chinese food restaurants are. So did Kirin live up to the standard? Technically, more so, but since most New York Style Chinese food restaurants are mostly on par of being good to in between good and excellent, being such has become the new average. Kirin is a smallish, pagoda-looking building on the Southside of Cortez Blvd. in Spring Hill, FL. For added reference, they are about a minute or two driving westward on the road from Commercial Way. The parking lot is ample for the size of the building, and to be fair, my family and I showed up during non-peak hours, like at 3 p.m. With that in mind, the restaurant was a bit on the empty side, but that is understandable. As for decor, the typical, yet traditional, style and lore of Chinese food restaurants were used from the golden dragons, the hanging Chinese lamps, and the Buddha altar. It was a bit more "high-class" in which the chairs also had Chinese art lore into them, compared to a "average-class" Chinese food restaurant that uses the late 80s/early 90s dining chairs typical in minimalistic restaurants of the time. The food was very delicious, and surpassed typical New York style Chinese food taste, but not by much. Just like others, Kirin likes to utilize family portions shared among its members. We kind of over-ordered but we got the following: - Appetizers - 1. Chicken Wings (Probably the biggest surprise of all the food) 2. Crab Rangoons - Main Dishes - 1. Hunan Triple Crown 2. Orange Flavored Chicken 3. Mongolian Chicken 4. House Lo Mein And to top everything off, the restrooms were well-stocked and clean. Once again, must be fair and say we were there during non-peak hours so maybe Kirin was able to stay on top of things. Ultimately, this was an excellent first visit to Kirin. Did it stand out among other New York Style Chinese food restaurants? Yes it did. But given the fact most such restaurants are on par with good which makes it the new average, did Kirin stand out as being above average? Not by much. If there were partial ratings, I would say 3.5 stars over a typical 3, but I will go with 3 for now. I will definitely be back and if Kirin is consistent in their service, I'll make sure to update my rating to give them their fourth star for consistency. Who knows, maybe they'll go above and beyond and get a perfect score. read more

Went to this Chinese place as it is hard to find a sit down Chinese place to eat anymore. The ambiance here is nice, quiet and like the typical family Chinese restaurants you're used to seeing up north. The wait staff are very attentive and polite. We ordered from here tonight using Grub Hub. Although we live a good distance the food was still steaming hot when delivered. We ordered crab Rangoon which was one of the best I have had! It was full of flavor and was a good balance between the filling and the wonton wrapper. We also ordered the fried pork dumplings which were large and delicious. My husband ordered the Happy Family and it came loaded with meats and was so good! I ordered the cashew chicken which also was loaded and had great flavor. The portions were more than expected so we have enough for another meal even! We will for sure order from here again and this may become our "go to" when ordering Chinese food. read more

Our first time at Kirin but won't be the last! The service was fantastic and the restaurant was very clean! The food was fantastic! We started with egg drop soup, egg rolls & crab ragoon. You could tell all were homemade and delicious!!! My husband had beef lo main- the portions were HUGE! I had the shrimp with mushrooms! I counted over 13 jumbo shrimp! (See pix). I subbed fried rice for white (extra $1) the rice rice was the only thing kind of average. Hubby raved about the sweet tea (not too sweet) and I had a pot of tea that was very tasty, too. We went on sat night around 6 pm ant it was a steady rush of dinners and to go orders as well as Uber eats! Our waitress was very friendly, food came out quickly and as expected. This is not your ordinary, Chinese takeout food place. This is a nice sit down to eat Chinese restaurant. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. we had for an appetizer eggrolls and spring rolls cut in half with shredded carrot, garnish and sweet-and-sour sauce. We also had wonton soup that was the best I've ever had. My friend Toni had garlic shrimp with 14 big succulent sized pieces of shrimp. My friend Frank and I both had the pepper steak and it was delicious. Nice warm dining room with pleasant decor. If you're looking for a quick takeout place, I would pass on this place. Sit down and enjoy yourself. You'll pay a little bit more here but it will be for top-notch Chinese food. I know I'll come back. I have driven by this place for so long and I finally stopped in today to give it a try. I have to say: I am absolutely impressed! The staff was very friendly when we arrived (3 of us), and promptly sat us at a table with a friendly smile (at least it looked that way with her eyes lol). The staff worked well as a team: one sat us, one got drinks, another brought out food. And speaking of food! It was amazing! It came out piping hot, extremely large portions, and very tasty! I got the House Lo Mein, my husband got Chicken with Eggplant in Garlic Sauce, and my daughter just opted for WonTon Soup and Spring Rolls. My Lo Mein was so hot (temperature), I had to wait for it to cool down just a tad, they had a great amount of shrimp, Beef and chicken. My daughter wanted to try bites of the meat, and a small bite of noodles and begged me to save her some. Lol. There was no way I could eat it all anyway. The Chicken with Eggplant in Garlic sauce was said to be ok, but not the best he's ever had. I thought it was delicious. (We always try each other's food). This is somewhere we have been meaning to try for a while and finally had the time! Upon entering we were immediately greeted and abused we could sit anywhere. They have a couple of booths and a few tables, all nicely spread out. The location was very clean and had cute Chinese statues and decorations. The service was wonderful and would probably be the reason we would return. Everyone was very kind and attentive. The food was ok. The egg drop soup was my personal favorite. It tasted very fresh and not salty at all which was so nice because a lot of places make it extremely salty. I have the General Tso chicken. It's hard to explain, it tasted fresh but the chicken also had a weird texture to it. It wasn't bad but it definitely threw me off. The rice was ok. Our weekly lunch date with a neighbor who requested Chinese food brought us here - and we were pleasantly surprised! There's a sign outside advertising their lunch special for $7.99 - and the parking lot was almost full. A sign at the door said masks were required, and staff greeted us warmly with their clear visors over a face mask. We were given a choice of booths and we sat down with a paper menu detailing the lunch special, but also with their regular menu with other options. We each chose something different on the special, and our drinks promptly arrived, followed by our soup - egg drop, wonton and hot and sour. I tasted my husband's hot and sour - excellent - and ate my egg drop soup as our neighbor enjoyed her wonton. Our lunches were presented shortly thereafter, and we thoroughly enjoyed them. Lovely small restaurant, clean and neat with simple Asian decor. The service is very good and food arrived quickly. I ordered the hot and sour soup and although it is somewhat different sweeter than other places it was otherwise very flavorful. The steamed dumplings are smaller then most but that is because the shell is the thinnest and most delicat I have ever had and are delicious as all the flavor of the filling isn't hidden by a lot of dough. The only reason I ordered dinner from Kirin China Grill was because of the reviews I saw online. Well after trying to choke down my dinner tonight from them I want to leave my honest review. I don't usually leave reviews unless I'm very happy or very upset and I was very upset about my dinner tonight! The fried rice I ordered has a funny taste without a vegetable in sight. It tasted like flour mixed up with rice. My egg rolls also tasted like the same thing was stuffed into a spring roll and fried up. I know good Chinese food too because it is one of my favorite dishes. I was totally let down by this Kirin China Grill. My husband ordered Pork lo Mein and the noodles were not lo mein, they were spaghetti noodles. My husband called and was met with disagreement from staff who insisted it must be me who was wrong because other customers were happy. No refund was offered, and it was VERY expensive..They explained they have the best egg rolls because they put flour in them..Who puts flour in eggrolls? It was like a ball of goo wrapped in a fried won ton skin I honestly don't know how they got such good reviews I will never ever eat at this Chinese Restaurant again! I looked for a good Chinese restaurant and this one had a good rating. The parking lot was almost full so I figured we had made a good choice. Inside I discovered it's a hangout for the Sr crowd. Crab Rangoon's were perfectly cooked. Wonton soup and egg drop soup served with a crispy noodles. The soups are good with lots of flavor. Chow mein rasted good. Equal to what we consider better than average. This is the first I've had mei fun. I love the small noodles. It wasn't over seasoned with garlic and sesame oil. I could have use a little more but it tasted delicious. The portions served aren't over large as some places. A normal appetite will fish with no take home. I would come again. read more

We painstakingly researched every Chinese food establishment around us before landing on Kirin. It was amazing! We are originally from here but have since moved to Cali. I remember when they built this place but I hadn't tried it. I am so glad this is the place we chose! Everyone who worked there was super friendly, we ordered there for a Togo order and it was done within 10 minutes. I ordered the chicken Mei Fun noodles which were phenomenal. It looked like it wouldn't have much flavor but I was so wrong 10/10. My husband got general Tso's chicken and it came with perfectly cooked broccoli, all delicious!! Bottom Line: Awesome service and incredible food as always! My family and I always order take out from here - everything we order tastes fresh and well-prepared so I figured it was about time to dine-in for once! I came for lunch today with my fiance and my co-worker who hadn't been before. We were greeted promptly and politely and brought menus. The sitting area is one room but nicely decorated and clean. The three of us are very indecisive people when it comes to ordering food so, despite the fact our waitress had to come back to our table three times before we were all ready, she was very nice and patient with us. So the Crispy Duck with Vegetables and Steamed White Rice was calling my name. My fiance, Brian ordered Egg Drop Soup and the Special LoMein with Pork, Chicken, and Beef and my coworker ordered appetizer sizes of the Sweet and Sour Shrimp and Boneless Ribs. Brian's soup came out in a jiffy (do people still use this phrase?) and it was a pretty thick, gelatinous consistency with bright green onions and crunchy noodles sprinkled on top. Having tried everyone's meals (with or without consent lol) I'll give you my two cents. The Egg Drop Soup: I've had egg drop soup in the past but they've always been a straight-up liquid consistency. This one is thick and egg-like. It was quite good and I could picture myself slurping this up on a rainy day or when I'm feeling sick. TIP: If you enjoy textural variations, ask for extra crispy noodles. LoMein Special: Delightful. Not too greasy. Not too heavy. Lots of vegetables and full of flavor. It was hard not to lick the plate clean. Sweet N Sour Shrimp: Scrumptious till the last bite. I'll tell you one thing (of many) that this place does right is their breading and frying. It's always so, so good. It's never soggy. It's never too greasy. And the ratio of fried goodness to the actual thing being fried is always on point. When you bite into your food guess what? It's a clean bite and you don't end up with your chicken or shrimp in your mouth with the rest of the fried goodness hanging on the fork. (I'm calling you out, Onion Rings!!!). It's all about the ratios of this to that and that to this. Otherwise, you might as well eat wet dog food and call it a day. Boneless Spare Ribs: Juicy and delicious. It's hard to pass these puppies up with their bright red and pink sauce drawing your attention away from everything else not as vibrant on the table. Crispy Duck: When I ordered this I was imagining "crispy" as in duck skin that was roasted to a nice crisp and the juices and fat just oozing out of it. It came to me in strips, fried over a bed of vegetables in brown sauce. Not what I was expecting but I did not regret my decision. The breading (same one they use for the sweet n sour shrimp I imagine) was just enough to add that nice crunchy contrast to the melt-in-your-mouth dark, fatty, juicy, duck. Yes.
