Purchased a house recently in the Concord area. During the inspection, the inspector noted quite a few issues with the electrical including the circuit panel right above a bathroom sink (this was a first time for them seeing one in a location so close to a water source). Adam gave us a very reasonable estimate to relocate the panel as well as updating most of our outlets. His team, especially Andrew were amazing. Extremely professional, fast, and not overly expensive as electrical work goes. Once they arrived on site, we did a walkthrough of the house and the items on the to-do list, and they got to work. I was quoted that they would be done around 3pm, but completed the work by 1:30. They even recommended a crew that would complete drywall and painting, so an added bonus. We're in an old house that's needed electrical work on more than one occasion (full panel rewire, shorted external power, EV charger install). We've always used Kirby - Adam and his team have handled all of the issues with speed, professionalism, and most importantly, honesty. Most recently, the lights throughout our house were flickering and outlet voltages were all over the place so of course I called Adam. He picked up immediately, diagnosed the issue over the phone as a PGE issue, and gave me instructions on who to call and what to tell them so we could get the repair done for free. I reached out to Kirby Electric for help with six electrical tasks. He responded a day later (said he was on vacation -- fair enough), but after that, I didn't hear back until I followed up two weeks later. We scheduled an estimate, but he canceled the morning of and gave me a verbal quote over the phone: $1,350-$1,650, saying, "These are pretty much right on." Weeks later, the work was done -- but only three of the six items were completed, with no explanation for the rest. I had to spend nearly an hour cleaning up drywall debris they left behind in my garage. I also had to remind them to install a faceplate before they left. What was done: Outlet for fireplace New circuit for microwave Outlet for internet equipment What wasn't done: Front yard light options New controller for yard lighting (this was the actual goal) Diagnostic of backyard lighting BBQ outlet (larger job -- we agreed to hold off. Although it may have been completed if he showed up for the estimate to provide options) Despite only completing half the work, I was charged $2,200 -- $550 over the high end of the estimate. Their pricing was competitive and the quality was great - no cutting corners, no upselling on unnecessary work, and no nickel-and-diming on change orders. Adam gave great input from initial design to execution and his team pushed back in very helpful ways whenever there were better options I hadn't considered, when they could have just shrugged and followed early ideas without question. They were super easy to work with and always reachable when I had questions. They coordinated well with other contractors and my GC had only great things to say about their crew. The project felt like a collaboration where with other bidders things felt like a negotiation. Adam and his wife also run a real estate business and their broad experience was invaluable during the design phase in making sure that the electrical plans worked well with all the other aspects of the property. Adam also seemed genuinely invested in getting the scope of work documented as thoroughly and accurately as we could from the very beginning, which made everything run smoothly. They seem well-connected in the area. Adam managed to snag a panel that was in high demand when no others could. Their connections with PG&E kept the utility side of things moving quickly. There were no surprise costs--I expected change orders but they got through nearly everything from just the original contract, even when some of the materials ended up coming out higher in cost than Adam's original estimates. Adam came out and gave me an estimate on electrical work. He did not say it was required but he recommended a whole house rewire...:for $25K 1 the estimate seemed high 2 i found another electrician that was able to fix a few problems I had without an entire rewire and at a very affordable price I did hire Kirby Electric to do some other electrical work and I'm not convinced the value was there Anthony came out with another worker. I'm not sure they needed two workers though when I asked Adam insisted it was less expensive to have two workers than one because they will do more than two times the amount of work as one person would do so I took his word for that. When they came out, that did not seem to be the case. There appeared to be times when one person was not busy. Anthony did a great job! i don't think they needed two workers and it would've been nice if they suggested options other than a whole house rewire. The option they gave me other than whole house rear wire is to pay an hourly rate for an unknown amount of hours. The Other electrician told me exactly what needed to be done and what it would cost. Personally, I would not use them again, but that's up to you. read more

Kirby Electric installed 14 recessed LED lights + 3 light switches for my vaulted ceilings. There's no attic space and luckily I had an upcoming re-roof project where the electricians can access the top and run the wiring. Solved my problem with a phone call! Adam Kirby was the 4th electrician I called. Although they were pretty well booked up, he was still willing to come out and try to help me figure out what was going on. However, after listening to all the various problems I was having in the house, he strongly felt that my problem was PG&E equipment. In fact of all the calls I made, he was the only one to suggest my problems were from PG&E equipment and not my house is wiring. I reached out and set up for an electrician to come out and check out our garage to install a 240v outlet for our Tesla X, but was basically stood up. I made every effort to stay home and finally received a text message saying they would come at a certain time (refer to photo) but they never showed up, followed up, or apologized for missing this appointment.
