It pains me to leave this review as being from the Isla Bonita myself the last thing I want to do is talk about an establishment that serves my culture food but I waited 45 mins to get my food. Figured can't go wrong with a simple choice like white rice and beans and beans with pigeon peas with chicken chunks, needles to say it was all so salty and seems they use a curry or cardamom spice which is not a Puerto Rican spice. The alcapuria was so salty I could not finish it. The portions are small and over priced. I truly hope you make some adjustments to the amount of sodium you add to your meals so th read more

Ambiance is small and cozy, something very nostalgic...like entering someone home. We came during the week, right before closing which is at 8. Seats are limited but we were lucky enough to beat any rush. We were so hungry that we ordered with our hunger not realizing we'd get stuffed quickly lol. Sampler a little bit of the high light fried goodies in Puerto Rico. We got the tripleta sandwich to share and barely were able to stand lol. Make sure to try their delicious green sauce! Would go back and try more of the menu read more

Food and services was amazing owner is always present and friendly would definitely recommend eating here.

I have come to this establishment 3 times. I kept trying to see if maybe I came on an off day, but unfortunately every time I ate there, the food was extremely salty. I ordered different items every occasion and all were overly salted. Not only mine order by the party I was with. Sad, because the food would be delicious if not for that. read more

Kiosko 787 is a gem that one could easily walk past! Al's food, presentation and energy is warm but resolute - he started this enterprise to feed people the food he enjoys from his family and he does not apologize for his own accents on dishes people may otherwise have loaded expectations about. Leave the preconceived notions of what "authentic" means aside when you come here and just enjoy the slice of warmth and pride Al infuses in his menu and dishes, you won't regret it! The service is excellent, and Al checked in with my friend and me as we were wrapping up our meal, which led to a wonderful conversation between us three! Al, thanks for sharing good vibes and good eats with us on your terms! read more

Food is excellent but the service is extremely slow (especially on the weekends). When we got here we were told an hour wait to sit and that we should've made a reservation. The website makes no mention of reservations - they should mention in their website "reservations recommended for weekends". They also only had one person working - she was great but poor woman was handling the take out orders, and she was waitressing/busing as well. They clearly need another staff person working Sunday afternoons. I'm taking two stars off because the wait for take out was absurd. We were told it'd be 20 minutes and it's been 50 minutes already. read more

It is the worse place I order food. First , food is too much salt . Second,Service is very bad . If order is not delivered, they will tell you they gonna do refund back to you in 24 hours . As the matter of fact , you wait for nothing. They just cheated the customers. they don't do refund .. . I called three times to the restaurant . That lady who pick up the call from the store why not report to the boss . Do you think you are innocent. The answer is no. You know what happen . You just don't care because that is not your money . a person who call restaurant three times for refund . do you think that is trick ? it that how you train people for work . If yes , meaning that you do it on purpose . why ! Easily answer , money going to my pocket, I will not give it back to anybody . that is the words from your heart. read more

What can I say....authentic Puerto Rican food at its finest. The ambiance, the food, the owner/chef...Everything was amazing. Brought me back to being on La Isla más bonita! FYI you need reservations cause trying to walk in is nearly impossible with everyone trying to get a taste! LOL But do yourself a favor and check them out. You will not regret it! read more

The food here is delicious. This is the best ethnic Puerto Rican food I have tasted in New York. Service is not bad. You have to get the waiter's attention when you are ready to order. But that is only because it is small. So have patience because you will have to wait to be seated. Do not expect your food to come out as if this is AppleBees. They cook everything fresh, nothing frozen here. The place has a very wonderful ambiance atmosphere. You are sitting close to each other as if you are in a movie theater. But at a table with chairs. But you get to conversate with others. Definitely will be coming back very very soon and recommending this to others if they want real Spanish food. read more

Even with reservations we were made to wait in the rain. Then told we have to wait 2 hrs. Then told we would be texted when we can be let in. When let in the only empty table was dirty. Waited 20 minutes, standing by it to be cleaned. We sat down and waited, and waited. Finally the owner came in and asked are you waiting to order. We started to order when he said "I noticed your face, you have to have patience". Very rude. Unexpected comment. He continued by saying the place is small and I can't fit 4 waitresses in here. Never apologize, nor tried to make us feel welcomed. Actually dismissed us. Do not recommend it at all. Not even the owner had any manners, or any business sense. There are other places I can leave my money in. read more

Great food for a small place. We finally decided to pay this restaurant a visit. What flavor packed in there food!!! We ordered the Pastelon paradise bowl. Awesome flavor with a big portion! Kiosko 787 - Just arrived. - Puerto Rican Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Bacalaitos are $8.95, not $6.95 as stated on the menu. The food is okay, very very expensive ($27 for mofongo with shrimp??) the shrimp was tiny and tasteless. Mofongo usually takes a while to make, this mofongo came out in 2 minutes which means it was already made. The worst part of the dining experience is the owner talking, he didn't shut up. Telling everyone about how his chef walked out and that he had to work the front of the store and then telling everyone that he had the best food in the world, etc, etc. I think the owner was either drunk or on something. I definitely will not be going here again. read more

Kisoko 787 in Gowanus has quickly become a favorite spot. In just three weeks, we've already ordered from here twice - which is saying something for me as I typically opt to try somewhere new every time I go out to eat/order dinner. With two orders under our belts, we have tried several items already. The Alcapurrias, Cuban sandwich, Relleno de Papa, and the Tripleta Sandwich all immediately come to mind as standouts (many of these items were already ordered 2x). I sometimes worry about ordering fried items through delivery but found that these items arrive still hot and crispy every time. I am thrilled to have this spot in the neighborhood and know this will continue to be a go to spot moving forward. read more

First time coming here. I love how the restaurant looks like a home in Puerto Rico. Once inside you are greeted and seated . They have a small amount of tables which I love because everyone will be serviced and checked over. The waitress was kind and helpful. Now to the food. The food was delicious. You can't go wrong with some rice and beans. Yes they do serve a hefty plate. This restaurant gives off visiting family vibe which is great for a restaurant. read more

Awesome little place. The best Puerto Rican food I have ever eaten in a restaurant. The flavor is spot on without being overpowering: I did not taste an overdose of Sazon, garlic or grease in anything at all . The alcapurrias were all delicious esp the crab . The pork chop kan kan was unbelievable, crispy outside but tender inside; the pulled pork was for me a tad salty But my companions loved it. The arroz con gandules was perfect. The pastele!!! Cooked in a banana leaf as it should be, the masa was the perfect texture and filling was delicious, included a touch of onion pepper and other vegetable with lots of meat as it should. Even the salads were taken seriously. I found the tres leches cake a little too sweet but again others in our party loved it. Food was fab. Portion size was good. Services was kind. Atmosphere very casual and tables a bit crowded. Only surprise was that most PR restaurants will serve arroz con pollo, asopao, and .... A PR restaurant without avocado in the salad? OK well they don't do those. We will be going back. read more

Well MR.AL. I like to see your response on this situation I've had to experience this past Friday I came into your establishment of business to try your food and start a new beginning since you were upset at my first post giving you a three star an not understanding why you took it so bad I said your food was ok I said nothing bad about the food. All I said it's quite a small place. Well let me tell you I came into on Friday with my wife a daughter of 35yrs of age an my grandson of 19 months he walks talks and eats with utensils. I was greeted by the dirty blond lady at the register and ask how my people were being seated I told her 3 an half. Looking at the people eating at there tables. 4 were being occupied she walked us to the table to the left as you walk in the main door with no one sitting there. She walks us to a long table with the menu in her hand she stops a tells us that she don't have any seats available. I looked at my family and couldn't make out what she said that there's no availability looking at empty chairs and table. Do you have any idea how humiliating it was to not be seated looking at empty chairs a table. MR. AL I'm not here to bash you or your place of business I appreciate an Hispanic owned restaurant trying to make it in today's economy. And I saw you on my way out bringing in merchandise for your business and I wanted to ask you what's wrong with that lady for turn us away but I was embarrassed for my family to experience this in our own culture establishment. Keep in mind Friday 4:45pm not cool disrespectful and unacceptable. Well I really wish you all the best because times ain't easy and if that's the way your staff chooses to run your place it's not going to be a great future for your business. read more

Came yesterday for dinner with my husband and it did NOT disappoint. The place is a cozy spot on Carrol Street with counter and regular tables indoors. Also have a few tables outdoor as well. With the feeling of being transported back to the island, I felt the experience was definitely authentic. The server was doing her best, even with a full restaurant. Since there were no tables available inside, I sat myself outside while waiting for my husband. Made friends with the guests on the next table, chatted with the owner while waiting for the server. I can see why some may come to leave one star reviews as it can get crowded and the wait time can be long. However, the owner and staff are very upfront about the estimated time wait and I can see they are growing and looking to improve. I will not lie and say I didn't come with a little hesitation due to all the negative reviews and arguments back and forth, but I am so glad I did give it a try. Our dishes came all together (there's no appetizer - main course schedule). The mofongo with carne frita was really good, one of the better ones I've had here in NYC. The alcapurria was ok, flavorful but still felt like something was missing. Their arroz con gandules is LEGIT. Rivals mine (and I take pride of my rice lol). With than being said, pls be mindful that this is a LOCAL small owner. Don't try to destroy someone else's business without basis. read more

The platanos and the beans are out of this world amazing!!! Delicious house-made hot sauces, too. I refuse to give less than 5 stars because 1.) this is a new place 2.) a small, local, neighborhood business But - the steak was dry and the rice was not cooked enough, still hard.
