This was an absolute nightmare!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE! I was promised my lengha ( which I purchased at a nearby store and was expensive) would be ready in 3 weeks, a deadline THEY set. When I showed up to collect it, not only was the job incomplete, there was an AWFUL smell coming from my lengha AND I FOUND STAINS ON MY BRAND NEW OUTFIT!! THEY asked me to come back the next day and that they would fix it. I returned on Sunday--and the work was still incomplete!!! I tried on my outfit and it was still not fitted and had a lot of issues. After pointing out all the issues AGAIN, I was then asked to give them 30 minutes more, when I went back (now for a 3rd time) - IT WAS STILL NOT DONE, I was very upset and just ended up taking my outfit as is because this is just beyond ridiculous at this point. During my 3 visits in 2 days, every time I tried to address these issues, the tailor became openly hostile, raising their voice at me and my friends. Their behavior was unacceptable. I had to demand that they lower their voice when speaking to me. I had to bargain to reduce the price since the work WAS NOT COMPLETED and the wife and husband CONTINUED TO BE AGGRESSIVE AND HOSTILE. They raised their voice and said that they would unstitch my outfit if I did not pay... The store owner of where I brought my lengha from even called and told him that this is unacceptable and he was charging me too much. The tailor started to raise his voice at him and the female manager of the other store. This business operates without a shred of professionalism, respect, or accountability. Their treatment of customers is beyond disgraceful. If you care about your clothing and want to be treated decently, avoid this place at all costs!!!!!! THEY ARE THE WORST! I was like, it is $300 lehenga, they are charging so much, hopefully, it will stitch well, and worth it. This guy, totally butchered blouse. Extremely low quality workmanship overall even on lehenga. They agreed that blouse fitting is not wearable and blamed it on the fabric, yet expected full payment of $170. Kinnary Tailors came to my rescue! I had purchased a lahenga in NYC and had alterations done in the city by someone who was supposed to be great. They did a terrible job, so bad that I decided I had to find another outfit for my daughter's upcoming wedding. But then Kinnary Tailors was recommended. Thank goodness I went there! They assessed the situation and explained how it could be fixed. Instead of making me take another trip from the city, they suggested my family and I shop in town or grab a bite and come back in 1 1/2 hours. As promised, the alterations to my lahenga were done in less than 2 hours. It now fits perfectly and I will be able to wear it as planned. I'm so happy with the quality of their work. This is the worst level of customer service imaginable. I brought two items to get tailored and the price was $100. The clothes were supposed to be ready Wednesday as discussed. Wednesday come, I call before leaving my house and they said everything was ready and good to go. I get here and then they tell me ITS NOT READY and that I have to come back after 3. I leave and then get there at 4:30 and the suits are still not done!! After I confronted the person behind the register, some lady comes out and starts stitching the clothing quickly with no care or precision. I was so enraged that I threatened to call the police if they didn't give me my clothes back, and that's when the ignoramus finally handed me my clothing. This place is ran by liars, thieves, and the scum of earth. Do NOT come here. Absolutely horrible. read more

Please save yourself the aggravation and STEER CLEAR! Sub-par work - to put it mildly. Needed a layered skirt shortened and the owner said since it has 2 layers, so it would cost extra. When we went to pick up, the owner had closed the shop and gone home. Had to drive back twice more and finally when it was ready, found out that he had shortened one layer of the skirt only and left the inner layer showing off of the first layer -unaltered. When we pointed out this huge flaw, he argued and tried to gaslight us that it HAS been altered already! If you are going to do a poor job, at least do not insult the customer and their senses by trying to convince the customer that what they are seeing in front of their eyes is not real. What a bad bad bad experience, not just because of the awful skills they have in tailoring but how they try to convince the customer that they are wrong in expecting a decent job. In hindsight, we should have read all the bad reviews before visiting this shop. Please believe the other negative reviews here, they are speaking after being burnt. read more

Completely unprofessional and sub-par work. Went here to get 4 outfits tailored. Busy Saturday...we walked in and were greeted immediately. The man who was helping us told my friends to try on their outfits and afterwards he will decide what he can do. Fair enough...once the outfits were on, it took him forever to attend to us. Even during the process of measurements, he kept taking other customers. Once he made note of the adjustments, he gave us the total and said we can pay when we pick up the items. I told him I would want to come back with my friends in about 4 weeks which is the next time they will be in town. I gave him the exact date and time frame. He said that would be fine it would definitely be ready for pick up. 4 weeks later on a weekday morning, we go to pick up the clothes. They couldn't find them. The guy who we worked with before said they were moved to another warehouse "3 hours away" and to come tomorrow. He even said I should've called the week before to remind him...rude. Why would you move expensive clothing to another location without consulting with the customer? I absolutely could not return the next day, as my friends were only in town for 1 day and I refuse to pick up tailored clothing before ensuring it fits well. I told him we will be back late afternoon to collect them and to figure out a way to get the clothes. He surely did...and the tailoring job was messy. I had to tell them to fix some things on the spot. I would not return and do not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I brought my wedding dress here for the very first time and they did a perfect job of tailoring it to my size. I was nervous at first because my outfit was actually a bit smaller in size, but they did a clean job of opening it up perfectly. I've been going to them since then and haven't had any issues. My fiancee messaged via FB to confirm completion on Aug 8, called to confirm on the 9th and of course, came here today Atul's wife played dumb (honestly though, she really pretty dumb, so the "played" part is debatable) for 45 minutes saying she could not locate the blouse. She threw around a ton of blouses claiming they all were my fiancees blouse...Then the story changed that she had sent the blouse out to a different tailor. Next, she asked my fiancee to pick a blouse off the rack and she'd stitch it for us on the spot. When I asked her to call Atul ASAP, she claimed that her husband had a funeral to attend and that it was an emergency situation so he is not available to help. My fiancees blood was boiling at this point. After I came in to the store, and after almost an hour of arguing, she finally goes to the cabinet and pulls out the unstitched material - they never stitched the blouse and knew very well that they hadn't! She was whole heartedly making up bullshit for an hour thinking I'd buy it. Got our money back, but after driving out from Philadelphia to NJ for this shitty place and for your typical scumbag Edison tailors, I'd advise everyone to avoid coming here. In the summer of 2018, I was in dire straits. My wedding was in 2 weeks and the lehenga I had bought in Delhi needed alternations. I had never had traditional Indian clothes altered in the US before and had no idea where to go. My mother-in-law-to-be had told me about Kinnari, and though I was skeptical after seeing some of these online reviews, I was also desperate and decided to give them a call. My mother and I spoke to Uncle on the phone and explained what needed to be done. My lehenga skirt had to be shortened and the can-cans removed. Uncle and my mom brainstormed an idea to make the can-cans into a separate skirt, so I could wear them under my lehenga if I wanted that particular look, but could also easily remove them myself. We repeatedly emphasized that it had to be completed in a week. Then off we drove to Iselin. While the basement store was small and no-frills, Uncle and Aunty understood exactly what I needed. He explained that he would cut the length from near the top of the skirt so that the embroidery at the bottom would not be disturbed. I hadn't thought of this simple but very smart solution. A few days later, I called ahead to make sure it was ready and then went in. The can-cans had been beautifully removed and made into a separate skirt as promised. The length was shorter but still needed a minor adjustment. They were able to make that change in an hour's time while I grabbed lunch nearby. On my second trial, the skirt was absolutely perfect. Best of all, it was altered in such a way that it didn't happen even look like it had been altered at all. They just nailed it. My lenhenga looked fabulous at my wedding and my experience with Kinnary was nothing short of awesome. I will continue to recommend them to everyone I know who needs traditional Indian clothing tailored. read more

I recently got a few items fixed here and I am really happy with the results and the entire process! They did major alterations on a blouse that was way too big and two skirts very quickly and did a great job! The blouse in particular was a very difficult alteration but they did it perfectly! When I went to try it on, i has just a few minor additions/changes I wanted to make to my items and they did them on the spot. I highly recommend them for simple tailoring and more complicated items as well. The results are great and they are also really nice and easy to work with. Bonus, the accept venmo! They possibly are great to their regular clients. I brought in an outfit and they were initially very nice however they only did the bottom of the outfit and didn't do the sleeves or the tailoring of the sides. When I get there he does the sleeves in five minutes and does such a sloppy job and made an excuse as to why the rest wasn't done. Ended up brining the outfit to another tailor who was appalled by the sleeves and ended up fixing the whole outfit. Unfortunately i recommended him to two of my bridesmaids and with both of them, the work was clearly rushed and he told them that he forgot about their outfits and they had to come back the following week. I would avoid coming here. They were nice but not reliable and unfortunately not very concerned about being professional. Perhaps if you go there numerous times they will start to show some concern. read more

I had a awful experience with this tailor. First of all, they need to learn how to talk to their customer. when I went there, the three people in there (2 men 1 woman) acted like I was invisible for a good minute. then I was just coldly asked 'kya chahye' . I was asked to pick up the suit on Sunday (1 week later), and when I called to confirm on Sunday, he tells me he's at a wedding and I can't get it until two days later, claiming he told me that when I left the suit. ok fine, I guess he made a mistake so I accommodate their schedule even though it was an inconvenience for me. on Tuesday I call them again and I'm told twice to call back in an hour. upon calling the third time, the tailor literally YELLS at me, saying "I told you to come get it when I spoke to you last". to this I snapped back because I was done being ridiculed and mistreated repeatedly. I had my husband pick up the suit because I didn't want to deal with this jerk, and guess what? he returned with a damaged suit!! all the threading and beading work on the suit is torn like as if they threw my suit around carelessly. horrible business owners, horrible place. I don't understand the positive friendly reviews, I would never recommend this place to anyone. plenty of other places around in Edison where they will at least say hello when you give them business. read more

Kinary tailors were the worst service out of any services I have ever received whether it be at a restaurant, beauty salon or tailor. They were very unprofessional. They told me a date they would be done and were not ready til 3 weeks later when I threatened to come collect my work and take it elsewhere. I gave them unstitched material to make outfits with and when altered they were HORRENDOUS. They completely destroyed the skirt and made weird pleats and made up an excuse as to why both outfits looked beyond disgusting. They also over charged unnecessarily. The zips and hooks they attached to the outfits were poorly stitched and poor quality. This is the worst tailoring service I have ever ever seen and no one should ever go to them.
