New legends I say with a good amount of everything from card to dnd and war hammer one can't miss the fun of having a moment to appreciate the enthusiasm of stories and lore. I'm not fully acknowledged in the lore however it's got me searching for stories whenever I go in game shops like this. The place got a good value of collectors and staff is at most friendly people I have met. The quality is in what you make of it. Kingslayer Games is one of my go to spots whenever I am itching to rip some pack! This spot is located in a plaza with a good amount of parking spots. Inside, they are usually hosting card events and games are filled with tons of Pokemon TCG, Magic, One Piece, and Yu-Gi-Oh cards. I was able to pick up some of the new Mega Evolutions packs here. My boyfriend and I walked in here yesterday spontaneously to buy Final Fantasy x Magic: The Gathering Commander Decks. Everything was extremely neat and easy to find here. They had a huge selection of Final Fantasy decks to choose from, as we went to two other game stores before this one and didn't see much at all. Fun Fact: Today, my boyfriend drove here again while I was napping to pick up another Final Fantasy x Magic: The Gathering Commander Deck - that's how much he loved his experience here, haha. Really loved coming to the events and tournaments here. The staff is very professional and treat you like family. The hospitality is grade A+. I love that they have so many games and events to choose from. Perfect for war hammer, pokemon, yugioh, digimon, and magic the gathering. Would not recommend this store at all. The card selection is either whatever or way out or range. The service from their staff are great ans they're willing to help out to teach new games which is great. But. The prices on sealed product is atrocious. Pokemon they overcharge on MSRP in a crap time killing a community and sometimes drag other games as well. The prices tend to be very behind as they mark it way too high and the prices won't be updated for a long time. The owner loves to attack his own community as well so I rather not give him any money at all. Would not recommend this store at all with how poor and unprofessional the owner is. read more

My kids and I have recently gotten into Pokemon, card collecting and playing the actual card game, so we decided to stop by Kingslayer to see if there was any cards we could pick up. The staff was more welcoming and friendly than any other card store we've been to before. They had a pre-release tournament going on, but were still happy to show us around the store and help us find what we were looking for. Pricing was on par with market, so don't expect MSRP, but the staff was so helpful and welcoming that I would gladly support their business when I have the cash. I had a very disappointing experience at Kingslayer Games in Lake Forest. I was told by the manager that there were still OP-15 booster boxes available, so I waited in line for about 40 minutes. When I finally got near the register, I was then told they were sold out and that I could only purchase six packs instead. This was extremely frustrating and could have easily been avoided with basic communication. If the product sells out, customers in line should be informed immediately instead of wasting their time. What made the situation worse was my conversation with the owner, Travis. While he admitted they "dropped the ball," he also accused me of encouraging people to leave the store--even though he wasn't present and had no firsthand understanding of what actually happened. That accusation was completely inaccurate. I was simply informing other customers that booster boxes were sold out so they could decide if they still wanted to wait. Between the poor communication and being wrongly accused, this experience left a very negative impression. read more

I've never been a Trading Card Game player before, and to be honest I've been intimidated by the gameplay and by the players in the past. So much to remember, the learning curve, and the competition with seasoned players. I discovered Kingslayer (Lake Forest) Dec. '23 at a Learn to Play event for Disney Lorcana. I was pleasantly surprised to find a knowledgeable and approachable staff, a fun and easy to comprehend 1-on-1 tutorial on how to play, and the most warm and welcoming community of people just like me; looking to play and have a great time with authentic people, building friendships and connection. The store has an incredible selection of products and games from Pokémon, One Piece, Star Wars, and Magic. There's always plenty of stock, but if something is out the team has always been quick to reorder and restock. Their prices are great too! Usually I just order on Amazon, but I love supporting small local businesses like this, especially when the prices are competitive and I don't have to wait for shipping. I've recently joined their weekly Lorcana League group, and now I've got an amazing group of friends who I look forward to seeing each week. I've been more happy these last 5 weeks than I've been in the last five years thanks to this amazing little piece of nerd-heaven in Lake Forest. Thank you so much. read more

I stopped by this store for the first time and I was greeted right away even though the staff was helping out other people. They were very welcoming and answered all my questions. The people inside were also pretty cool and made me feel comfortable. Even the people who play here are solid and very welcoming. Since opening the community has grown and many of them are new to games, including many different couples and families, so the store has solid mix of competitive and casual players. Kinglayer is the most welcoming hobby store I've ever been to. The staff and other customers always made me feel welcome and included. They are very fast to respond on theirs Socials so I have never had any trouble having a spot reserved for their events. Other hobby stores suffer from Gatekeeping that these communities can sometimes attract. I always felt prioritized when I had a request from ordering a product, attending an event. They would have a product I wanted transferred from their Oceanside location to Lake Forest for my convenience. Now that's service! When I purchased products there, they told me about the discount they gave to people on their Discord server and let me sign up then and there. I found this place completely by accident, but now it's my favorite place to go. read more

Honestly frustrating that this shop constantly faces sell out crowds for events and will turn away multiple customers because of lack of space while having people hanging out taking up whole tables/open space who aren't even participating in scheduled events. Came into the shop with one of my buds right before closing. Was greeted by the GOAT known as Gabe, he was quick to assist us in our questions and was very friendly overall. Great guy definitely someone to have in front for a new shop! The selection of cards and sealed project they had were priced fairly, was a small but nice selection for a new store! The trade is process is also straight forward and well thought out. The only thing I have to complain about is the heat in the store. Ever since I started going, I've experienced unwavering excellence in their customer service & overall friendliness. It's definitely helped keep me coming back for more. To shout out the staff, Gabe, Alex, Ivan, Patrick, and any other name I missed, all folks working at this location are great at what they do. I feel safe buying/preordering products from them knowing it's the best quality & untampered, and their prices are mostly good deals (at least fair). As far as the community goes, they keep the good energy going even beyond the store with their online communities on Discord, so I feel like I'm pretty much always connected to the Kingslayer family. Kingslayer in LF is consistently the kindest and most helpful hobby shop I've frequented in my 15 years of nerd behavior. The crew at LF are friendly and smart, and they run crowded events effectively. They're flexible with extremely limited space and try hard to be fair about open play vs events. This place has been amazing ever since it opened up. Unfortunately there isn't a yugioh community here yet, but the Lorcana scene is very healthy. Not only is the community that is built in the shops a very nice and friendly one, but the store staff is amazing too. Not only are they helpful and knowledgeable, but they are literally the nicest people ever which is a big difference from other stores. Store is always clean and prices are fair and not always hype/market prices on goods unless there is a reason. read more
