Extremely bad. I went to this salon for years until this happened last time I got my nails done over the summer. The technician asked if I wanted long or short nails. I said long. She then proceeded to rush carelessly and aggressively through it. I said something to her because she was not only doing a very bad job on my nails, but also hurting my cuticles. The more I said anything to her about the work she was doing, the more it seemed to get worse. I made a comment to her about it hurting, and she replied with "well you should have let me know when you made the appointment that you wanted long nails because I have someone else waiting and I didn't have time to do long nails." I honestly would have been fine with short nails if she told me that from the beginning, so I don't understand why she offered it if she didn't have time. I was practically in tears before it ended. When I tried to get my money back the next day, she tried to say it was my fault it turned out like that because "I wouldn't stay still" which was absolutely not true. I might have winced AFTER she had already made multiple cuticles bleed. I was absolutely speechless that she let me walk out with my nails looking like this. My daughter and I went here for nail services on June 1, 2022. I got gel manicure and regular pedi, and she an acrylic fill with gel polish. The bill was $110, when just down the road it was $120 for a full set for her, then gel mani, regular pedi, and eyebrow wax for myself. My nails look like my young niece did them. The sides have no polish, some of my skin still has polish not cleaned off. The tools were not sterilized. This is my go-to nail salon when I visit my parents. I recommend them except for the gentleman who works there. Unfortunately, he cut my cuticle in such a way that I was left bleeding for longer than the usual little cuts I've gotten from time to time (rarely) over the years. When I kindly asked for some form of discount by way of a future gift cert for my mom, who's a regular, they said no and explained to the best of my understanding that this just happens. I tried to give them a chance to rectify the situation since we are regulars, but I take it they would rather just lose a customer. read more

I rarely give nail salons a shout because it bores me , quite frankly. Id much rather discuss anything OTHER than an activity where I am forced to sit still at length and pretend I dig it. I HATE GETTING MY NAILS AND TOES DONE! LOL I only do it because I like the result, but my ADHD usually finds this process to be EXCRUCIATING! :) Having gotten that outta my system, this lil place out in the boonies of Silver Spring, deserves a shout for one technician. Sara. Ive gone to hundreds of nail shops, had scads of nail techs and believe me when I say it is hard to find a tech that can replicate all the cool crap you all see on pinterest or the latest Real Housewife, LOL but Sara can pretty much duplicate any design you bring her, and well. She amazed me with the ability to leap from conservative monochromatic nails for work, to the absolute latest in colorful, over the top ratchetness for my trip to the carribbean. :) My favorite part...SHE IS SUPER FAST! I LOOOOOOOVE a nail technician that can do some kick ass nails annnd not have you sitting there for 10 years while they try to sculpt the perfect shape. I find that SOOOO frustrating. I dont want to spend more than 2 hours at a nail salon, and she manages even if she has more than one client. On top of being very sweet and extremely professional which is always nice. Location is ANNOYING. I mean its in Colesville, (where????) ...which is OUT THERE to say the least, but if you live out that way, like I do, you will be glad theyre there. All the other techs seem to get glowing reviews as well, but You cant lose with Sara for those special requests, so give her a shot. 4/5 stars instead of 5 ONLY because of wait time on weekends v. the drive. :) read more

the owners are horrible, they don't clean their equip and children at the salon? They encourage their employees to rush so they move on to the next customer and make more of a profit. It's clean in some areas but the pedicure area is gross. They have broken down chairs and then don't thoroughly clean their equipment. I personally fear getting a fungal infection with the high incidence of fungal infections, so I would hope you clean the tub and metal equip with strong disinfectant! Please don't just rinse with water, it's gross. Thirdly, owner brought toddler in, she couldn't effectively run because she was chancing child around! It was not relaxing, child crying, being rushed and noticing the ill cleansing of equipment. GROSS Employees are wonderful! So helpful and nice :) if only the owners could change! read more

I went in for a pedicure with two other people on the weekend. Bad idea without an appointment, apparently - they only had a few people working there, and obviously couldn't handle the amount of customers they had. They probably had every single pedicure chair taken (about nine or more), with only three ladies working on pedicures. So they would start on one person, stop, move to another, work on them for a bit, move on to another, etc. Or they would wander off to eat some food or talk on the phone and then come back. It was pretty ridiculous. I sat at the pedicure station for a good twenty minutes or more before someone started on me. Personally I would have preferred for them to have waited to start until they could devote their full attention to me, or I would have appreciated it if they had told me they were too busy to take our group without an appointment. In the end only two people in our party ended up getting what they came in for because it took so long, and the final person just didn't feel like waiting any longer. I would consider going back, but I would not walk in again without an appointment. The pedicure itself was good and a decent price ($25), but the customer service was definitely lacking. Also, this is my bias, but the bible quotes on the door (from "P.Salms") were kind of silly. read more

They are pretty fast. It isn't as relaxing as other salons though, due mostly to the presence of the staff's children most of the time. I have kids and love kids, but I go the salon and pay to have my nails done in order to have some "me time," and I'd rather not listen to my manicurist argue with her daughter while I'm getting my nails done. read more

Didn't tell me to come back in a few hours, didn't ask me if I wanted to make an appointment or later or the next day, nothing. Instead they decided to tell me to get a color and sit in a chair. This place is great. I've been going here for years for all my "nail needs," along with a bunch of other family members who also love this place. The woman I get my pedicures done by is AMAZING, but sorry can't say here name for fear that she will get even more booked up than she is now, but several of the other ladies here are not as great. There are about 3 really good nail techs who consistently do a great job and then there are the rest who just want to get through your pedicure and manicure as fast as possible which really does not bode well with the whole relaxing vibe. Easy fix: find a woman you like and stick with her! Avoid walk-ins, schedule an appointment (even an hour before) with someone you like and there won't be any problem. The lady I have doing my nails always gives me AT LEAST a 20 minute foot massage without charging me any extra. Of course, I tip her well for her time. The SPA pedicures are $25 and the mani/pedi is $35. Secret: on the back of their business card is a rewards program. Get them to initial your card every time you go to work your way up to a free manicure. But remember to ask because they WON'T tell you which is sometimes a bummer if you forget...especially if you are a regular customer like me. The feel of the salon is nice and clean and everything is up to date here. Instead of doing just a regular pedicure, they do a spa pedicure which includes bath salt in the water, exfoliate for your legs, and then an oil and lotion massage. I do not know where the "garage sale" theory came from but they have not been open for more than like 6 years and their pedicure chairs and manicure stations are very nice and not "garage sale-y" at all. There are separate rooms for massage and facials and the hair cutting stations are on the other side of the pedicure stations. The salon could definitely use a couple new shipments of nail polish though. And they really need to stop thinning the polish out with whatever they put into the polish bottles....they will even do it right in front of you! Cheap alert!! This salon is just like any other salon in the area. Mostly Asians workers so not much conversation, though I prefer to read rather than talk, and not the best customer service because of the language barrier. Yes, I have seen techs stop to pick up their phones several times, but it has never really bothered me. I honestly would never go to a nail salon to get waxed (actually I wouldn't do waxing at all anymore), but to each it's own. Tip to the other reviewer - try threading instead if you want a precise brow because waxing always ends up on the thin side. Bottom line: Nice salon for any nail service. Find a particular person you like and stick to her. Call for an appointment to avoid any wait time (which is unusual) and if at all possible bring your own polish so it lasts longer. read more

I definitely would not recommend this nail salon to anyone. Go at your own risk! I went here on Mother's day 2017 and I am mad that I stepped foot in the place. I asked for a silk wrap with nails, but I was persuaded to go without nails which was fine with me. I got to the salon at about 4pm and there was 1 lady waiting to get her nails done and 2 or 3 people getting pedicures. The manager tells me where I can sit and I wait for her to come start my nails. The manager proceeds with my silk wrap which takes until about 6:15/6:30pm. I waited all that time and for my nails to turn out jacked up! She applied a lot of polish to my nails and you could see a bubble on at least 2 nails. Plus there was nail glue stuck under most of my nails that I could not remove. I had dinner plans with my family for Mother's day so I just sat and let my nails dry and left. The manager is in a rush to leave to spend Mothers day with her kids so she rushed through the completion of my nails. I called the salon the next day and spoke with the same manager, who remembered me, and let her know I was not satisfied and my nails were messed up. We set up a date and time for me to go to the salon for her to fix my nails that Tuesday. When I get to the salon on Tuesday the manager removes the polish on my nails, very sloppily, and paints them again, even worse this time around! She makes a half butt attempt to file away the nail glue under my nails and that didn't help. Needless to say, 5 days later I ended up soaking my hands in acetone to get the glue off my nails and fingers. I deeply regret stepping foot in that place! Wow I don't know who wrote that one star review but I totally disagree. Tracy has done my highlights for some time now. I have had my eyebrows done there by a few different people there. And I got a bikini wax there. My mom got her eyebrows done there too and was happy with the result. the staff is very friendly, the furniture is fine - I really didn't notice it, I have no idea what the other reviewer meant by yard sale furniture. Overall I am very happy with King Salon and especially Tracy. I went to several different salons over the years looking for someone who could get my highlights the right shade, and Tracy is the only one who can do it. It isn't absurdly expensive like the salons in downtown Silver Spring either. I really felt the need to recommend this place especially after the other review which is clearly from someone who doesn't go there very often like I do. King's Salon and Spa is great. I go to Tracy for my facials, fill-ins, pedicures, and waxing. I call her before hand to make an appointment because she has many clients, and its so worth it! The facial was sort of painful during the extraction, but my face felt so refreshed after wards and excellent for $65. The fill ins are $15 for regular and $20 for french, and ever since I've been going here, my nails haven't chipped. The pedicures are relaxing and thorough for $25. I used to go to Lynn's Nails in Burtonsville, but they've changed staff and have gotten so crowded and overbooked recently that I started going to King's Salon which had a less hectic and more serene atmosphere. My mom told me about this place and so far so good! read more

Frankly, I'm really surprised to see so many reviews that say the employees are nice. Many of them are not friendly at all. The person who is assigned to you usually gives no eye contact, no greeting, no acknowledgment whatsoever. Just asks for your foot! This was my second time coming. I came for the first time last year and had a good experience. So I figured I would treat myself before my wedding. I typically do my nails at home. I have my own gel machine and get compliments on my nails very often. I called ahead two weeks in advance to make an appointment for three people. Got to the place and only two people were there and one of them was already working with a client. I asked Linda (who did my nails) if others were coming in. She kept saying they were on their way. Linda and Tracy were very nice trying their best to help the three of us. I said something to the owner Jackie about them taking other people before the rest of my party. Her comment was they have appointments. I kindly reminded her that we also had appointments and it wasnt right they were taking walk ins prior to finishing us. She completely brushed me off and was rushing Linda. I think Linda was trying her best but the paint job was not good and I didn't even realize that she actually messed up the pattern and reversed it on the one hand so now the nails don't match. I live near Kings Salon and have used them 2-3 times a year for manicures and pedicures. I would go more often if they properly cleaned instruments and the tubs for pedicures. As other reviewers mention this and the fact that customers can be rushed when the salon has walk-ins. They have a nice open salon with plenty of room, Shame they do not clean properly and have their walk-ins wait for those like me who schedule appointments. I would be go there more often. I hope the owner read this- your pedicure tubs are pretty gross, from the time you opened 6 years ago or so.By the way the employees are very nice and somewhat professional. There is never anyone at the front desk, so you just have to stand around awkwardly and try to get someone's attention. One time, I was ignored for 10 minutes and actually left. I went back today in desperation because I didn't feel like driving out to Columbia to go to my usual place. What a mistake. The woman totally screwed up my eyebrows. I am so pissed off. They look terrible- a 5 year old could have done a better wax job. And in the middle of waxing them, the idiot walked off to answer a phone call. Um, excuse me?! What kind of pathetic service is this? And also, the place's decor is not attractive or relaxing the slightest. Everything looks dated and like random yard sale furniture was dragged in. I'm giving one star because I've been a customer since they opened, 8(?) years ago. Kim has normally been fine for manis and pedis but the waxing was always done ONLY when I was in a time crunch. I had a lip wax done 2 days ago and now have blisters over my lip. I told them yesterday that I would visit my dermatologist tomorrow and if they've caused permanent damage I'll be suing. I had an appointment for a friend and myself. A tecnician started on her pedicure and then left to work on soeone else -all while I sat and waitd. Then someone ben on me and two people on her which meant that she was done long before I was. The technician talked on the phone during my mancure. My gel started peeling in 3 days and my pediure looked good for about 4. The prices here are higher than others in the area and the results were horrible! Went to the salon today to have my eyebrows waxed. When the tech gave me the mirror, I noticed a reddish blue spot under my eyebrow and I asked her what happened. She kept saying she didn't see anything. I replied that the spot was obvious and she told me it was a mole that was already there. I told her it was not a mole and that I know what my face looks like. She continued to argue with me so the manager came over and said it was a bruise and that it would go away in a couple of days. I paid for the waxing and tipped as well (I know, stupid me). Later another small bruise appeared next to the other one. I read on the Internet that this can happen when the skin is not taut when the strip is pulled off and that it would not happen with an experienced tech. read more
