Things were going so well at first. I REALLY wanted to like this place. Top notch customer service and everything... until the next appointment came in. Then it was almost like the nail tech couldn't wait to get me out of there. I asked for one nail to be fixed (there was a chunk of dip missing near the cuticle so there was a weird slope at the bottom of my nail) and I immediately felt a shift. The tech rushed to file the dip of my nail that was messed up with an electric drill and I think she went too deep because I felt a tingling feeling that I get when I've cracked a nail. Because she rushed the nail looks worse than it did before. It was very sloppily "redone" and so now I have dip powder practically glued all over my nail which is a big no no, the nail is still not fixed AND I think she messed up my nail bed. I still tipped but probably won't come back. read more

Can't say enough good things about My! I've been going to her for years and she's the best nail technician in the area. She's skilled, detailed, fast, and reliable. I even moved to DC a couple years ago but I still get my nails done here whenever I come home. I've also been to Van a handful of times and she's just as great! Really convenient to be able to text for appointments and pay with Venmo too. FYI - there are COVID precautions in place. This is the first salon I've been to where I don't have just one tech that I go to for my nails-- every one of them is just as talented, kind, and does an impeccable job. Any time I have an idea of a color I want but can't find, they're able to find it for me. It's such a warm and inviting environment, I not only leave relaxed but also have a great time just being there with the caring staff. I love coming here. I've never been the kind of person who gets their nails done regularly, but my Mom, sisters and I have been coming here for about 13 years. I usually just come in before vacations or special occasions. My mom comes every other week to get her nails done. The facility is clean and newly renovated. This is a family-owned business and the owners, Young and her husband, are very friendly and accommodating. Young greets just about every person who comes in by name. I went in yesterday for my yearly (at least that's what it feels like) mani/pedi/eyebrow wax. My manicure turned out beautifully, my toes have never looked prettier and my eyebrows are well shaped and not too thin. Keep in mind: they are really busy here! Very bad experience. I was a loyal customer for many years while I lived in Olney. However, I was recently in the salon and placed with another nail tech who was sloppy, disrespectful, unprofessional, unskilled, and a terrible listener. It doesn't help that she is busy making fun of customers in Vietnamese the whole time. Since I am a particular client, I know to give specific instructions to avoid confusion, and always leave a nice tip. However, she did not listen at all. Plus, her station was filthy. She sat me at a bench covered in nail clippings and didn't even try to change the towel. I was so proud to have grown my nails out for 4 weeks without breaking them, and she said she would only clip the ends to shape, but proceeded to cut off all the length. I asked for square with no rounded corners, but she did not follow. I checked the shape and they all looked incredibly misshapen and diagonal. I asked her to fix before she painted the French, but instead she wouldn't stop talking crap in English and Vietnamese for the whole salon to hear. She even told me to file my own nails! She "trimmed my cuticles" in less than 90 seconds which ended in a jagged mess leaving half of them still there. She didn't even buff my nails, polish, massage or do anything else that would come with a manicure, but still charged me $15 for a "completed manicure." This was the worst "manicure" I have ever had in over 10 years of religiously getting my nails done every 2 weeks. I was disappointed by the lack of customer service, and a full charge for such an incomplete service. I felt bullied, left in tears and will never be back again for any service. read more

I decided to try this place since my lady at Nails Allure in Rockville was out of town. I got dip powder. 2 weeks later they were lifting badly which is odd because my dip lasts 3 weeks to a month. I decided to get them done again this time going back to Nails Allure. ALL OF MY NAILS HAD FUNGUS ON THEM. She had to literally clip my nails off. and half of them needed to be cut down the sides. My mother also went there the same day and she to had fungus. I have contacted the health department. This is unacceptable. read more

Terrible service. The lady ripped off my acrylic nails instead of soaking them in. I told her many times she was hurting me and she kept going. I was in pain and she didn't care and her answer when I said over and over that she was hurting my nails was "You are too weak that's why". I explained to her I'm under cancer treatment and my nails are thin but she did not care at all. And keep repeating "this is easy, this is easy". NEVER EVER AGAIN. I live in Frederick, MD and I actually drive the distance (and pay a toll!) to come to Nail Works every two weeks for a mani/pedi. The salon is owned by a woman named Young and her husband and there's a real family-owned, friendly feel to the salon. The staff will greet you by name and remember details from your previous visits. Though that isn't a requirement for me, it sure is nice. The salon is clean, bright and well-kept, the equipment is clean, I enjoy the massage pedicure chairs. The salon has a large selection of various brands of polish in many colors, both regular and gel. I've gotten both kinds and have been very satisfied with the results, especially with my Teflon nails that often chip within a day or so. They're also completely accommodating when you bring your own polish. The prices are incredibly reasonable and they've been very kind and understanding when my crazy schedule has required me to reschedule or cancel appointments. I usually make appointments, but I've seen enough walk-ins to see they're just as friendly to people who come in without one. As I said, I come a considerable distance to get my nails done here, and I've noticed that they're in far better general condition since I have, strong, even and well maintained. Obviously, not everyone will want to travel as far as I do, but if you're game, you will not likely regret it. read more

I am not one to treat myself to manicures and pedicures often but I will come back here due to the nice prices, quality of work, customer service and cleanliness. Worse pedicure I have ever had. Nails were not filed evenly. I called to make an appointment with a nail technician that was recommended to me and ended up with some man who did a horrible job filing my nails unevenly. The line on the French manicure is uneven also. The one star is for the massage chair. I'm looking at beautiful photos of some of the manicures and pedicures. I did not get the nail tech I requested that was recommended to me by a friend. I got some dud. One of my big toe nails was filed square on top and the other big toe nail was filed round. Both my toenails were more even before he did a crappy job filing. I feel cheated because I did not get the nail technician I requested when I made the appointment. Three different people worked on my pedicure and each one did a lousy job. I only requested the one nail tech when I made the appointment. The man was the worse out of the three. On close inspection when I got home they totally botched up my pedicure. So that makes me very distrustful of their business practices that they did not give me the nail tech I requested.
