Lost the key to a car and I thought my only option was to pay to have it towed to the dealership and then re-keyed there. The dealership told me that the cost for the re-key would be at the very least $200. After some serendipitous research, I stumbled upon King's Locksmith in Roseville. Gave them a call and spoke with one of their specialists, Danny. Arrangements were made and next thing I know, I have a key to the car and at a FRACTION of what I was going to have to pay for towing and a re-key at the dealership. -Insert G.I. Joe slogan here- read more

Rating them 1 star is painful, since 0 stars is what they deserve. I have never encountered worse customer service, contradictory information, or basic incompetence in any service industry. I lost my Electronic Smart Key for my Miata. The dealership quoted me $500, so I decided to try and find a locksmith that could give me a better deal. Well, the old saying "you get what you pay for" definitely applies here. I had the unfortunate luck to happen upon King's Locksmith on-line, and even worse luck in contacting the owner Danny. I spoke with Danny who said that he could order the Smart Key for $207 and with programming and cutting, the total would be $325. Great, right? No. I should have listened to my instincts, when he said he'd call me back after he ordered the key. I asked him if he wanted my number and he said he had it on his caller id. I explained that the phone I was calling from was an "out calling" phone only and had him write down my correct phone number. He never called back. The next day, I called him to see what happened and he said he called me. He called the wrong number, after I told him not to. The worst part is that the message on number he called states that, AND gives the correct number. Frustrated, but I let that go. He said he had my number now and would make sure to call that number. Danny said he ordered the key and it would take 24 hours to get it. It should be in and I would have my new key by Friday. He never called. I called him again. He then told me that he called me...the wrong number AGAIN. I gritted my teeth, explained again, that he had the incorrect number. He said he would definitely have the key by Monday. Monday came and I didn't hear from him. I called him again and he said that he's been trying to call me (wrong number again) because he had the key and he could come by any time. I asked if he could come by at 5pm because my husband would be home. He said no problem. My husband calls Danny before he leaves work early to set up a definitive time (because he cannot be trusted) and Danny tells him that he did not have the key programmed and it could take 2 hours to get it done. Why would he tell me that he could come by any time that morning, and now he's saying he doesn't even have the code yet? My husband calls back after 2 hours and Danny isn't in the office, but says he would be there in 20 minutes to retrieve the code and would come over. My husband leaves work early to meet him. I then receive a call from Danny stating that the code did not come and he would have it in the morning. Extremely upset, I convey my lack of faith and disappointment in his poor communication with us. Danny assures me that he will call me first thing in the morning whether he gets the code or not. He was to call me at 7:30 am. Surprise, he didn't! I received a call today (Tuesday) from someone else, stating that he was "the guy that was going to fix my key" but they only had an ignition key and requested my VIN# again. I declined and asked him to have Danny call me. He didn't. I finally got a hold of Danny who said that he received the wrong key and the correct key would cost $315 for just the key. Okay, he is supposed to be a locksmith. In order to order a key, you need to provide the VIN #...the whole purpose of providing the VIN# is so that they can verify that it is the correct key for that specific model. Really? Really? I don't think so. Then, after I tell Danny that I am just going to go to the dealer, he said that he understood. But, because of the trouble, he was going to text me the program code that he already paid for out of his own pocket to save me the $40 programming fee. HE DIDN'T...but are we surprised? Do yourself a favor and find another locksmith. We have not had our car for a week because of Danny's incompetence. Poor customer service drips all over this business. I have never been more disappointed and I only hope my review will prevent someone else from experiencing their poor business practices. read more

was quoted $15 dollars for a service call and $120 to rekey my 1999 vw jetta. They showed up and quoted me again, except this time for $400 because my car supposedly needed a laser cut key. When I showed disapproval, he cut $100 off the price like it was nothing, This left an off taste in my mouth and i decided to call another guy. Le Locksmith showed up and charged $85.... a hell of a lot less than $400 and said that I absolutely did not need a laser cut key, but even if i did he wouldnt change his price. I am so glad that i didnt decided to go with kings! I'm not sure if the person who was sent on the service call was part crook part idiot or one or the other, but i wouldnt waste my time trying to figure it out. Just call another company. PS they say that they accept credit cards but this guy wanted cash... i dont know what the deal with that was, but like i said, i think that he was kind of a crook. It seems like they are all independent contractors so maybe i just drew the short straw, but Kings still endorsed this guy and i found his dishonesty to be incredibly unprofessional. read more

try to avoid this company by any means. They quoted $35 to unlock my master bedroom when I called for service. It took them less than 2 mins to unlock the door & they demanded for $80 for the service claiming the lock is a smart lock which is actually a standard lock we got from Home Depot. read more

If you read anything on this review, read this; THE PRICES ON THEIR WEBSITE ARE NOT ACCURATE! I had pretty much the same experience that other negative reviews had about this company. I wish I had taken the time to read the reviews, but being locked out of my car I was in a rush to get my keys. The one star is for their speed, Fortunately I haven't had to deal with many locksmiths so I don't know the average time for their services, but these guys showed up within 15 minutes and had the car opened within another 15 mins. Now for the bad, I chose this company because their prices were listed right on their page and they were local. The price on their page for 'Car Lockouts' showed $35.99. Once the tech got onto site he looked at the car, a couple year old chevy pickup truck with manual locks. He told me he couldn't use the slim jim so the cost would be $120! That's more then 3 times what the website quoted! Here is where I think they are really taking advantage of people, obviously if you are in a situation where you are locked out of a house or car you want to remedy the problem as soon as possible. Kings Locksmith 'baits' you by being "transparent" with pricing on their website. Then once they are on site they make up some reason why the fix is more complicated then any other fix and jack the price way up. read more

Very appreciative for this gentleman's mobile services on a Sunday!.... Then again the next day needing emergency for my ignition key that broke in half.. This was a very hot day and he arrived promptly, very grateful. I don't remember this workers name that saved me two times, but he was nice, funny. I will definitely refer him, again and again Thanks again read more

After locking the keys in the car, I called 2 locksmiths, who quoted $65 and $60 to do a lockout service on the car. I should have gone with one of them, but happened to see the King's website, on which they list lockout service at $34.99. I called, and someone was out within 25 minutes. When the technician arrived, he informed me that it would be $100 to do the lockout service. WHAT??!! He said that newer cars are more, etc., etc. He was very nice and did perform the service (we didn't have time to wait for another service to come out), but I feel I was scammed by not being told BEFORE the technician was sent out that the cost might be nearly 3x what was listed on the website. I wish I had read the reviews before calling King's, because it looks as if I'm not the only one what has had this experience with this company. read more

Do not use this company. Their license has expired and when we had an issue with them the refused to take any responsibility.

I called for a locksmith to pick 1 lock on my front door because I had left my key at work. When I called, the guy on the phone told me that it would be $19 to come out and $35 for labor, but labor rates could go up depending on how long it takes the guy to unlock the door. The guy shows up on time and he was very nice. He picks my lock in 3 minutes and says, "since that was a Schwab, it's actually $75 instead of $35. This was after he told me that I had a nice house by the way. I called the guy that sent him out and he immediately went on the defense about the labor rates. After I explained to him that it took 3 minutes, he didn't know what to say. I would highly recommend smashing your window out before you waste money on these guys!!! read more

DON'T HIRE THIS COMPANY!!! The work they do is horrible most of my locks broke within a week or so.

I had an old honda civic key that needed a backup. Went to True Value, Home Depot (corporate America...shame on me), another inventory store and they couldn't get it done. Found King's Locksmith Inc and he took care of me in matter of minutes. Danny is a great guy and does quality work. I would recommend anyone for his business at home or mobile for any big project or even a small project like getting an old honda civic key replacement. Thanks Danny again! read more

Called on a Sunday when we had a minor freak out moment because we lost a key to our locked shed. About an hour later, it was taken care of and the prices were soooo reasonable! Thank you Kings Locksmith for your fast and professional service! read more

This guy is great. came out and fix my ignition switch and it did extra work for me for no extra charge. Awesome work thanks Kings locksmith

Awesome service!! Thanks Dinor!! came out right after I called him made me a new key and reprogrammed my car quick and affordable at half the cost of the dealership. Quick and great prices! read more

Thanks for the key! You were reliable and came within 20-30 minutes from the time I called!

I locked my keys in my car and called Kings because they were the closest (according to google). Was greeted with an abrupt "hello" so I had to verify if I had the right place. I told him what happened and he said he can get a tech out and they would be there in 20mins. He quoted me $20 for the drive and the actual job would depend on the technician. So I said okay and waited for about 30mins before getting a call from the technician. He asked me where exactly I was so I told him. Asked him about the cost and he said $20 for the drive and the actual job starts at $40. I said okay and asked how soon he was going to be there. He said 20mins!!! So I waited for them to get there and after they looked at my car, they told me that it would be $130 to open it up!! Mind you they used an airbag thing to pry the door open and a hook to unlock it. Before I was done filling out my name and address on the invoice, he was already done. I didn't have time to argue because I was already an hour late for work at this point. I really wish they would have let me know it was actually going to take an hour to get there and the quoting of fees is ridiculous. You would think that they would have a better idea of how much it costs since they ask for your car make and model over the phone. read more

We are new to town and found King's Locksmith on Google. Arranged to have Danny come and rekey our new home for us; he gave us a price over the phone, and on the day he came to do the work (on time! So nice!) he was quick, courteous and neat. We had an issue with a lock he had rekeyed about 6 weeks later; he came right over and fixed it (said a pin had dropped, extremely unusual), didn't charge for it. Super nice guy, VERY reasonable prices to rekey our house locks without a huge charge for the service call. Happy to recommend! read more

I was having a lame day and I topped it off by locking my keys in my car...for the second time since Friday...deciding to try a different locksmith (the last one took almost two hours to show up) I stumbled upon kings locksmith and am so happy I did!! Danny was there in 15 minutes and took 5 minutes if that to retrieve my keys! Great price and amazing service! Definitely made my week and has won me over as a long term customer! read more

Cut keys for my older motorcycle. Was available on weekend and keys had no issues after they were made.

So, typical story- someone moves out- change the dang locks! I researched 5 locksmiths in Roseville and decided to go with King's. I called Danny and he came out the next day- during the time I wanted, not a 4 hour window. He was professional, helpful and a really good guy! The stubborn fits, he didn't just make them work, he made them fit perfectly as if he was installing in his own home. I would recommend him to my family and friends....I guess I just did!!! Use him- he's one hard working guy. Thanks Danny read more

"$19 Service fee, Labor fee starting at $35, rekey fee starts at $19.99 per lock". That's what they quoted us on the phone. The locksmith came out to our house, didn't mention anything different, finished all 6 locks in less than an hour then handed us this bill: "$19 Service fee, $175 labor fee, $35 rekey fee per lock" which totaled $404 instead of the $174 originally quoted. When trying to dispute the increase in fees he just kept emphasizing the words "STARTING AT". We were home the whole time he did his work but he never once mentioned that these locks were any more difficult or would be more expensive (clearly they weren't that difficult because he finished them rather quickly). Repeated calls (at least half a dozen) to the manager and never received a call back. Be very careful! read more

I am not from the area and don't know anybody around there. I was covering for my cousin while he was traveling to china for work. He shipped me keys for his local business and car keys and that was that. On my way to his office, I somehow managed to lock all the keys in the car- fancy automatic car lock??? After calling a bunch of local places, who would make me wait an hour or so, a guy named Danny came within 20 minutes and helped me out. Within minutes I had keys in my hand! He was fair with pricing and since my time was sensitive and he showed up when I needed someone, I give this business 5 stars! read more

Danny is such a nice guy but he is so full of it. He tells you that if you write him a good review online, he will unlock again for free. Well I called him a second time and he totally denied his offer and said he was hooking me up by unlocking my door but I still had to pay full price. All I ask is that if you tell someone you will do something, you do it! Very disappointed, went with another company. read more

DO NOT USE COMPANY FOR YOUR NEEDS. ...Keep Google searching. This is NOT a DECENT company to do business with. First and foremost, they will admittedly DENY any fault of their own. Secondly, they came out over an hour and a half later than I was told they would be. Now, numbers. ...I called. Was told $35.00 PERIOD. $35.00 This is for the service of coming and unlocking my 9 year old son's bedroom door. Unfamiliar with locksmith costs, I decided to call around. Getting much higher quotes from other businesses, I called Kings back. Asked how long it would take to get to the house. They said 30-40 minutes because they just started a job. I said that I would see if I could get the lock open any other way, and if I COULD, I would call him back so he doesn't come out. I confirmed the $35.00 quote, and he said that was the minimum for labor. The service call itself is a $20.00 fee. I was surprised about this additional fee when I had originally been told $35.00 (Which they now deny saying that is all they said). This was a very simple lock pick, and I thought that there would be no way it would be anything above the initial $35.00 labor fee and $20.00 service call. About an hour later, I called to see where they were. "On his way". The service guy called and confirmed that he was on his way, and was just finishing with his previous client in the same city I am located in. 1/2 an hour later, STILL not here, I called back & said if he's not here in 10 minutes, I'll be calling someone else. (I SO wish I had!) A few minutes later, a tall, friendly red haired gentleman with a thick accent shows up. He comes in, says he had been waiting for me to call back, which is why he was so late (???), is shown the lock, and LITERALLY 30 seconds later he has the lock picked and is packing up. He tells me he's going to give me a great deal today. I assumed for the long wait we had, and thought he was really excelling at his customer service. Pleased with the unlocked door, and a "really good deal" ahead of me, I walk him to my table, credit card in hand, and he shows me the invoice for his previous client, whose lock he had to drill, and how much more they had to end up spending than we do. With that, he tells me the total of $90.00. WHAT?!? My GOOD DEAL is $55.00 MORE then the very first number I received!?! WHAT? No. This is NOT happening. THEN he begins arguing with me, telling me what he (thinks he) told me over the phone, and that he has a recording of our conversation to prove it. I'm absolutely POSITIVE this is NOT the conversation we had and tell him we will pay him when I hear the recording. He said that he couldn't access it at this time. He also said he said $90.00 MAX somewhere in our conversation. Which I do not recall, but even if he DID say that, this was NOT $90.00 worth of labor that he performed. My husband got involved, and, in shock over the whole scam, told him that this is NOT how this will work in our house. The man said that he would then leave our house. He walked out the front door, but stood on the threshold, so the door could not be closed. He was on the phone calling his boss, and would not get out of our door frame. My husband yelled for him to get out, and he removed one foot, but kept the other foot planted in the doorway. With that, my husband gave him a hearty shove off the door frame, and I slammed the door shut and locked it. Moments later he knocked on the door, obviously aggravated and accused my husband of trying to kick him in the face! !?! UNBELIEVABLE!!! We closed the door immediately and called the company to complain. Only it was the SAME service guy who answered the phone! A few minutes later, we get a call from Citrus Heights. This is "Danny", apparently the boss? Who wants my take on the situation as to why my "son" would treat his service man this way. (His service man who was dropping the "F" bomb in front of my 9 year old son, repeatedly out of anger in the midst of our interaction) I clarified that it was not my SON, but my husband, to which Danny, with great annoyance dismissed and demanded explanation. Then before I could even speak, he rambled off his account of the situation with great frustration. Asking if it was okay for ME to speak now, I very calmly began my side of the story, which he IMMEDIATELY began to deny. (The price quotes, etc.) He was very agitated, and argumentative, and I knew it would be a loosing battle to try to win the argument with him. We will send a check for the $55.00, the base amount for a base service. Though they should give us the entire service for FREE with all they have put us through today. Please, no matter your emergency... choose the next locksmith on your list!! read more

don't ever get shit from this company!!!! i called because my friend locked herself out the car. i called this company and asked is there a charge for you to open the door because my friend locked herself in and the guy who answered the phone told me no there is no charge but if she needs a new key then it would $179. i said that's perfect and sent the address to where she is located and told my friend everything. but my friend informs me that once the guy gets here the whole conversation changed. the price of the key in now the price to open the fucking car and the new key is now $300. wtf!!!!! where tf did this price come from and why not call and inform people that you fucked up big time in telling me pricing because i would've told y'all greedy asses don't fucking come. but instead yall chose to be sneak and do some fuck shit, even with all the other fucked up shit going on!!!! reporting to the better business bureau!!!! don't give them your business they'll tell you one thing on the phone and something hugely different in your face!!! read more

Locked the keys in the car while at the gas station, and seeing the 34.99 price for car lockout on their website decided to give it a try. They were fast and the tech was really nice, but the total came out to $100 to have the door opened. He explained it was a $20 service fee plus $85 to open the car door. When I inquired why this isn't what the website said he said it's because "new" cars are more expensive. My car is a 2002 Nissan, and I definitely would not consider it new. I asked if I could back out and he said I'd still have to pay him the $20 fee for coming out. I now notice that other reviewers have said the same thing about the surprise increase in price, and hopefully they change their website and are more honest with future customers on the phone, as nothing was said about the service fee or about the possibility of a higher cost when I called. While they were nice and pretty fast I still don't recommend them for a car lockout at that price. read more
