Wish I could give more than 5 stars to Val R. at 1 hour locksmith. He is extremely knowledgeable, professional, respectful and a good human with a great work ethic. I was lucky enough to get Val to my home as the 2nd person I'd had out to replace 2 standard deadbolts to electronic ones and replace the bottom handsets (one which required drilling into the door) with items I'd already purchased. Unfortunately, one electronic unit I purchased was not functional and Val went to the hardware store for me after his next job to purchase a new unit to install. He returned and explained everything about how each unit is programmed and how I change/delete codes and he even turned away when I entered my master code. He didn't have to go to the hardware store for me, he could have rescheduled after I reordered a new unit. Great customer care. As an aside (don't want to say more than they were dispatched from a Yelp number). The first company was dispatched to me and the young man made me uncomfortable by having to call his boss about how to replace the electronics, not wanting to add the new strike plate which was larger and saying he wasn't comfortable drilling into the door for the handset (I can do it for you without drilling ). Upon entering my home, he walked straight to my slider to check out my backyard, and was aggressive about saying "he could do right now" (x3!) after he quoted me a ridiculous price and I said I'd think about it. I locked myself out of my own office into the waiting room with my keys/cell phone left in my office. No one else was at the office and I needed help! Called around to local locksmiths for pricing of cutting a simple padlock off my gate and hopefully just rekeying one of my security screen doors that I had lost both keys for. Most places were very high plus they wanted a picture sent of the screen door hardware. I am not capable of doing that. But when I told Val that I could not he did not hesitate to suggest that he could come and at least look at it. I thought that was super. I also was told to cut the simple lock off at other places would be a big charge. I told Val I would think about it and then call him back which I did the next day and had him come do the work for me. He did not charge me for the padlock cutting and he only had to rekey my screen door but he also took it apart and oiled etc. and he made me 3 keys that would work on my front door and both screen doors so that I would not have 2 different sets of keys. Plus I mentioned a problem with my front door not even locking which is not safe and he did check that out and fixed it so that it at least locks now and he gave me a price which sounds fair to me to come back and fix it properly.
