Rib tips and mac n cheese
Jaquay R.

I hit the jackpot with this bbq food truck!!! If you want tender, well seasoned smoked bbq and the most delicious sides and you haven't hit up Kingpin BBQ you are missing out Seeing the posts and videos I had to check this place out. I was not disappointed Everything is as good as it looks if not better. I didn't even need to put the bbq sauce on any of the meat because the rub seasoning is Exceptional - Mac 'n' Cheese / Collard Greens/ Ribs / Rib Tips / Smoked Chicken / Pulled Pork / Hot Link Check out this video review... https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJx42cVpbyo/?igsh=MWNyNnU5bDRkeTlqNg==

Let me first start off by saying, I am a very impatient person when it comes to waiting in line especially in the heat. I do believe there is possibly a faster process for them when it comes to ordering. But I do understand they don't want the kitchen to be behind. I pulled up at 6:57 and there was a line maybe about eight people that were in front of me in the line but I didn't think I was going to be waiting an hour before I even ordered my food. The price is actually a decent price. The young lady that takes your order is very sweet and she was sure to greet everybody with a smile. The food I have absolutely no complaints at all. It was worth the wait. I give them a 10 out of 10. I will definitely be back in the future for more.

We waited in line at the food truck for over an hour and holy sh*t was it worth the wait. This has to be the best barbecue in Arizona. The meat is flavorful and smokey...literally fall off the bone ribs. Cannot wait to eat again 9.4/10

Shrimp Mac and Cheese Plate with Hot link and Texas Toast
Taylor H.

My husband and I tried Kingpin after following them on IG for a few months and their food did NOT disappoint. I ordered their Jumbo Shrimp Mac & Cheese with a hot link and my husband order their beef tips w/waffle fries and turkey leg w/ Cajun shrimp and sauce. It was delicious! The turkey leg was literally fall off the bone, delicious and flavorful. I didn't even get a chance to take a picture of it. The Mac and cheese was a nice consistency and came with so many shrimp. I do wish they had an option to add the Cajun sauce/shrimp that came on the turkey leg to the Mac and cheese because they were also delicious! I personally like spice and heat with my BBQ so I would've liked a little more kick to my hot link. But the flavors are incredible, the meat was nicely cooked and a little red hots did the trick nicely. For those who prefer less heat, their bbq sauce is a traditional sweet/tangy and also very good. The amount of food given is exceptionally generous for the price. We ended up needing to take the beef tips and some of the turkey leg home. They saved well even the next day and we will definitely be returning. Some advice for first timers: come expecting a line and to wait a bit. Good food takes time so get there early! We came right at open and they had a line of 10-15 people already waiting. Given the limited space and manpower they do pause at times to catch up on orders. But that being said, the wait is well worth it!

Plate with greens, ribs, chicken, hot link, and toast
Adrienne C.

My cousin hyped this place up so much so I was excited to try it. She brought me a plate that had ribs, chicken, a hot link, greens, and garlic toast. The garlic toast was inedible because it was extremely soggy from being packaged with the rest of the food. The greens lacked flavor in my opinion. The chicken was decent and the hot link was overcooked. The ribs were great. The bbq sauce itself, not so much. It was missing something. So if I ever come across this place myself, I'd probably only get the ribs and maybe try the Mac and cheese since it always looks good on IG. I have no opinion about service or ambiance since I didn't experience it.

3 bone plate delicious

Best BBQ I have ever eaten! So tender and very delicious! No wonder they sell out because everyone wants it. Everything on their menu is delicious and reasonably price. Excellent service and customer service! All sides are equally delicious . Off the hook BBQ.

Limited menu. Everything X'd off. Despite advertising on all their socials and even posting full menu on their website
Dong T.

So, on their FB and IG they advertised that they'd be available at the Hilton hotel on 16th at and Northern this past Monday. Even on their website, they posted the menu for that day. A BUNCH of disappointed people arrive only to discover that they were hired for a private event. So what the hell? Now, they did offer to serve non event goers but to their very limited menu. No ribs, no mac, no collard greens, just a bare bones menu. Whatever, ordered something just so that I dont go home empty and hangry. Opted for their 2 meat plate (pulled pork, hot link, waffle fries as the side, and a slice of TX toast). Good? Sure. Worth all this hype all these damn AZ food influencers be giving them? I don't think so. Hesitant to even hunt them down again even if their ribs are available. Just overall, an underwhelming and annoying experience. Why publicly advertise your location somewhere and post a false menu? Oh FFS.

They are busy

I'm feeling a little mixed on this review. It's a little expense 18-28 per person, but it's 2 days' worth of food. The food is good but pretty standard for a BBQ. Service was ok, but not excellent. Here is my issue, yes choose to stand in a long line, but when I ordered I was told 10-12 min; it was over 22. If I could have gotten my money back I would have left. They take phone orders and app orders and they go in before waiting in line orders. Idk exactly what their system is but when you have 30 min don't go.

Parking 5/5 We arrived at 6 pm and took one of the last spots in the back. Service 10/5 Celebration arrangements were done by my neighbors amazing daughter who ordered the Full Monte sampler which included generous portions of protein, all the sides and drinks. Seating 15/5 Anyone familiar with Caldwells business model knows this is a wait inline to order, move over to the cashier then search for seatings which can be challenging at best during peak lunch & dinner hours. In our case the Caldwell's manager Torrin personally re-arranged tables so our group could be seated together and included one table for all the food and gifts. Food 10/5 This rating recognizes Caldwell's BBQ is wildly popular. Pushing it higher for this experience was how the food was delivered to the party. Once our party of 30 were seated together, four + large variety platters of protein, sides and fountain beverages were placed on a serving table family style. Atmosphere 5/5 The back patio was our celebration location and it was filling up quickly and we gathered for the celebration. During the course of our visit we enjoyed the transition from daylight to evening where the atmosphere of the back patio began to soften with a wonderful span of string patio lighting for outdoor ambiance. This quickly became an extremely fun place to move table to table visiting with everyone. My neighbors family (11 siblings, 9 stateside) are Doctors and Nurses who served in the VA Hospitals throughout the US and their families who have treated me as family over the years. What a beautiful family and culture. Caldwell's staff To Torrin. Malissa our birthday Girl's daughter made all the arrangements and surprise us with a banquet; and you delivered big time for this celebration!m. From getting our food out to arranging tables to keep our large group together is truly amazing! The entire Caldwell team has our sincere gratitude. Food and venue were off the carts to handle a Luau style feast like this. Clearly the Caldwell's team went above and beyond for us! It had been months since I drove past this PV location and told my husband I wanted us to go. So I suggested it when he referenced a BBQ takeout meal. We placed our order, I drove over (12 min drive) and walked through the to-go door. They immediately had the order ready. The host showed me each item, even opening up each to-go box to let me see that the order was correct. I've never seen that level of service before! He asked me which sauces I wanted and I asked for a variety. I told him I like sweet and tangy and he gave me a Texas one that I ended up loving. Great experience topped off by my husband also thoroughly enjoying his meal. He can be picky with BBQ since he's from the KC area and his dad used to own a BBQ restaurant. He was raving about Mission and we already are talking about when we can head back!

We lived to the south in Vernon, Texas where I learned the culinary tradition of Moon Pies and RC Cola, or Dr. Pepper. I also had my first meal of Texas Bar B Que. That set my taste for BBQ Brisket and BBQ beans; sweet, smoky and tender. I've since dined in Lufkin, Nacogdoches, Abilene and Merkel. We hit Mr. B's fabulously delicious BBQ near Harper's Ferry, VA. Another year we went on to BBQ in St Louis; Jonesboro, Arkansas; and Memphis, Tennesee. Locally, Bobby Q, My Mother's, TexAz and others I cannot remember. The brisket was further flavored choosing one or more of the three sauces: sweet hot ish BBQ, sweet mustard sauce and one more flavor. My top taste of the meal was prickly pear lemonade. Going back for a refill I found 2/3 lemonade and 1/3 prickly pear made my perfect BBQ beverage. The peppery beans with another serving of pulled meat mixed in improved on my palate with sweet sauce added. The mustard sauce was recommended for our sandwich. It was a good addition. Will the family return here to dine? I'll write another review when we come back.
