He also installed a NEST Thermostat (that I'd purchased quite a while ago but had never installed). I ended up signing up for their fall and spring tune-ups to keep our system in working order and I think it's very reasonably priced for the peace of mind it provides that our system is being kept in tip-top shape. However - based on trusted information from another out of town HVAC repair person who was in my condo the week prior to my AC going down, it seems clear to me that I was overcharged and taken advantage of! The problem was a bad capacitor. I was overcharged for the part,... then charged an additional $280.00 to add refrigerant that the technician "questionably" claimed I needed.
