I got lunch from Kingdom Crust and had the garlic knots, a chicken parm sub, and a piece of cake for takeout. The staff were friendly and polite. My sub was exactly what I expected and i enjoyed the second half for dinner. The garlic knots might have been some of the best Ive ever eaten, a must try! This used to be a decent place to stop in and get a sandwich or a slice for lunch. However, in recent months since they became under new ownership, the quality as well as the service has become virtually nonexistent. The pizza is usually undercooked and overly doughy and I have had numerous incidents where they have forgotten something on my order or messed it up entirely. This most recent time being the third I called to simply voice my frustrations that it continues to happen. I was told that if I have a problem I need to take it up with the owner and that "this conversation is not helping" and was then hung up on. Our experience was so bad that I have no idea where to start. We ordered 2 grown up grilled cheeses one sandwich with bacon and steak and another regular to be delivered to our hotel room. First, it was delivered to a wrong room number and after 1h30m calling the restaurant multiple times to figure it out, to either try to contact the driver to see where the food was, get another other or simply our money back, the woman who I was talking to decided to hang up on me extremely UNPROFESSIONAL and RUDE. When we finally got our food, there was no meat and the bread was burnt. What else can I say? Do they know anything about costumer service and hospitality? It doesn't seem so. Traveling from out of town and decided to give this place a try. We ordered a few of the gourmet pizzas and an onion blossom. The box to one of the pizzas was falling out through the bottom due to there being too much water on the pizza. Likely from the tomato. Great start. The other two sounded great in theory. Good flavor ideas. There was absolutely no flavor though. Very bland. The crust on the other hand WAS very good... they should scrap the whole menu and sell bread. Let's talk about the onion blossom, I mean train wreck. It wasn't cut right, it was undercooked, and had no sauce. No sauce was even offered. When you can hold an onion petal, and the entire onion blossom lifts up with it, there's a problem. The whole underneath was still full of batter. Complete junk and totally inedible. How anyone can put that in a take out container and think it's ok to serve that to someone is beyond me. Definitely will not be back. Very aggravated. read more

Do not waste your time or money here. I think that the business has changed hands and the lack of quality and consistency shows. For the last few years we've ordered pizza from Kingdom Crust and it's been great. We've had no problem spending more for specialty pizza with quality ingredients but those days are now over. On more than one occasion we've had orders "lost" and not ready after we've been told the wait will be between 15-30 mins. When we've arrived those times the parking lot and dining area were empty and staff were just standing around behind the counter. Paying $27+ for a sloppily prepared and over cooked pizza is not worth it. It's an absolute bummer. In St. J we have few restaurants if anything we have too many of the same options but Kingdom Crust was the go to when it came to pizza..not anymore. read more

Dinner with two families (3 adults, 3 teenage boys) from NYC. The adults were delighted with a pesto, artichoke heart, sun dried tomato, hold the chicken pizza and big, fresh salads. The teenage boys were delighted with the self-serve drinks and the plain cheese pizza. Attendees of all ages enjoyed sitting outside, next to the train tracks, along with the (totally Vermont?) laid-back and friendly nature of the place. The pictures on the chalkboard of all the different pizza sizes were really helpful; otherwise, the place was a little confusing: not enough parmesan/crushed red pepper/other various pizza condiments to go around, clear your own table but put your dirty plates where, that kind of thing -- still it was kinda in keeping with that laid back Vermont vibe. Overpriced with poor customer service. Placed an order online, got there when the website said to go in for pickup. The wings I had ordered literally had almost twice as much chicken in the one container verses the second, and I had to wait an extra ten minutes for the kingdom ranch sandwich. When I got home I realized the sandwich was missing a good portion of the ingredients; bacon, lettuce, tomato. The "fresh" oven roasted chicken was extremely dry, there was barely any broccoli or onions on it- it was a lot of money for some chibatta bread with ranch. When I called them, the guy who answered the phone said he could give me a credit for the sandwich but when I asked how I could use it considering all I gave him for information was my name - all he said was I could use it on anything. Stopped by Kingdom Crust recently as we had been told they have a gluten free crust. So we ordered dinner and were just blown away. Had the pub fries for an appetizer -- nice fresh cut and deliciousness! My wife had a Gluten free pizza which was great her only complaint was that the bacon on her pizza was not as crisp as she'd have liked. I had a stromboli and it was the best I've ever eaten. I mean it. Thin on the crust and heavy on the pepperoni. Would like to see them get a raw pizza dough to be able to have the stromboli and fried dough knots (which are these little nuggets of powered sugar goodness) for patrons who have a Gluten issue. Everyone always tells me about how great this place is. But I unfortunately have to disagree. I ordered wings, Plain with buffalo and blue cheese on the side. And a cheese quesadilla with sour cream and salsa on the side. Simple order. The delivery guy was great. Polite and professional. The food was a whole different story. The quesadilla was soggy and poorly made. Hot tortilla in a cardboard box... okay, I get that it'll naturally get soggy. But then there was the wings. Literally the WORST wings I've ever seen. There is no way someone took them out of the fryer and said, "yep, those look good to serve!" The meat was pulled up off the bones, the chicken was way over cooked, skin was burnt and crisp, it was awful. I've never called a place and complained, I usually just deal with it. But these weren't even edible. I called them and was offered a refund. I was hungry so I opted to have the wings replaced. Same delivery guy. Same great service. He was awesome. It's after 9pm and the rolls and pizza we ordered at 6:55 have arrived on the second try. Our first order came at 8:30, brought to us by another hotel guest. He was outside when the delivery driver pulled up, and though it wasn't his order (which came later) he was asked by the driver to bring up our food - ~ which was a cold pizza, garlic knots which had been dropped (just ask the gritty dirt on them) and a melted sauce container - our rolls had sauce AND melted plastic. No,plates or napkins as requested (the other guest said he had no plates or naps either). Shift manager who took my call said he would refund the order but would not remake it unless I changed my tone. I begged and we got new food - still with a melted sauce container which meant plastic stuck on the rolls. And still no napkins so apologies to the hotel towels. Nice second driver apologized and said they were very busy tonight, which seemed belied by the hotel front desk identifying the driver who routinely leaves the food at the front desk and leaves Before the customer is called, so any problems can't be addressed . In the midst of a pandemic, having food for a customer handed over to a stranger is just creepy. The second order of garlic knots were raw in the center, making it even weirder that the sauce container was hot enough to melt and get plastic on them. The whole experience was a mess. Stumbled across Kingdom Crust during our stay for the NEMBAFest and WOW!! This is the furthest destination from your average house of pizza. Walking in the door we were greeted with warm local hospitality. Beer selection is off the hook and the food.....absolutely delicious! Apps were delicious, salad was super fresh and the pizza was perfect, from the handmade crispy crust to the local ingredients was sublime. I would like to start off by saying as someone who has worked in food service before that I understand that there are some people who have ridiculously high standards for restaurants in small towns, and that people throw around threats of "bad yelp reviews" to try to get more for their dollar because they are cheap. I would absolutely not give a bad review unless I felt it was necessary. I would also like to state that this is probably the third time that they had messed up an order when I articulated in the past about changes in certain orders and they just cooked it to their default recipe. This time I was very specific that I did not want bacon on a pizza because I was ordering for a vegetarian in my family, and I wanted their "maple knots" to be made without butter. I had my girlfriend who sat next me to when I was on the phone making the order as a witness to this. When I arrived at kingdom crust to pick up my order which I already had to wait 40 minutes for (which was no problem at all), they showed me the maple knots that clearly had been cooked by their default recipe with butter. I told them that the order was wrong and they told me that it would take about 10 minutes to make from scratch, so I went home which was a short drive away to wait. I figured while I was waiting for the maple knots that we could at least start eating our dinner but upon opening the pizza box for my vegetarian daughter I discovered that they had also made this pizza with their default recipe which included bacon which I specifically told them that I did not want that on this pizza. So I figured I was waiting anyway so I called their phone which I know for a fact is right at their front desk which is about 5 to 10 feet away from any given kitchen staff member which they didn't pick up, so I had to go down there and wait in a short line to tell them they messed something else up. They did offer to let me keep the messed up pizza but honestly I had already ordered my own thing and the pizza for my kid even with bacon on it was not appealing to me in the least so I turned that down. That was their only offer to "make it right" which I feel restaurants are obligated to at least offer when they are at fault. After about 10 minutes of standing around in the front lobby, a tall young man working in the kitchen gave me the correct pizza and apologized. You sir are awesome, however, the young blond 5'2" woman did not apologize once, and I understand that it had gotten busier but I felt that I was blown off as if I was the one at fault for making ridiculous orders when its their job in food service to provide food for people who need special diet accommodations. She acted confused as if I'm some idiot who orders maple knots without butter or refuses to eat bacon for no reason, when I was ordering it for other people who have special diets that they adhere to at all times. The worst part about this is that I love their food when they cook it right, and that I always prefer small businesses to large chains like domino's and pizza hut (also in saint johnsbury, VT.) I hope this review is read by the owner/manager of that place, because it has potential to be great yet it is shadowed by terrible service that makes me mad every time I order from there. how hard is it to write down changes to regular menu items when I speak clearly and slowly to try to prevent things like this from happening? Stay FAR AWAY!!! I've been local before this place. It started as Rumontos, and haven't ordered from there in over 3 years. They changed the name and menu. I called tonight, first question I asked was, is this the same owners?? Yes it was.....OK,.....I'll try.... Placed my order. The food was excellent, we had jalapeño poppers, a small veggie lover pizza and a small buffalo chicken pizza. Everything was fresh and tasted great. The beer selection was small but good, had something for every taste including a citizen cider on tap. Great place to take a family with adequate seating room and menu items suitable for children. Only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is due to the minimal atmosphere (fairly new business) and a small (but pleasant) wait staff making wait times a little long. The service was slow and the waitstaff was unprepared to answer questions about the menu. When our food finally arrived 30 minutes after we had arrived, not one but both of our appetizers were not what we ordered. When we complained we were told that we were wrong.
