    Channa Masala
    Steve A.

Checked out another of these bare bones places on Devon Avenue. It turned out to be a lot better than expected. King Sweets has an intriguing name. Basically that's what brings people in. This is a counter service restaurant that has lots of sweets of course as well as a menu of hot food such as Channa Masala. Basic looking place and we didn't expect much from it. Instead it made up for the lack of atmosphere with some pretty decent food at least. The main thing here seems to be the sweets though. All kinds of good looking treats on display. Those wanting to eat something more substantial can also get a hot plate. It's about $8 for a meal. The Channa Masala is one of these. Good stuff if not great. This item was oddly served on a divided tray, even though it was all the same thing. Even though the restaurant as well as the food presentation is kind of poor, it doesn't mean everything is. If you're fine with getting pretty okay food and some great sweets, this would be the place. There's tons of good stuff like halwa, and the hot menu has some things for both meat eaters and vegetarians.

2/4/2023 Came in for breakfast. Batoora breakfast was good as was paratha and omelette however we were disappointed in the puri halwa. Puri's were heavy and very oily. Halwa was dry and had no flavor of cardamom or anything else. 1/21/2023 It's sweet samosa season again and King Sweets has them! No one else on Devon has these.

Only negative is the mood towards American women at times....... Or maybe it's in my head. Nonetheless they continue to get my exclusive to go business!!!!!!

I usually go to karachi restaurant but they were closed at 4:30 pm to I said lets try this and to my surprise they just made a new customer. The owner at the counter was super respectful and patient. I order dahi bhalay and paratha roll with chai and everything was top notch. Very clean and fresh food. I would definitely go back and enjoy more of their food. The only suggestion is that the food was super spicy and if they can start asking upon order the level of spice the customer would want than it will add something extra for customer's satisfaction.

We have been King Sweet for lunch and breakfast several times and their food was good most of the time. Today we went to King Sweet for Halwa Puri breakfast and we were delighted that we picked this place the halwa puri was delicious tasty chana and aalo with achar and halwa plus yogurt, We also ordered omelet and paratha crunchy big paratha and very nice omelet. King sweet's food was better than ever, price for H and P was $7.49, big paratha and omelet cost $7.99. Sunday morning was very busy and it took more than 1/2 an hour but it worth. Oh I forgot to tell the customer service was excellent with happy face I10/15/2022 I went again this weekend wow the food is more delicious anything everything.

The place has nice spacious seating inside, with really friendly staff. I really like the different snacks and desserts they have, all really high quality and for a great price. Especially the barfi. Also, I would recommend the kashmiri chai, It's cool because it's pink lol.

Keema ask them to make it spicy ! Yummy

I arrive within twenty-one minutes buying only a quarter's worth of time at the parking meter thinking surely that would be enough time to grab my carryout order? Guys, why was I waiting an additional twenty minutes for food when nobody was in this restaurant? I hate when a restaurant draaaaaaags without giving any reasons. Thali shops have literal fast food. Not in the American sense but the foods are as simple as crepes (dosa) served with chutney. The other items would need more time. Curries, biriyani, etc Ordered an onion dosa and a masala dosa. Texture was different from what I'm accustomed to eating. But I'm wanting something similar to South Indian style. The onion dosa contained what looked like a full, medium sized onion. In Southie style it should be pan fried till brown, sometimes incorporated into the dosa or stuffed inside, this was barely translucent. Didn't slap. The masala dosa was mid. Didn't touch much. Hate throwing away food but.. Not wasting the stomach on barely good. Something about the texture of the dosa wasn't... It just wasn't good. One and done. If a restaurant offers dosa, it's gotta be great. Maybe their other foods are better?

We tried their chicken dosa, aloo samosa, and mutton thali. I love dosas but I think I prefer dosas from a different restaurant in the neighborhood. However, the mutton thali was delicious and I would come back here just for that. Which makes sense, it's in the name. I will be back!

When I say Tan you say Dory…read more Tan! Dory! Tan! Dory! Yes I know it's spelled different but the message here is to get the Tandoori. Easily the best Indian I've had. The highlights were garlic naan, Lamb Vindaloo, and of course the Tandoori Chicken. The only criticisms was that the Chili Naan was way too spicy. I like heat and Indian heat never really gets my mouth burning. This Chili was really just raw hot peppers in the Naan. Tikka masala was actually not great either. Favorite of the below was the lamb vindaloo followed by the tandoori chicken. The somosas were my favorite I've had to day- gotta get the lamb. They had those funky little indian pickles too which were great. Super aromatic. I felt it seeping through my pores (in a great way) for the next few days. Momo was solid but I'd either switch to chicken chili fry Momo or chicken 65 next time. This was our order: 2 orders of tandoori chicken 1 order of chicken tikka masala 1 order of lamb vindaloo 1 order of palak paneer 1 order of Momo 3 orders of samosas 1 order of onion pakora 4 orders of naan 4 orders of chutney 1 order of raita 1 order of pickles 1 order of dessert And we ate it all! 6 of us. Shoutout to the incredible staff and chef. We were able to meet him which was an honor and a privelage.

Well seasoned, grilled, meat soft, juicy, the fat is nicely rendered. I would get this again but it's so expensive. Probably only for special occasions Chicken kebab bihari $26- super super super good. I would come just just for this. The meat is super soft, tender, moist. I've never had kebabs this moist and tasty. High way chicken kahari with bone $22- white meat, lots of spicy, some heat..complex flavors. Good with rice or naan. The restaurant was quite packed and full of patrons. Overall the restaurant was very loud and it was hard to hear in there. We ordered the Chicken Biryani, The Highway Chicken Karahi, the lamb kebabs, the chicken Bihari kebabs, chicken Tikka and the beef Seekh kebabs. Although the food looked good, it wasn't quite up to the mark. The chicken biryani was dry and had too much essence in it, the chicken Tikka was dry. The chicken Karahi and the lamb kebabs by far were their best dishes. Honestly though for $228, we felt the food was overpriced and the quality of the food, fell well short of our expectations. Overall, we give Bandoo Khan a 3 out of 5 stars. It is a one time for us. There are better options out there with better prices.
