I believe that King Soopers/City Market/Kroger is discriminatory in their pricing for customers who are least able to afford it, including SENIORS, those in low-income brackets and "non-techie" persons. I am 66 years old and so didn't grow up with computers to make me tech-savvy. I went to my neighborhood King Soopers for groceries and picked up 3 avocados with a sign saying they were 99 cents each for a total of $2.97. At check-out, they rang up at $7.50, a 252% increase over the posted price. When I questioned it, I was told that I didn't have a digital coupon and was handed a flyer about an app. They wouldn't honor the posted price, even though I had the King Soopers "membership." The idea of having to figure out the technology in the check-out line and then start shopping again was overwhelming and I ended up leaving the avocadoes there while wondering how many other items in my cart were overcharged. You shouldn't have to jump through hoops to be able to buy groceries at a fair price! I see vans of seniors from assisted living centers dropped off at King Soopers for a short shopping trip. Most are much older than me, many with mobility issues. Are these seniors likely to have smart phones with clipped coupons ready to go or have the knowledge and physical ability to be scanning QR codes? Is their eyesight good enough to read the tiny print at the bottom of the large posted sales prices, telling them they won't be able to get the listed price but will be financially penalized for not having the technology or know-how to get better prices? And what about low-income people who can't afford smart phones? Or other non-tech savvy people like me, who may have flip-phones or no cell phone at all? I have to assume that most are being grossly overcharged. After 30+ years of being a loyal King Soopers customer, I will no longer shop there. When I first began shopping there, everyone got the same prices. Then they instituted a free "membership" where you had to register your personal information to get lower prices on some items. Now you still need that membership every time you check out, but it apparently isn't good enough for fair prices anymore unless you also have an app and have weeded through for digital coupons or scanned QR codes. Buying food should not be that hard! I have to wonder how much extra income King Soopers is making off of people who either don't have the ability or don't know about the pricing structure. My husband doesn't use apps of any kind and has a basic phone, so I assume he is ripped off each time he does the shopping. I do know that he paid $12 for a carton of 18 eggs at King Soopers last week. Just wow. read more

This store is so out of control. I realize they are going through a major remodel, but they were out of control before that. They have one particular 'line monitor' who I know when I see her I will be waiting in line for a long time. One time I heard another employee ask her if he should open another checkout line and she answered no! As someone who had just waited in line for a long time I was shocked. When we can my husband and I use self checkout, but that doesn't work well when you have large items or a full cart. Where is store management? Do they not see what's going on? I want to be clear that this is not a rating of a single experience but of many experiences. The second I have a choice in where to shop my husband and I are gone. read more

This past Sunday I went to the bakery in this location to pick up my daughter's birthday cake that we had ordered a few days prior. I was disappointed and angered to find out the order was never made. Their baker had been out and orders weren't being fulfilled. So why the 5 stars you ask? Well, I will tell you, dear reader. I picked out a cake and cupcakes on display that would fit the birthday theme and three women in the department immediately started putting something together. I left the store with the cupcakes and they promised they would deliver the cake within the hour, which they did. The cake looked great and everything was provided free of charge. Mistakes happen and businesses are short-staffed right now but these women did everything they could to make it right. read more

This is my grocery store and the staff are great! One time during Halloween, our daughter broke her leg and was not able to go trick or treating so when we asked the store manager if we could borrow one of their scooters he said of course and the candy fest continued! Everyone here is friendly and go out of their way to make a difference. Aside from all the added quick buy strategically placed products that kind of clutter the store, the shopping experience is always a pleasure! We eat at home every single meal except twice a month we go out as a treat. I buy the majority of my food from Natural Grocers for this very reason. The yogurt size has been reduced dramatically and King Soopers thinks we don't notice and charge the same price. They also have very little organic options. Customer is always WRONG at this store, clerks manager will flat out argue when they indeed are wrong. Every-order, every-time I am overcharged for some items. Rather than provide a refund they management will argue until you provide them wrong by wasting time and finally getting the department manager to confirm that indeed the prices charged were overcharged. ALSO PICKLIST SCAM RIP-OFF Picked up PickList Order, included BOGO on Pot Roast. Roast #1 weight 2.56 lbs, Roast #2 weight 1.57 lbs. Given the 1.57 lbs Roast for free and charged for the much more expensive roast !!! RIP OFF, of course any shopper would choose same/similar weight roast to get the value will never trust this service. BUYER BEWARE!!! Will be returning all meet items for full refund. read more

I am specifically rating this store on their Click List grocery pick-up. It's the best of any KS Click List store in the south Metro area. I place huge orders ($300-400 an order). And I order a lot of random things. The most I've ever gotten was two substitutions. That's impressive. At other stores I have ordered $75 worth of stuff and ended up with 5 substitutions which makes me think they just couldn't find the item, not that it was actually out of stock. They clearly have a fantastic Click List team and I really appreciate it. Thank you! read more

This king soopers is dirty and nasty. The remodel is worse than the original. The staff is rude as can be. Now that they wear masks they think they can talk shit under their breath and they feel safe because they hide behind their masks. It's really too bad this is the only grocery in castle pines. We will be going to the king soopers in castle rock where it's clean, the staff is nice and helpful and not rude. The owner of this store should fire most of its employees and managers. 02-21-2020 There is a full time Cashier by the sweet name of "Laura" that makes grocery shopping a real pleasure. She is always smiling and cheerful. What a difference a single person can make grocery shopping so wonderful. My wife and I certainly hope that management acknowledges her! "Andrew" in the fish department is another wonderful employee. As far as large grocery stores go this one pretty great! The parking is well laid out, making it convenient to get in and get out without getting run over or having to lug your groceries to the ends of the earth! The store itself is kept clean and well organized. I especially love the abundant produce section. They have a good selection of organic offerings and also offer many prepped items, similar to Whole Foods, in portabello mushrooms with garnish ready for grilling or asparagus with minced garlic and lemon. Very convenient in a pinch. And, my favorite, the Nick-n-Willy's take and bake pizza parlor inside the store. Nick-n-Willy's will make you any pizza on the menu while you shop or they will sell you pizza dough already spread out on a tray so that you can take it home and make your own creations. Perfect family fun on a Friday night and it's only $3 or $4 dollars! The floral department gets some nice arrangements in but my favorite is the hydrangea bunch for only $6.99.... affordable which I love. The floral department even has a mark down area for discount flowers. The rest of the store appears to be pretty standard for area grocery stores. They have seasonal items, deli, bakery, frozen foods, etc. ***For me, it is the little things like easy parking, fresh pizza dough and abundant flowers that make the difference. Clean store. Friendly, helpful people. Crowded. Kroger took what was a family-owned grocery store and turned into a distribution point for their house brands. This location has slowly, but surely, replaced the name brands with their house brands. For many items, there is only one major brand on the shelf whereas there used to be a wide selection available. read more

Honestly, every time I go into this King Soopers I leave feeling uncomfortable because of the negative behavior of employees. Some of the employees are very nice but not all of them. Many of the checkers and stock personnel have been downright rude and I've actually heard some of them making fun of the customers. Who's the manager there? This is one of my favorite King Soopers! The thing that makes it so wonderful is the bakery. This bakery always has the freshest products that always taste amazing. I believe they have recently gotten a new manager in that department and he is very competent and very friendly. I am pretty sure his name starts with a M, i think it was Matt but i could be wrong.
