They replaced an old skylight, removed our old chimney, and added a gutter to the back. We were really happy with the quality of the work and the price. When it came time to do a full roof replacement, they were the first place we called. And to be honest, they weren't the cheapest but we still went with them given our prior experience and the fact they would handle re-mounting our solar system directly. We worked mostly with Brian and Earl, both great guys and incredibly experienced. We had a lot of dry rot issues on our joists and their carpenter did a fantastic job (photos attached). The roof came out better than expected, it looks so clean and makes the entire house look better. We were also impressed with their thorough cleanup of the site each day, the attention to detail (even caulking around the replaced joists for us), and going the extra mile to replace a ceiling panel that was damaged when the old roof was torn off. They do most things by phone and don't use any fancy appointment systems, but if you want a roof done the right way by the most experienced people, Cal-Pac is the one you want. They shout to each other across the roof and in general, have no constraint at all. They leave their heavy equipment on the street and daisy chain extension cards to run cheap residential fans overnight. The quality of their work remains to be seen, but considering they don't seem to make enough to hire a professional crew or buy appropriate tools (like nail guns or industrial fans), I would say that they are not so popular. Pick these guys if you want a sloppy and noisy job site and the annoyed neighbor's that they bring to your block. I would have given them a -5 if the option were available.

I can't say enough positive things about them. They responded quickly to my questions and requests , and before I chose them, Steve, the owner, spent a lot of time answering my questions. I have a combination flat and sloped roof, and that requires different materials for each part. Steve and his crew were clearly adept at both applications. They use a drone to show what they're doing on the roof, and it was clear from the pics and videos what they're currently working on, what had been completed and what was still in progress. They did a good job cleaning up the surrounding yard as things progressed, and when the roof was finished, they did a final sweep to make sure all fallen debris and metal ( nails, etc) were found and disposed of ( they used a large magnet!). My complaint is that they charge an additional $250 if you want before or after photos and the quote specifically states they do not guarantee their work. So I got a quote to fix some damage they found, but if I wanted to see the damage or see how it was fixed, that would cost an additional $250, and I have no recourse if they do a poor job. When I asked them about the photos clause in email there was no response. When I called on the phone, the woman I spoke with was very rude. She told me it was the owner's rule and if I didn't like it then I should go with someone else. So I did.

On the day of, a guy in a white GMC truck came over, which I spoke to him briefly about the work needed to be done. He said "Sure, will give you an estimate" and walked back to his truck. I went back inside to check on my kids and notice, instead of grabbing a ladder, he got in the truck and just drove off. So, obviously, he didn't want the job. I've dealt with hiring many contractors in the past and know when certain ones doesn't want a job by the way make excuses on doing the job, mention they're too busy, or raise the price super high so you don't end up choosing them. But this incident, just driving off, was a new low to being very unprofessional. A simple NO would've sufficed. So, don't bother calling these guys unless you have a huge job. Otherwise you'll waste your time and be a waste of theirs. UPDATE: So this business replied to my review soon after (see below), stating there was a miscommunications and that "their estimators" do the review onsite and creates estimates soon after with details in their findings. TOTAL BS. How the heck did you do a "review on site and provide an estimate" when you jumped back in your truck not even a minute AFTER talking to you. Plus, It's the week after and we still haven't received a response and don't think we ever will. Actually, I just realized, the guy that had came to my residence and replied to my review WAS the guy that came to my residence... the owner!
