When you start to feel like South Florida has become too crowded, especially during the weekend of the West Palm Beach boat show, then just head north. Hidden in the sweet Manatee pocket of Port Salerno, is this fabulous family run restaurant. Do yourself a favor and stop in! We started with the Buffalo shrimp, which I sadly forgot to take a photo of because they were fantastic and gobbled down in two seconds. Then moved to the seafood bisque, which was loaded with clams, shrimp, and flavor, and then finished with the Pistachio crusted mahi (cooked perfectly and well flavored) and the homemade Keylime pie. Immediately greeted upon our arrival, and told of a short wait, our smiling waitress took our drink order and allowed us to relax outside until the table was ready. Service with a smile these days is hard to find and I'll tell you she was a treat! (I do not know what these other reviewers are talking about but we had a wonderful experience from start to finish. Now we were there at 5:30 on a Saturday so maybe that helps.) Either way, do yourself a favor and visit this local, delicious little joint. You will be glad you did! read more

A real local fish place. Fairly small...about 8 wooden tables. Nothing fancy. Very clean and bright. It's been there for years and still they hold the prices to a reasonable amount. My friend and I went around 2:30 pm on a Friday in the off-season, so there was no wait. We split the grouper Reuben, fried combo with oysters, shrimp, and fish fingers, fries, and onion rings. The Reuben was outstanding! The fish was so fresh and there was enough cheese that it was crispy fried on one side of the rye bread. The fried combo was succulent. I was so pleased with this place that I have put it in my top 5 fish places in the area. BTW, the waitress couldn't have been nicer. read more

If you're looking for really good seafood, King Neptune is the place to go! Get there early, as spots fill up quickly in the small restaurant. Their onion rings are soaked in tobacco, giving them an awesome flavor. I always order the conch appetizers and the sautéed scallops. Nothing compares! read more

The food was good but it honestly took over an hour to get the food. I wish we knew it would take that long because we would have skipped it for the limited time we had. We assumed because there were only 10 other people in the restaurant, it couldn't take that long to make shrimp and grits. Over all the food was pretty tasty and seemed fresh. read more

We started with the most delicious soup and fried conch. Perfection! My problem was either the sandwiches. The house special grouper and the pistachio crusted mahi had way more bread than fish! It was very expensive for the mostly bread sandwiches. read more

So fun fact about this restaurant, it's been Family owned and operated since 1968. Who doesn't love supporting these kinds of restaurants? This restaurant itself is pretty small with no outdoor seating. Located on the corner of a semi long shopping strip close to the Intercoastal. We showed up about 1pm on a Saturday, wasn't that busy. Crazy enough, a flood of people started to come in one right after another about 15 mins after we showed up. From what I noticed, there was only one waitress and another person help clean off tables. She had her hands full but was kicking butt at it. The seating area has normal tables but we choose a high top. If you noticed the menu front and back they do have highlighted options that are the most popular. We came for a couple of appetizers to share but would love to come back from one of the many intriguing entrées. Seafood bisque- (highlighted option) very creamy, chunks of different kind of seafood. highly recommend. Ahi Tuna- slices of fresh tuna with sesame seeds. How can you ever go wrong?! Crack conch- chunks of fried battered conch. Delicious with amazing dipping sauce included. If you have never been here and have lived in Martin County for longer than year, shame on you. This is me also calling out Bryan for living here for 15 years and this is his first time coming here. Highly recommend. read more

Friendly Local Neighborhood Restaurant where everyone seems to be treated as if you were family or friends. Cracked conch appetizer fresh, tender, lightly fried. Very fluffy and tasty with their delicious conch sauce. The Shrimp and Grits was Hearty and out of this world. The Shrimp was cooked to perfection. So this is a mixed review As there are some Good and bad things with my visit. I was visiting family and they had been here before. Always looking for a good place. This is a small place with a limited amount of tables. Service here was really BAD. I understand that things get busy but there were a few things that stood out. 1. People that arrived after our party were served ahead of us 2. Our food 3 fish sandwiches took about 45 minutes to serve. 3. There were obvious problems, but there was no communication about what was happening. So let's talk about the food. We started with the conch fritters and they were pretty good. Then I had a mahi mahi fish sandwic. Again the food was good but they served the sandwhich on regular sandwich bread. I have never had that happen before. Just weird but hey that's how they do it. Not a fan. Overall I was really disappointed with the experience. This not only happened to us but there was another couple that experienced the same issues. read more

After reading the reviews I was excited to try this restaurant. The meal started out strong with a delicious (yet not very hot) seafood bisque that was really the shining star of our experience. We split the hush puppies and they were just OK. My husband did like his fried grouper but it was not under seasoned. I ordered the fried clams and they were to be honest awful. They were definitely frozen and very rubbery. Mashed potatoes were good though. Maybe we just picked the "duds" on the menu but based on our experience we likely wouldn't return. read more

Great seafood dishes of all kinds! Best conch around! Good salads, soups, specials, and authentic casual Florida atmosphere.

The pistachio mahi on the sandwich was delicious. The bread absolutely does this sandwich a disservice. It's served on actual sliced sandwich bread. I've never seen this before? The menu states it's served on "bakery fresh bread". My expectation would not be to receive basically nature's own sliced bread. The fries were not super crispy. If the mahi sandwich was served on better bread and the fries were crispy this place food wise would be 5/5. Seating is limited. Seating is somewhat open to the kitchen so be aware it might be a bit noisy. read more

Great little restaurant! Service was excellent. They had 1 beer on tap, and lucky for me it was one of my favorites. Wifey and I shared a seafood bisque and it was soooooo good. The menu was small, but we both like seafood and they had all the right stuff. I got the Chilean Sea Bass special and it was cooked perfectly. The sauce, roasted red peppers and avocado that it was topped with really made the dish. My sides of cheese grits and Tabasco onion rings was tasty as well. Wifey got the pistachio encrusted dolphin, and while she did like it, I could tell she was jealous of my meal. It's MY review, so they get 5 stars read more

Awesome little dive restaurant. A dive - place that serves awesom food and drink, and no pretentious decor. Fresh seafood done right. I'm not usually a fried guy, but King Neptune's THE best cracked conch in the US. Second only to the Red Lion on Bimini. Early in the week they do specials - all you can eat fresh shrimp, and another night all you can eat steamed shrimp. Definitely worth a stop. Plenty of seafood not fried, usually comes in same day. Try it out, you won't be disappointed! read more

Ate here a couple of weeks ago and watched 2 men walk out because of comments by the rude staff. Today was our turn. And we walked out. Great old Fl wonderful seafood. I haven't been here in years, but is the same little place that it was 10-15 years ago and I guess even beyond that. I think I read that it opened in 1968! So yes this place is doing something right. Our service was excellent and we we lucky to get a table right away. I had the pan sautéed scallops and they were perfect! Some at our table raved about the seafood bisque, they said it was rich and loaded with seafood, especially crab. My husband had the seafood platter which came with fried mahi, coconut shrimp, and fried clams . He said it was very good. My daughter ordered the shrimp and grits, which I tasted and yes they were excellent! We need to visit more often! read more

Stopped on the recommendation of a woman at a local book sale. The food did not disappoint! We had the crushed conch, coconut shrimp and the grilled Mahi Mahi salad with balsamic vinaigrette, the salad was perfect! The coconut shrimp was excellent! This was my first time having conch so I had no expectation beyond just battered fried fish in general and that was what it seemed to be. The service was friendly, prompt and the waitress made great suggestions. Forgot to take a picture of the salad but it was really so delicious! read more

Oh my goodnesss this Snapper with Crab Stuffing and a polished Sherry Creme Sauce just excited every nerve in my little body. This followed the best Seafood Bisque that ever touched my palate- rich yet smooth with a phenomenal amount of seafood! The Tabasco Onion Rings are beyond description. We also shared the Fried Grouper which was beyond fresh, flaky with the perfect light batter. I don't want to discount the homemade slaw, fried plantains or great service but our entrees rocked beyond measure! If you are even close run here and if it is a two hour drive I'd still say IT is worth it! Don't miss this - you will be so sad if a foodie like me! Small and worth the wait if tables are full in the heart of Salerno! read more

I have been going to King Neptune for almost 20 years. It is the best that it has ever been!!!! Caitlynn and Dan are the best servers. They are an unbelievable asset to this long established restaurant. The restaurant is very well run in their hands!!! The menu is phenomenal and the specials are awesome. If you want the best fresh seafood anywhere on the treasure coast, you must try King Neptune. A wee hole in the wall with a queue on the street to prove how good their food is. Fresh seafood and sides to make your heart murmur. Or maybe I meant purr. The routine is to put your name on the list and pop next-door to have a glass of cheap white wine whilst waiting. Don't snooze though. They'll give your table away while you're tippling at happy hour next-door. I live five minutes from this restaurant and when my siblings visit they insist we go there each and every single time. read more

I had great experience at this place with my parents in law. I totally forgot to take pictures but I would definitely return. Horrible horrible service. Food going downhill post covid. Manager not available. Caitlin should be fired in my opinion...she's there to meet and greet her friends not to serve paying customers. She may be racist in my opinion based on how we were treated. She has no compassion. One of the great things sbout living now in South Florida is having access to fresh, locally caught fish and seafood, served up in s variety of settings. On this particular day, my Bride and I were longing for some fruite de mare, but from a very casual, inexpensive venue. We were both somewhat sun bleached and still in damp bathing suits from a day at the beach, and just wanted to revel in some simply prepared seafood. A quick check on here at Yelp disclosed King Neptune's to us, and since we were in the area anyway, decided to give it a go. The exterior of the place is somewhat non-descript, on a corner location near, but not on the water. Indeed, the interior isn't much more impressive, but very much had exactly the character we were looking for. It's a time-worn sort of place that belies a multi-decade history, single-family ownership that's clearly been a labor of love and full of simple, humble pride. I won't go into the details of what we ordered here. Rest assured it was fresh, well prepared (delicious, in fact), and abundant in portion size. Although we arrived at something of an odd hour on a Saturday afternoon - about 3pm - we were fortunate to get a table as most were already occupied. By the time we were served, it was standing room only. No mystery why. This place is a real gem. I had the sense that most of the patrons were regulars, smattered with a few wayward vacationers. King Neptune was an impressive old uber-god of the Greco-Roman ilk back in the day. This venerable eatery does its namesake proud. We will most certainly be back as its a reasonable drive from our home in West Palm Beach and well worth it. Perhaps on that visit, I'll write a review that gets into more detail regarding the delectable morsels in which we partake. read more

King Neptune Restaurant - Pretty much the whole place! 8 tables and a counter! - Seafood Near Me - Stuart, Florida

Small old Florida setting but clean. Gets crowded fast but we got there early with my elderly parents- 5pm and we're seated right away. Food service was exceptionally slow. We waited over an hour after placing our order. Two in our party ordered shrimp and grits and we were very disappointed. The grits were so bland they had no flavor. I tried adding butter and salt but that did not help. Shrimp was tasty. I quietly let a waiter know when he asked and his response was Oh sorry. We will not return there are to many other better seafood options available. read more
