For the most part I can generally find what I want/need. The first time I visited I was taken aback by the amount of 'day workers' hanging around the store. I assume they're looking for work. I purchased a few rolls of sod on one occasion and they were sitting on the rolls outside. I had to ask them to move to get my rolls, which was a bit uncomfortable. That's my main negative view of this Home Depot as that area is covered with litter. Anyway, that's not the actual store, but I can see that keeping customers away. I've found help when needed/asked, but for the most part I'm in and out. I usually know what I want, know where to find it, and I'm out the door. I was looking for plant stands on my most recent trip. They did have a few nice ones, but they did not match my decor. I did find a nice pot to replant my snake plant.

I truly think that greenhouses might be amongst my happy places, and Dundalk Florist's greenhouse in the spring does not disappoint. The anniversary of Jeremy's brother's death is coming up, so we decided to go to Dundalk Florist to pick out some sort of arrangement to send to their mother. While Jeremy was dealing with that, I struck up a conversation with another employee who said she clocked us when we came in as fellow nerds, because of my patch-covered bookbag, and Jeremy's strong Trekkie vibe. We ended up BSing for at least 20 minutes. I love it when conversation isn't awkward and employees don't seem to mind talking to make customers feel welcome. If you have people in your life who are impossible to shop for for birthdays or holiday gifts, Dundalk Florist has got your back. They have a wide variety of non-floral gifts: jewelry, handbags, knicknacks, stuffed animals... The only reason I'm giving this place 4 stars is because they can be a bit expensive. I understand this kind of pricing comes with being an independent retailer. You're always going to spend a little more when you support local. Also, if you decide to use Dundalk Florist for sending flowers, but you don't have time to visit the store, they have a website but customers should pay attention because big, nationwide florists have bought the top search results. Make sure that you are on the florist's website. If you get screwed over by the large, national chains, Dundalk Florist cannot help you fix the problem. This review is based on the estimate process, so I can not give a grade on the actual quality of the work. And generally I do not take the time to grade based just on an estimate. Some prices will work for both parties, some prices will not. You move on, no big deal. However I felt the need to make an exception in this case. I gave this company a try (as far as the estimate) based on the few reviews available. I called the # for this company, and spoke to I am guessing, the owner. He came out when I was out (spouse was there), and provided the estimate via email. I do not fault anyone for looking to make money, that is the purpose of having a business and commerce. However the estimate here was egregiously out of line with the other estimates received by a factor of ten. Hence me informing him very simply, yet straight forward and politely, no thanks. It did initially strike us as a hail-mary, gouging price, hence this review. To honestly help inform others, as Yelp has always been very helpful and informative to me, in making my commerce decisions. However after discussing with the contractor he pointed out these were not apples to apples comparison. His scope of work included more expensive options (such as sodding opposed to seeding) . I did point out to perhaps offer more tailored estimates, or a range of estimates to be more in line with his customer's respective budgets, to avoid potential sticker shock. But after speaking to him, I am satisfied this was simply a miscommunication, rather than a padded estimate, and nothing malicious was meant. And my adjusted rating represents this. Hopefully this review will be useful to someone, both customers and contractors, in making sure both parties are on the same page regarding budget, before working up estimates. I knew I was in the hands of an artist when she talked about color, texture and, how to put together a beautiful garden that we would enjoy. She immediately understood us and made suggestions -for example "that's a wonderful tree except that it drops spiky balls, and your children will be unhappy if they go out in bare feet. " She knows everything about every plant, how well it does in light or shade, How wide or tall it might grow, and planned long term for how things would look 5,10, and 20 years down the road, and though the seasons.
