I would like to update my review from last year amen I was in Lincoln and have a 3 pt review due to poor customer service in the drive through. Decided to give it another try because the gyro was amazing! And I am happy to report that the customer service this time was much friendlier and accommodating for my extra sauce! And like last time, the gyro still tastes amazing. The portion of meat was very big. I could only eat half of it in one setting so I'll be having leftovers tomorrow. So the price really isn't all that high due to the portions provided! I will be in town for 2 weeks, so I may even be going back again before going home to Oklahoma! read more

The Kong Burger is legendary amongst my friends and I, and rightfully so. I've never had a burger that turned me into a literal human piñata. I've never been so full in my life. When I finally finished, I didn't eat for a day and a half after. I was SWOLT up like Dolph Lundgren in Rocky 4 and the empty plate was looking at me like "If he d*es... he d*es." We had not been into King Kong for a couple years so it was time to check them out again. I ordered the burger with cheese and Kim ordered the Philly special which came with fries. Burger was cooked to perfection as was the Philly. The french fries were hot and very good. The staff is fairly quiet, but friendly and the place is super clean. If I ever had any complaint, it would be the buns because they are dry. I really think if they would toast the buns it would make a world of difference because they've got everything else right. You definitely get your moneys worth quantity and quality. read more

If I had to rate this place on ambiance and cleanliness alone...it would probably be two or three stars. I got to admit...it's a little janky. It's order, pay, and pick up at the counter. You can find the menu online or it's above the front counter too. Seating is a combination of booths and tables and chairs. It does seem a little pricey... I'd never stopped at a King Kong before. We ordered a double king kong burger with mushrooms and cheese with fries, a gyro sandwich (not tomatoes) with onions rings, and a medium drink. The total was just South of $60. Whenever I see a burger patty advertised as 8 oz (1/2 lb) I assume that's pre-cooked weight. Here... It's probably cooked weight. The burger was massive and so was the gyro. They both met the branding standard you would think of with "King Kong." The fries were some of the best I've had. Double fried I assume with a crunchy texture that kept heat in making them taste hot and fresh from the start to the end of the meal. I enjoyed the onion rings too. All the food was good... And we were both SO full! I hardly ever split meals, but this is one place I could probably split a meal with someone and have no issues with it. The staff was busy so there wasn't a lot of interaction. They were friendly enough, but like many other places they seemed a little understaffed. Maybe that explains the tables etc. not being wipoed down. Now knowing what I know... I'd go back. I'd just be a little more prepared for what I was walking into. Go for the food. Expect to put a dent in your wallet. Don't go for the ambiance. Lol read more

King Kong has always been a stop of mine when traveling through Lincoln. I love the gyros! On a recent stop on a Wednesday, I saw their special was top sirloin. I was a little sceptical at $17 but went for it anyway. Probably one of the best steaks I have eaten! Perfectly cooked amazing beef! With salad fries and a pita, you cannot go wrong! We pulled off the exit to get gas and the giant gorilla in the air was calling us with his burgers in hand. The sign outside says gyros, burger, Phillies and steaks. PERFECT! As you enter the restaurant you will notice the ample amount of primates found on the ceiling and just around. The menu is large but we found what we wanted. A gyro, Philly cheese steak and fries. Yes, there is a language barrier but everyone was very nice. The special of the day is the way to go. Our meals came to the table and WOW!!! We were impressed. We plan on stopping back through and grabbing some King Kong's anytime we are on I80 coming through the area! read more

This was quite a surprise in the outskirts of Lincoln. A burger Greek joint with a giant King Kong outside. The place surprises with a giant smash burger and tasty gyro. My wife got the sirloin Greek salad, so no pictures since she was hungry and you don't mess Mother Nature or a hungry wife. (She said it was delicious) The service was pretty quick and the order was correct. The ultimate in fast food ethics, get it fast and right. The outside looks like it needs a bit of work, but that's just lipstick. Would definitely recommend if you are traveling in the area and need a quick meal. read more

Wow. We used to take our kids here when it opened, so in a burst of nostalgia, we were back in the area and decided to go. Unfortunately, they haven't cleaned the place during that multi-year span. Dirty. One booth was blocked off as a "caution" and the seats we sat on were barely sittable. The windowsills were filthy, the ductwork and ceiling were filthy, and the ambiance included filthy flying stuffed animals, Christmas lights that weren't working, and fake plants that were also filthy. There were handwritten signs posted on both trash cans we noticed while eating that said don't throw away the silverware, which later added the word "metal." But we had visions of them washing our plasticware which didn't increase our appetites. The food itself was ok, but the bun wasn't toasted, and for the price of the burger, probably should be. The fries were an extra charge. I'm sure they hope you'll only go through the drive through, but if you go in, good luck. Nobody is maintaining the grounds outside either, which should have been our first clue. If you want a large, daisy shaped frozen burger on a cold bun, this is your place. Otherwise, you may want to leave the great memories in the past and find a new place to build some new ones. read more

At first I was hesitant to eat here but always determined to try local cuisine I entered. It's nothing special decor wise and I did not have high hopes seeing the inside. I ordered the gyros sandwich and fried mushrooms to go. The sandwich was DELICIOUS. It had tzatziki sauce throughout and was plentiful. The fried mushrooms were not overdone and served hot. I observed the single, double, triple and Super Kong (2lbs) burgers being prepared. The vehicle and foot traffic was a steady flow to the restaurant. Looks clearly can be deceiving. Try King Kong. Kind of a funky place, burgers, Mediterranean, King Kong? Not particularly nice, obviously used to be something else and has been used hard. Not cheap but lots of gyro meat. King Kong was doing the fusion restaurant thing before it was a thing-- here in Lincoln, this might be the only burger/Greek/Mediterranean inspired restaurant I know of... Which is not to say it's the only one, just that I don't spend a lot of time in Lincoln. travel through a couple times for different things, visiting family in Omaha, educational conference one time, driving across country... That sort of thing. On a recent pass through town, we were feeling peckish, and I had seen the giant sign and familiar humongous gorilla name before, so I decided to give it a shot. Being from Southern California, there is no shortage of burger places, and a lot of them also feature gyros and Shawarma and hummus plates, with sides of rice and pickled turnips. King Kong had that vibe, but as much as I hate to say it, their gigantic burgers were a little on the "needs a little salt" side. Nothing I couldn't fix with a few packets of ketchup, and some fries... But a reasonably good burger place if you're really hungry. Ever been to Lucky Boy in Pasadena, CA? It's like that: giant burger, not giant flavor. Is this place expensive? I don't know-- I think I spent $39 for a hamburger once in San Francisco, so it's well below that level of opulent stupidity. Food. Gyro meat good, tender,tasty. Pita was a little stale. The tzatziki sauce is fake, compare to real ranch vs bottled. Not terrible, but not terribly good. Extra sauce wasn't an extra charge. Gyro plate had a gyro, Greek salad and rice w potatoes on top with a strange red sauce, the flavor was basically undetectable. No hummus on the gyro plate. Nice staff. Food is really tasty here. The portions are gigantic (hence the name King Kong) but you do have to pay a bit more than your average quick service meal due to the portions. Be sure to come hungry. My 8 year old got the kids meal and the burger was bigger than here face! I highly recommend the chicken gyro. It was my favorite. The fries also have a unique great seasoning on them. This use to be one of my favorite places to grab a quick meal. Thats not the case anymore. The sirloin use to be $13 plus tax, its now $20. The quality of the meat has gone downhill big time. I think they must have changed meat suppliers to save money. The cuts of meat they are getting are absolutely terrible. If you order a sirloin now just figure 40% of what you get will be fat and or grissle. Its horrible and most certainly not worth $20. The old cook quit or got fired, his replacement has no idea how to cook. read more

I have sort of a nostalgic attachment to it but I think I've only been once since I moved to Lincoln so I gave it another chance today. That ... was a mistake. It only gets two stars instead of one because at least it was fast and polite service but wow, they really barely scraped by. The prices are practically highway robbery- the menu is a la carte for the most part and you're paying $12 for the crappiest burger made with the cheapest ingredients. It's edible but that's all I can say for it. They're kinda big but overall youre much better off going to, say, Honest Abe's, where you'll get MUCH higher quality, about the same amount of food, and it'll cost you less. Also, fun tidbit- they charge a percentage based card surcharge if you don't pay cash, which seems so stinking petty when they're overcharging so much anyway. read more

This is not what I expected. I was drawn in by the huge gorilla outside but inside is a simple place with simple seating like the typical fast food place. Ou can order steak, hamburger chicken and my fav which is gyros. You can get just a pita sandwich or a plate with crispy fries and a Greek salad. Let me say that the sandwich is huge. It's has twice the meat that most places have so my advice is to not unwrap it. You can never get it back together. It's tasty. The pita is very fresh and warm. I would suggest asking for more tzatziki sauce though. For two of us, we got one sandwich and one plate so we shared the salad and fries. It was plenty. It was hot. It was delicious. read more

My family and I have visited this restaurant over the years when traveling in and through Lincoln. I took two of my kids there last night to get salads. I was a really disappointed. The prices for a Greek salad with gyro meat had increased to 12.99. The price is higher and the quality is much lower. I was shocked to see the meat for the salad was it a pan on a ledge next to the grill. It is no longer sliced to order. It wasn't cooled or heated. I have no idea how old it was. My kids ate it because they were hungry. I was no longer hungry. When I paid the bill a surcharge was added because I paid with a credit card. It was over 29 with tax and surcharge for two mediocre salads. This will be my last time I visit. I cannot advise anyone eating there read more

Maybe if they hired some people who speak English that would be helpful....Then when I get my food from the girl and check it and confront her with where my missing food is...she has the balls to argue with me and try to charge me extra for the missing food that I clearly ordered!!! I saw the giant Gorillas and thought fun burger place. BUT not really the case. They do have huge Burgers (4 1/2 lbs patties) but no seasoning so bland taste. The place is really a Gyros joint but with an Asian cooking style. So wanted to love it, but bland gyros as well and quite dingy inside. So my recommendation is take a pic of the gorillas and move on. read more
