Love checking out local spots when I'm traveling for work! Sultan's kite has been a staple in the downtown Lincoln area for quite some time and they NEVER disappoint! Recently went for lunch, even if there is a line, they getting moving quickly! Staff are always very pleasant and accommodating. Falafel are made to order which means you always get them hot and fresh! They never sit under a heat lamp. Everything was very flavorful! I love the chicken shawarma and chicken tikka korma. The potatoes and rice are comforting. The salad is also packed full of ingredients! There is seating but can definitely get packed. Great to dine in or takeout! The only reason why it's a 4 is because the green sauce was not spicy enough and I really was expecting it to be spicy but it wasn't. The service was good and fast. Wasn't busy at all. We had come to Lincoln for a lecture/performance at the Polley Music Library and wanted to get some dinner, so I checked Yelp reviews of walkable places. We were intrigued by the name of Sultan's Kite so we set off for there, what could that even be? It seemed like a mysterious adventure. We were momentarily thrown off since it, at first glance, seemed to just be a regular gyro place. But then we were greeted by a staff member who was so genuinely nice and helpful that we knew this was the right place. We each got a chicken tikka korma plate, since that was unexpected. I got the spicy green tzatziki, and it was actually quite spicy. We were surprised at how heavy the boxes were; you get a lot of food for such a low price. My traveling companion was surprised again when he realized he had eaten the whole thing, and suggested we could drive to Lincoln again tomorrow so we could come here again. I suggested he could buy another meal to take home, as I myself was bringing home enough leftovers for the next day. We really did enjoy the chicken tikka korma. So tender and delicious. The experience here was so nice, we ended up forgetting to ask what a Sultan's Kite even is. Maybe we'll remember next time. read more

This place has had a glow up since I was in college! The food is just as good (maybe better) as I remember it. But with a completely updated interior. The menu is a bit confusing but start on the right side then move left. Pick your base, protein, and sauce. I recommend the rice bowl options as your base but like your life. The falafel was amazing and a great vegetarian option. The other folks at my table were raving over the Chicken Tikka Korma. The potato wedges side is great. Good portion size to split between two people. All of the portions are quite large and a great value for the price. Street meter parking is available and there are several parking garages close. read more

Well, my wonderful sister and friend ordered for me here today via GrubHub as part of my walk and her birthday celebration! I have walked by this place many times and kept saying I gotta try here. I picked up, but still ate inside. Nice and clean restaurant with good seating. The workers here were all very nice. I am not sure exactly what happened, but I think a food service driver picked up my bag of food. I had to ask for the food and it was not there at the pick up as they had said. I showed them the order and they quickly made all the food again for me. I had the chicken shawerma, salad, pita bread, hummus, and falafel bites! All was so very tasty!!! Read the reviews and was optimistic going in. This place definitely lived up to it! Very easy in and out experience. You choose your style (ie pita, salad, naan, rice) and then protein (gyro, falafel, shawarma, etc). Choose your sauce (recommend the red sauce which is the normal tzatziki with a little chili kick) and toppings of lettuce, tomato, feta, onions, etc. Portions are huge and still less than $10! I know there are different locations, our order positively came from this one as we were a very close delivery. Chicken Shawarma on pita - the chicken was very dry & some lettuce pieces were brown Chicken Shawarma w/salad - the chicken was again very dry & we had to pick out brown lettuce pieces Lentil soup - could have been really good, but it was too salty - plus the rice it was supposed to come with was not delivered We also ordered delivery to a hotel, and no napkins or silverware were included. Listen, I've been trying to eat here ever since I saw them on some top 100 list and my neighbors kept telling me all about this joint. Since the pandemic I've really had no reason to go to Lincoln. Even before the pandemic, I really had no reason to go. Then like divine intervention, John Crist goes to to Roccoco theater which happens to be 20 yards away from Sultans Kite. The interior of this place is clean, straightforward, and illuminated with a huge wall painting on one side. Pretty sure there was a kite in that image. I didn't know if it was more of a sit down, but it's a fast casual setup which is even better. The portions are generous- the girl behind the counter kept scooping the rice and chicken for my rice bowl without a hint of reluctance or hesitation. The salad looked really fresh and a squirt of the dressing was all I needed because I could tell this plate was loaded with flavor. One bite in and I was hooked. They used sliced chicken thighs which generally are juicier and more flavorful than breast because of the fat content and dark meat. The tzatziki sauce was such a tasty complement to the dish and the side salad was enough to make me feel as if I was eating healthy without having to actually eat healthy for dinner. I was not about to let this experience go to waste so I made sure to also tack on a baklava to my order. Delicious! When done correctly the baklava should be crunchy and not soggy as I've had it in other places. The one here was crunchy, right amount of sweet, and full of nutty goodness! Killer value for money! We just moved to Lincoln, and wanted to try something new. We got one each of the shawarma, gyro and falafel. Each was very good... I personally liked the falafel most. But for less than $10/each, we even had a full serving's worth of leftovers. My only minor gripe is before we added the sauce, none of the meals had a lot of flavor. I ate the delicious chicken shawarma, amazing seasoning and cooked through perfectly. The hummus was fantastic and you could tell that it was no grocery store bought hummus. They gave me so much, and they even gave me some other things just to give them to me to try!! They put some falafel in my box because I mentioned how I liked it. The falafel was amazing, I have only tried a few other places but this place knew how to do it. With most, they make them too overbearing with flavor, but here they do it just right. During a cross country drive, we found ourselves in Lincoln, NE, for the night. When our hotel clerk mentioned this place, and that they were on Door Dash, we jumped at the chance to not get back in the car. We ordered the chicken tika korma and the gyro plate. Both came with Greek salads The salads were fresh and loaded with olives and feta cheese. Even the tomatoes tasted like good, midwestern variety. The gyro meat was nicely spiced and very moist. I love coming here for lunch! Fast service and the employees are always super nice. I usually order the falafel salad without the dressing (instead with a little drizzle of olive oil and vinegar) with green (fiery chili) tzatziki sauce. I like to dip my falafel AND my salad in the tzatziki sauce. The sauce is amazing! I wish they would sell it in tubs so that I could buy it to dip some pita bread or some veggies in it at home.
