My husband went to college in Lincoln and he LOVES the Gourmet Grill. He has taken me a few times and I definitely see the charm in it, but I think it's a bit of nostalgia adding to the greatness for him. The interior is nothing to write home about, but you can always take your food to go and not eat inside. The last time we were there was in the middle of summer and the A/C was either broken or non-existent and there was water dripping from the ceiling. The only times we've been back to Lincoln and hitting Gourmet Grill also are during Husker football game days, and so the place is BUSY. The seating choices are pretty hard to come by on a normal day, so on game days, you'll be fighting for a place to sit - another reason to do grab-and-go. Their burgers are massive and taste like they've come off a grill that hasn't been cleaned in years, which gives it a real authentic taste (and I'm not joking, either, it's so good). And the Gyro Burger (the burger but with gyro meat added) is a good choice too. The fries are pretty good also, if you're a fan of crinkle fries (probably frozen, but that's fine, I'm sure every place has some item frozen on their menu). One of the best things on the menu, though is the Baklava! It comes wrapped in a plastic film, but it does seem to be homemade. Very flavorful and sweet with the nuttiness you're used to with baklava. Gourmet Grill has their bright spots and good things, so they are definitely worth a stop to check out if you're in Lincoln, to see if you like it! read more

I wish ZERO STARS was an option. TWO nights in a row we order food for pickup, arrive and both nights they tell us they're out of chicken! What??? i cannot stop coming here. seriously. it's so good that today, i ordered it for lunch AND dinner. they're a little pricey but i love the "Z sandwich". my husband loves the gyro burger. i will say though, the service is hit or miss. there are times i have a really good experience (friendly, fast, helpful) and other times they barely say anything. one time, my husband i went in and after we got our food the server was taking selfies and watching tiktoks behind the counter. look, i'm pretty young myself but i've worked a restaurant before and would NEVER be doing that, especially on camera IN FRONT OF CUSTOMERS. most of the time it's pretty good though! still recommend this place to many people. read more

They might not be the "King of Gyros," but they're pretty decent. I'll try to rate this place in and of itself, but I just can't help but draw comparisons to Sultan's Kite. At the latter, the portions are bigger for the price and the baklava's better. But for their own sake, their food is pretty decent. I ordered a gyro, a SoBe and a baklava. The gyro was decent, although a tad on the dry side as I got closer to finishing it. The baklava was alright, but also a bit dry. Plus it was one piece for $1.49, while at Sultan's Kite you get two pieces for that price. I think the whole deal came out to like 12 bucks or so. The servers looked legit and were nice enough. In short, not a bad joint overall, but you get more bang for your buck over at Sultan's Kite. Interestingly, they're located right next to another Greek place, Ali Baba, which I've yet to check out. read more

The food here is always excellent, particularly if you like middle eastern/kabob food (I've also heard that their cheeseburgers are really good). Their fries are to die for. Sometimes the wait is long, but the quality of the food is always excellent. read more

Very average. Had the gyro plate. Consisted of a (starting at the base and moving up) of pita bread, gyro meat, assorted vegetables (tomatoes and onions), tatziki sauce, and french fries. No real taste to the sauce either; however the fries were crispy and flavorful. The meat, the principle component of the dish, is standard-issue Kronos meat. I find it too salty and lacking any real character. Also since the meat is not freshly sliced off, (it is stored in a heated container) it becomes soggy and lacks any crispiness. One of the biggest problems I had was everything was piled high on a tiny plate and after a few bites food started falling off. Very annoying when you're trying to eat the food. Bigger plates would solve this dilemma. At $6.80 the value/quantity ratio is pretty good but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again. read more

There is a lot of hullabaloo as to weather this place or Ali Baba's has the better gyros. I personally choose this place based on customer loyalty and I like the seasoning on their fries. The gyros are very similar though. This place definitely has the quirkier staff, they can be as strange as it gets. Went in with a group of friends and after ordering a Gyro burger($7) I stood near the counter waiting for my food ,everyones food was coming out quickly so I thought I wouldn't be there long. After my friends that (ordered behind me) food came out I asked about mine I was told "yours isn't ready". After 10 mins I asked again and they told me" someone must have taken it" I had been standing there the whole time waiting. I was trying my best not to make a scene but they continued to brush me off saying "someone must have took it and they can't do anything for me" Now 30 mins later as everyone had gotten their food they argued with me how some one must have "stole it" and when I asked for a refund the began yelling at me and offered me the cheapest thing on the menu the chicken gyro($5). I told them no and to make me what I had paid for or give me a refund. Now he refused to listen to me anymore and fully ignoring me ,my friend talked to them and they made me the chicken gyro. It has now been about 45 mins since I placed my order and was hungry and I didn't care. The food was good.. to bad I couldn't have tried out what I actually ordered. read more

Continuing my quest for delicious Gyros, I tried this place after some others close by. This is by far the most tasty of the three. The food was hot, a mountain of meat on pita with crispy seasoned fries. The owner(?) was on the phone the whole time - that must be a thing here. But the place was clean, the food was warm and good and I noticed they have what I ordered on special for students. I will definitely return to try other items on the menu and hope to have found a good lunch spot. read more

I can't tell you how hungry I was when I stopped for lunch here. The boys at Gourmet served up some hot gyros in record time. It definitely hit the spot. A very disappointing lunch here cost me $25. I felt so ripped off as I ordered a burger and a chicken salad. The burger tasted flavorless and old (obviously frozen) and the chicken salad had five small pieces of chicken and shredded iceberg from a bad. Terrible. Are you drunk? If you can make it about a block check out Sultan's Kite. It is way better! However, the staff is nice and the food is okay. It is a bit dirty, but pretty inexpensive. The Portions are large so if you want it and can't crawl anywhere else then just do it. read more

Used to be one of my favorites but has really gone down hill. Last time I went to employee was outside smoking and when he came inside to help me he only rinsed his hands off. No soap was used! Sick.
