For a little over a month, I was conversing with Mike Davis regarding a new vehicle. After being on the hunt for one for so long, I came across a commercial for Laurel Kia. I've always wanted a Kia, and luckily I contacted Mr. Davis at the right time. He's extremely personable and attentive, and my experience in the showroom was fairly quick, no more than an hour tops. This review is long overdue. This is one of the few Kia dealerships I trust with my car. I had an engine recall and had to bring it to the dealership, and they were able to help me. Ordered my new engine replaced it within a matter of days and gave me a complimentary oil change for my troubles. I have had THE WORST experience with this car and service department! I leased a 2017 Sportage, fully loaded! The engine and tire lights have been on 7 times already and as I type this I'm waiting for a tow truck to take this heap of crap back to the dealership!!! I'm literally stranded on my birthday weekend because my car with 22,000 miles on it doesn't run!!!!! I called and left several messages, emailed letters, replied to surveys and not ONCE has anyone gotten back to me!!!! 2 weeks ago when I waited 2 hours for an oil change and tire rotation, which I had an appointment for which you have to book 2+ WEEKS ahead of time, I pick up my car and literally don't even make it a mile and my tire lights come on!!!! Low pressure? How? So in the rain, after waiting forever for my scheduled appt, I'm at a gas station getting rained on putting air in my tire!!!! The very next day the engine light comes on again! I call, leave messages, zero reply so I go on line to book another appt! Wait another two damn weeks for that but sadly the car died 2 days before my appt and now I have no car at all and they STILL have not responded at all!!! I've never had a worse vehicle, never seen such a horrible service department and there "We don't give shit, see ya, at Laurel Kia" is a fitting slogan for them!!! read more

The employee in the Parts Department seem very unwilling and lackadaisical to assist customers.

We bought a KIA from another dealership and got tire and rim coverage which you would think would be universal. I got a bad flat yesterday and had to have my car towed to the closest KIA dealership, Laurel KIA. Not only will this dealership not accept this coverage, but the maintenance department won't even call the insurance company to authorize having it towed elsewhere. Ridiculous! Absolutely horrible service management. I have an ongoing issue with a vehicle that has been in the shop 3 times for the same issue. I called to set an appointment because the check engine light has came back on for the fourth time but could not get anyone on the phone. I left a message for sales to relay to the service manager to return my phone call. The service manager, Jeremy, called me back and refused to set an appointment to look at my vehicle. He indicated he has "too many cars with problems to take on another one" and "take it back to where you bought it". When I requested the general managers information he was extremely argumentative and refused to give me contact information. I ended up with the contact information and will follow up with Alex to discuss this issue. I have filed a formal complaint with Kia Corporate. I would suggest not purchasing a vehicle from this dealership because you can not count on the service department to honor your warranty. read more

Shaddy service department. I made an appointment for 45k maintenance on my 2016 Kia Sportage SX AWD T-GDI. The owners manual and the Kia service schedule website for this vehicle states that at 45k spark plugs should be replaced. The Laurel Kia service schedule site states for $169.99 45k maintenance spark plugs replacement is included. I make the appointment bring the car in and they tell me spark plugs is not part of the 45k maintenance. So for $169.99 all you're really getting is an oil change and cabin filter replacement that probably only cost $20... read more

I bought a vehicle from Laurel Kia in Jan, 2019. I bought extra warranties, then decided to cancel them. I started trying to notify them in early May. Called the finance dept., 7 phone calls, left messages, no return calls. Finally, received a call back when I wasn't home, left a message saying to call her Mon. and have her paged. I called, no human answers, left messages with the finance dept...again no return call. I then, emailed her, as well as the mgr. She emailed the forms, I filled them out, emailed them back as well as faxed them. As of today, the warranty company still has nothing from them. Over two weeks ago, I tried to contact them again...nothing. They don't return calls, do absolutely nothing. I finally reported then to the BBB, still nothing. Next move, contacting a lawyer. Awful, awful to deal with after the sale. The mgr doesn't care. I would have been jumping through hoops to rectify this. Clearly, they don't care. read more

I wanted a new Telluride, and they had the one I wanted. So we drove there from Eldersburg, and our salesperson was quite nice...Pam I believe. Anyway, there was a lot of aftermarket b.s. on the sticker including a market adjustment (or whatever they called it), because the Telluride was so popular. Other dealers in the area were NOT adding thousands of dollars to the price just because they could, at least not on the day we were shopping. We had been to Kia in Timonium and Westminster plus called Rockville...they weren't marking them up either, but we were just done and couldn't face going to Rockville. But since I wanted the model Laurel had, and we were tired, we paid over the sticker. We did refuse the other crap they tried to add. The sales manager was really arrogant and dismissive when we wanted to negotiate about the added adjustment...didn't help that we were two women. In hindsight I wish we had waited for a nicer dealer to get the one I wanted in stock. We go to Buchanan Kia in Westminster for service, and they are so welcoming. I have no interest in returning to Laurel Kia for any reason. I love the Telluride, but the sale itself left a bad taste. read more

The salesman at this dealer has absolutely no conscience!! He led my daughter on for two days about a used car, as she did everything he told her to do to organize her finances. She took a day off of work. He talked to her today as she took an hour and a half Uber ride out to the dealership, assuring her he was holding it for her, then sold the car just as she walked in. I've warned her about slimy car dealers, but now she knows first hand about the total lack of integrity these car dealerships have. Now she has personal experience. Unfortunately, I did not have as pleasant experience as some of the other reviews would lead you to believe a person would. I made an online appointment for service at this location because my previous location, Kia of Ellicott City closed. Mind you this location is not close to where I live. My appointment was for 1p. I arrived early as I tend to do, waited until someone realized I was standing there and began to assist me. When I arrived there was a younger gentlemen assisting another customer who he got a little snippy with when the customer asked couldn't he just buy his own windshield wipers, the response, "it's up to you buddy, I don't care either way". Anyway, there was an older gentlemen that helped me. Checked me in and went over what service I was there to get. I then asked if someone could check some additional things, shaking and rattling in the car and to ensurer the breaks were good (a break inspection was included in my service anyway). The gentlemen told me that I should be out around 215-230p, let me know about their snacks, coffee and wi-fi and I went out to the waiting room (this was about 1240, the technicians were on lunch until 1p). I sat in the waiting room for about 15 minutes then received a phone call so I went outside to take it. I was on the phone for quit a while realizing that my car had not moved. There seemed to be a ton of appointments at 1p and they were taking in cars but not mine. During that time I was on the phone, the guy who helped me came outside and let me know there were factory recalls on the car which I was aware of and I told him that I knew but would schedule for those for another date since I know they will take some time. He said ok and went back in. I got off the phone around 1:45p and my car was still sitting in the parking lot. So I went to the service counter and asked the younger gentlemen who was already snippy to another person, when my car would be taken in. I was met with "well I don't know who you are or who has your car so I would have to check" not very customer service friendly. So I said ok and left out back to the waiting area. I sat there for another couple minutes and nothing, no follow up, nothing. I went back in to the service counter and spoke with the guy who initially checked me in and asked how much longer will it be before my car goes in seeing as though my appointment was at 1p and it was almost 2p. He precedes to tell me he didn't know and that they had to find a "certified" technician to look at all the additional things I asked them to look at that the other place I paid a lot of money too may have done wrong (I did tell him I had work on the car previously and not sure if it was done right). Wait, what? I figured since I was at the Kia dealer, the technicians were all certified. He was not nice about it when he said it. So I asked for my keys back and I let him know that at the very least, if my car was going to take a longer time, that could have been told to me while I was in the waiting area, when he came outside to ask about the factory recall or perhaps when I asked about the additional things, simple as ABC of customer service. He was unbothered, did not care that they just lost a customer and I pointed that out. I let him know that I see that they do a lot of business, probably because the one in Ellicott City closed and they seemingly do not care if one customer slips through the cracks. Again, he was unbothered. I asked who was the service manager, and I was told "Butch". I asked for contact information for "Butch" and was told "its the same number you called to make the appointment". Wow. Seeing as though we had already discussed that I made my appointment online, that was an uncalled for remark. I reminded him that I did not call I made the appointment online and he said just call the service number. Ok. Good luck getting in touch with "Butch". I called multiple times after I left and kept getting the "we are currently assisting other customers, please leave a message...." I left no message, no one seemed concerned about how I was treated because they couldn't even come to the waiting room to provide an update. So if that is the conduct of the employees, then it must be condoned by the boss. So thanks Butch! I have been to many Kia dealerships from North Carolina to now Maryland and this is by far the worst experience I have ever had with Kia. I plan to also send an email to the corporate office over this location because I think this is beyond substandard. I didn't ask for anything above typical customer service, after all without customers, you would not have a job. All of this could have been prevented had the guys who work the desk had a little more tact and a lot more customer service. How hard is it to say Ma'am we know your appointment is at 1p but we are behind or we know your appointment is at 1p but it is going to be a longer wait while we find the right technician to check the issues discussed...something. read more

We took our vehicle here to be fixed under warranty after an accident, they kept the car for 2 weeks to fix a minor alignment/steering column issue. 2 weeks later, the car was making a noise while making turns...we took it back. This time they looked at the issue (while holding onto the car for another week) and tightened bolts on the rack and pinion. A month later, the same issue occurred. This time they disassembled the steering system to discover a spring was missing from the strut (it wasn't replaced when it was disassembled during the first fix)...they kept the car for another 3 weeks to resolve this issue. When I went to pick up the car, the shop was closed and I was told to go to the sales desk to get my keys...it took them nearly an hour to find my lost keys. How do you lose a customer's keys?!? The sales rep tried to say he had put the keys on the counter and I took them already - blaming me! The manager FINALLY found them and I didn't even receive an apology for the accusation. Everything was fine until we took our car to get new tires at another shop, the shop did an alignment and noticed the front caster was out of alignment (specs are to be between 3.1-4.1 - ours was 4.2). The tire store told us, the only that particular caster could have issues like that was from an accident - the only accident the car was ever in was the one we took the car in for the original (and recurring) work. I took the issue to Kia and asked why this wasn't mentioned when our alignment was checked during the steering system issue, they said "it's only 0.1 out of spec, casters can't be adjusted and have to be replaced...". They proceeded to say, "it's not that big of a deal...". It's 10% out of spec, it was a result of the accident, and they STILL fail to fix it! We've taken the issue to their corporate on numerous occasions with no further help or positive results. I will never again take my car to this dealership OR purchase one of their vehicles. read more

Buying a car from Kia of Laurel, has become the worse buying experience in my recent years of buying cars. I am just getting home from having my 2016 Kia Sorento towed home. I just got the car out of the shop Thursday, June 2, 2016, for some undetrmined problem with the anti lock braking system and traction control. The previous Thursday, I made an online appointment that could not be found, though I had a reservation and confirmation number. I drove the car to a friend's house, went in to use rest room, (5 minutes), came back out and the car would not start. Caled Geico for a jump and was told that the alternator was probably not working. I am going to take the car to the dealer and wait to see how long it takes to resolve this latest issue. I am very displeased with all things Kia, and would not recommend them to anyone. read more

Laurel Kia was literally my 40th dealership visit in 3 weeks in my search for buying a pre-owned car. I came in to test drive a Honda Fit, and Pierce York was the salesman who helped me out on behalf of his desk partner. Even though I came in during a torrential downpour, he pulled the car out front for me so I didn't have to walk to it in the rain, and was nicer and more helpful than any of the 45+ car salesmen I've encountered so far! I immediately disliked the Fit and he didn't try once to convince me of why it was a great car for me to buy. He also spent a TON of time going over there inventory while sticking to the budget and specs I provided him. He never tried to pressure me or convince me of buying something that didn't fit my needs or budget. He even sat there with me and went out of his way to help me identify the right car for me and my needs (without trying to sell any of the cars at his dealership!). He explained the ins and outs of what I should look for if I want something reliable, well built and with great resale value. He even told me what to avoid (some of the more luxury type cars I was interested in, which they DID have in their inventory) because he knew they would cause me more problems or maintenance than I'm able to handle at this time. Even though it was a 45 minute trip out of my way post-work in the worst weather ever and I only test drove one car that didn't work out for me, this was by far my best experience at a dealership all these weeks! The new dealer told me that my tires were set to 42-43 psi, rather than the 34 called for on my car. This is actually dangerous. I will definitely not go back here. read more

I had been to other dealerships days before and they made me the same promises as laurel KIA. However that was not the experience I had. They did exactly what they said they would do. I am on a 2015 optima which I love. Mind you based upon our numerous conversations they listened to my wants and needs and the consultant who was the bomb.com selected the same care I wanted for myself my car was cleaned all my questions were answered. I left feeling like I wasn't being robbed. I can become very impatient and they had me in and out literally within the hour. It was nothing but straight talk. If you are looking for an awesome customer service experience great service and people who listen to your needs and not sell u a car and toss u aside. This is the place. My wife and I bought our first Kia and it had been a few years since we had been at a dealership to buy a car. The last few times, it seemed to be an all day event and this time around, we had done most of the research ahead of time, so it was simply a matter of test driving the car to confirm all the high ratings from Consumer Reports were true. Not only were they true, but the time it took to close the deal after saying yes was about as quick an experience as one could hope for. Had I not gotten a call from my nephew and spoke to him for 20 minutes while at the dealership, the total time to buy would have been about the time it takes to get a Dominoes pizza. Unbelievable. The entire staff at Laurel Kia was engaging and friendly and our salesman, Pierce York, was profoundly knowledgeable about the car we had chosen, which largely contributed to the entire process being so quick and efficient. He knew all the answers to our questions which gave us a tremendous amount of confidence when we were buying the car. Pierce was a pleasure to work for and would be someone my wife and I would go back to in a heartbeat the next time we're looking for a car. This time around, we were directed to Kia because we knew the car we wanted. Next time, we'll go to Kia, simply because of Pierce and the confidence we have in him.
