Love the Italian beef and gyros! I haven't had anything else. The fries sometimes could use more salt some times so maybe ask for some if you enjoy salted fries!

As far as I am concerned King Gyro is an Anderson landmark. I have been coming here for years and I have always gotten the gyro which every time has been wonderful. I have been here for my wedding anniversary, another time for a father's day supper. This place is like part of my family. For the first time I decided to try something different and went with the Italian beef sub. This thing was heavenly. Thinly sliced beef, a lightly spicy giardiniera and a touch of red sauce all wrapped up in a hoagie style roll = A masterpiece. The menu has something for every ranging from coney dogs, fish, burgers, ribs, you name it. Prices are more than fair and the employees are always super polite. The main reason for my review today was because of the Italian beef sub and how the gentleman working helped inform me of how the sub was prepared and to make sure I would enjoy all of the toppings. He even came to my table after I was done and asked me how I like it. This place is nothing fancy but what it lacks in appearance it makes up 10x in food. See ya soon King Gyro!

Nowadays if you get the hankering for a Gyro with the meat crved from a flame fired spit, you have to go to Anderson to get one. This is a fine place for one, and if your honey isn't in the mood for gyro, they have one of the most extensive fast food menus around. The serving sizes are large, and there is no reason to go away hungry. One gyro meal is usually enough to satisfy two of us. They will make the sandwich with onions and or the sauce on the side, and I usually get them both on the side. That way I don't have a soggy half sandwich I am taking home, and I have literally had enough onions to take home to make french onion soup.

Chicken gyros plate w/o onions. Regularly comes with a few slices of white onion. Only comes with 1 pita, order extra

The gyros are great and everything is cooked to order. Prices are decent and it doesn't take long to get your food.

Greek Islands is one of those restaurants that is a cornerstone of local business in Indianapolis…read more Our family has been celebrating important events there for over 30 years. The service, the atmosphere, and the food are exceptional every time.

We're always looking for good Greek food in Indianapolis and noticed this spot while eating…read moresomewhere nearby, so we decided to make a trip back downtown for it at a later time. Located in a cute blue house, this is conveniently located near Lucas Oil Stadium and there was a huge concert going on the night we were there, but we were still allowed to park in their parking area. Inside has nice lighting and is pretty plain but has a homey feel. The menu contains many items we're familiar with having visited Greece twice. So I'm going to be a little critical here with my review of the food. I ordered the Greek Spaghetti, which I have had in Greece. Unfortunately this was not at all what I was expecting or anything like Greek spaghetti. What I was served was basically Prego spaghetti sauce with pieces of gyro in it. Traditional Greek spaghetti (or Makaronia me Kima) is a wonderful sauce that's seasoned with all kinds of memorable spices. It's definitely not pieces of gyro meat thrown in a sauce. So while this was fine, it was not what I truly wanted or thought I was getting so I was pretty disappointed. My husband got the chicken souvlaki and that was better but still not quite like what I remember. The meat was almost smoked and lacked some of the Greek spices that gives it a distinct taste. And the tzatziki...well, let's just say it tastes like whipped feta and was lacking in flavor too. I did enjoy the pita bread. Our service was underwhelming as well. It took a while for anyone to notice we were there and needed to be seated and the server basically did the bare minimum, never even asking if we wanted our water refilled. Overall, it was fine. If I had never been to Greece, I may have a different opinion but this isn't someplace I really want to go back to.

Then we waited to be noticed by the wait staff. And we waited, and waited. It took 17 minutes before anyone came to our table. We would have left but we had a $50 gift certificate to use. Finally someone came over. We ordered teas & an appetizer of flaming saganaki. We found it very tasty. For entered I ordered the Greek meatball sandwich. My wife got a cup of egg lemon bowl ( which is a soup she loves) & Keftethes ( with beef meatballs). I found the fries god & the meatballs & bread decent but the sauce was a little off to me which greatly reduced my enjoyment. It was just ok. My wife thought the soup was a bit thin but overall god with a strong lemon flavor. Her entree the meatballs were good, the green beans were cold & the roasted potatoes were decent. Overall she was meh. We ordered desserts to go. Baklava, Galaktoboureko ( custard in philo dough) & Oreo cake. Wife thought the baklava had an overpowering cinnamon taste which hurt it. The Galaktoboureko was basically sugar cream pie with philo crust. I thought it was ok but wife thought it should have been thinner. She also believes the to go containers aren't sufficient for these desserts due to the sugar syrup. The "Oreo cake" had one cookie to the side & was dry. When we gave the waitress our gift certificate she said they would take that off when they rang up the bill. She came back & the gift certificates were not taken off. I pointed this out to her & she went back to talk to whoever is running the register. When she came back she said she has no idea what's going on but they gave me a $50 bill to credit the $50 in gift certificates. My amazing wife surmised that they credited someone else's bill & gave us the $50 to make it right for us. Bottom line is all the staff we interacted with were friendly but the restaurant is very disorganized. Food was just ok. Can't say we were impressed.
