We are both so happy to have "Sovlakl" Gyros back! What better than a gyro platter? A wonderfully fresh one in Anderson! We had an appointment in the afternoon and both of us got plenty tired from the wait and the long appointment so, once we got back in the car, my wife( the blond bombshell) asked me if we could just grab a sandwich on the way home! I. Ask her if she might like to try "King Gyro"as they have a drive through. And she said for sure!!! With that said, we agreed to try it and if it wasn't great we would understand it's not the. Big city! Oh I can say is they did a beautiful job with the Gyro and their sauce too! They had a interesting presentation and that was a great deal of sliced onions quite delicious and sliced fresh tomato bricks of feta cheese made is excited because, I am not a fan of feta cheese karma! But, my sweetheart is! It made sharing this easy for me is it works but we have to discuss about King Gyros is there a pita bread!!! The pita bread they serve us was absolutely off the hook! I'm so glad I ordered an extra one for myself :-) I could not believe that this bread was there for us in Anderson Indiana. I encourage anyone that loves Gyro or souvlaki to try the king Gyro platter. There's no salad, but all of the ingredients for a delicious Gyro are there for you and definitely extra sauce, Extra pita! Both of which are really super reasonable. We recommend you get over there and get yourself one or 5! King gyros also has an extensive menu from fish sandwiches both perch and catfish are available huge portions excellent amounts of everything the American hamburger cheeseburger combos are there they call Italian beef which is actually beef with peppers in a foot-long bun. Large chili cheese fries fried mushrooms which are super crispy and amazingly hot when you order them. Since we were in the drive-through, and it's not that big of a place to have a fancy menu out there I recommend you refer to their yelp photos and I 'll try to stop by one day to get a picture of thatAbsolutely huge menu!. In summary, excellent food excellent prices and our first attempt to order was five stars! I love Gyro's and this is the place! The gyro plate is the best, if yo uorder another pita and fry it would easily feed two . Parking is a little shy and not marked well. They have a drive thru. As far as I am concerned King Gyro is an Anderson landmark. I have been coming here for years and I have always gotten the gyro which every time has been wonderful. I have been here for my wedding anniversary, another time for a father's day supper. This place is like part of my family. For the first time I decided to try something different and went with the Italian beef sub. This thing was heavenly. Thinly sliced beef, a lightly spicy giardiniera and a touch of red sauce all wrapped up in a hoagie style roll = A masterpiece. The menu has something for every ranging from coney dogs, fish, burgers, ribs, you name it. Prices are more than fair and the employees are always super polite. The main reason for my review today was because of the Italian beef sub and how the gentleman working helped inform me of how the sub was prepared and to make sure I would enjoy all of the toppings. He even came to my table after I was done and asked me how I like it. This place is nothing fancy but what it lacks in appearance it makes up 10x in food. See ya soon King Gyro! read more

One of my favorite places to eat in Anderson. Given the decor and everything seems outdated, it is truly good. Kind Gyros does like to use a lot of onions on their items (gyros, Greek salad, burgers, etc.) so I would say if you aren't an onion fan, ask for lite onion or none. If you get the gyro platter, recommend extra pita bread since it only comes with one and there's plenty of toppings that come with. Platters are HUGE. The service is always fast and never have to wait long even in the drive thru. And nearly everything is made when ordered. Fried foods are just frozen and fried but still good. Portions are generous for the price. I highly recommend this place. read more

Nowadays if you get the hankering for a Gyro with the meat crved from a flame fired spit, you have to go to Anderson to get one. This is a fine place for one, and if your honey isn't in the mood for gyro, they have one of the most extensive fast food menus around. The serving sizes are large, and there is no reason to go away hungry. One gyro meal is usually enough to satisfy two of us. They will make the sandwich with onions and or the sauce on the side, and I usually get them both on the side. That way I don't have a soggy half sandwich I am taking home, and I have literally had enough onions to take home to make french onion soup. read more

King Gyro is a diamond in the rough. You will be thrown off by the "decor" or lack there of, but they really do have good food. The menu is pretty eclectic with mostly Mediterranean and American food. Only place I know where I can order a chili cheese dog and baklava. I decided on the gyro plate somehow thinking that was the combo meal for the sandwich. It is a plate full of gyro meat and veggies with pita bread and fries on the side. It comes with "special sauce" aka tzatziki on the side. It was pretty decent and tasted good on my fries. Their staff is super nice and willing to answer any questions you have about the menu. The Gyros are very good except they use too many onions. Mine had just one slice of tomato cut in half. There is no accurate online menu either. I had to call and ask for everything. The lady said "we are a Greek restaurant" over and over. I may or may not return, prices seem ok for quality. But customer service was bad. read more

The gyros are nothing extraordinary. I have had a number of gourmet gyros across the country. But my personal preference are these. They have a nice taste and the consistency is perfect. Sometimes basic is better. The baklava is yummy. (Another great place for baklava is Nick's in Rockford, IL.). A great surprise is the parking lot/drive has been repaired. This place is probably the most redeeming element in Anderson, IN. The food is super yummy. My favorite is having them make a half lamb half chicken gyro with feta and a side of fries. The portions are very generous. The gyro takes up a whole plate and the fries take up another plate. Basically for $7 you get two plates of food. This is a small restaurant in a former fast-food building. The menu includes gyros, sausages, and burgers. The gyros are generous--the other half and I can split a gyro and fries and be well-fed--and have a fair amount of tomato and onion in with the gyro meat and tzatziki sauce. The fries are generally fresh out of the fryer, and the homemade baklava is divine. We don't eat in because they allow smoking, but it's some of our favourite take-out in Anderson. read more

After eating here for the last 10 years I was told to take my business elsewhere because I do not want to pay for condiments. The owner is getting ready to move back to Greece so he no longer cares about his customers. They haven't had a toilet seat on the toilet in two months and the cashier was more interested in flirting with the guy ahead of me instead of taking my order. They actually threw my order in the trash when I refused to pay for mayonnaise on my sandwich and told me I was losing out. I asked them if it was worth it losing a long term customer over $.35 cents. They told me I would be losing out. I told them I can still spend my money elsewhere and eat. They however cannot regain any good will. On the way out I told two older gentlemen how they treated me. They both said they would never eat there again either, turned around, and got back in their cars. Since then I have spoken to 6 other regular customers of theirs and they all said the would not eat there again either. Hope you enjoyed saving that 35 cents for a knife full of mayo.
