I was pretty disappointed by my visit here. I thought a buffet would be my ultimate diet cheat meal and I was kicking myself for choosing the wrong restaurant. The sushi rolls were average but everything else fell short and was very below average even for a buffet. read more

I wish I can leave negative stars. This is the most nasty and disgusting restaurant I've ever been in. First they took us to a dirty table and i had to ask them to clean it, our waitress then cleaned the table with a dry paper napkin. We went to grab food and everything was old and disgusting. We sat down with our food and took a few bites. It was so nasty that I told my family to stop eating and we got up and left. We spent over $70 on nasty old food and I was so disgusted that I didn't even bother to ask for my money back. I just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible. Horrible! Food was poor quality. Nothing was at the correct temp. Sushi was warm, kimchi, seafood salad and cooked shrimp were rotting. The only thing I could eat were the cherry tomatoes and seaweed salad. After trying those few items, I didn't feel safe trying any of the others. Such a shame, they used to be good. Save your money and your tummy, go elsewhere. read more

Their fried chicken is surprisingly well seasoned and good. The Chinese food varies but is overall ok. The fresh fruit and salad bar are amazing. I enjoyed their hot & sour soup. The place has a Mongolian grill section which is great. The sushi is definitely better at dinner time than at lunch. The real star of the show are the fried soft shell crab and the snow crab. The fried crab has a delightfully light batter. They are fried long enough to make the crab meat creamy and melt in your mouth dreamy! The snow crab has a great flavor to them. Unlike some lesser buffets in the area (I'm looking at you Asian Star Buffet), this place is not stingy with replenishing everything on their menu including the crab offerings. The staff is polite and responsive. The restrooms are clean. All and all I paid between $12 - $16 and some change depending on if it was lunch or dinner. read more

This used to be a awesome place to eat. On Fridays they have all you can eat crab legs. What they don't tell you is, to get any, you line up like a ride at Six Flags. They try to dissuade you from the crab legs by not bringing them out fast enough. They bring a small bowl every 5 to 10 minutes. That wasn't so bad when the other food was good. Everything else tasted bland and cold. All this for the low price of 17.99 a head. I think I'm done with this place. Next time I'll go get a steak for a bit more. Don't waste your time here. You'll definitely wish you'd just went somewhere else. read more

Right off the bat, they asked us for drinks and we had 2 waters and one Sierra Mist. She scoffed at the face we got waters, and this was the bill. $55. The ambiance was absolute garbage. This place was dark and dingy. The food, 1st plate I went safe with some chicken nuggets they were okay. My second plate I got some crab legs and some ribs the ribs are not even seasoned just barbecue sauce. They were burnt. I don't mean a good char this was a burn. The crab leg was so hard and stale it was just salt crusted beyond garbage. I still tried to get some of the meat out when I did it was bland and just garbage. For my 3rd plate I got some banana pudding and some pizza. That was the only plate that was good some premade frozen pizza and some banana pudding. My final plate was just fruit, I thought "hey how could they mess up fruit". Oh believe me it's possible. My pineapple was white, my orange had a hole in the back that looked like someone stabbed it with a nail. My bananas looked like they had veins. Just look at the photos for yourself. I really enjoy eating here, although one time 6 years ago I went to meet up with my friend here. My friend got there before me and downed 2 plates in 5 minutes. The staff then asked him to leave and when I got there is when he got kicked out. Yummy place but it's not all you can eat if you're fat. read more

Do not come to this restaurant, the food is horrible, the cooks (hibachi chef) are uncooperative, I want my tip back. $20. For the buffet is way overpriced!! I would not give $7.00 as most of the food is all dried up from sitting there. Save your money and time, don't come here read more

This food is really bad . It's bland . Has no taste . Some food items are very greasy .. talk about cross contamination!! There mixing old food with new food then using utensils to put raw product to cook with at the hibachi grill area . You are not only required to wear a mask but you also have to wear a glove .. some food are dry and have no taste .. he or is hard .. and the tea taste like they haven't cleaned the tea machine in months. This place has to be the most nastiest place I've been too .. also because of how bad the food is you are required to pay before you can be seated ! DONT EAT HERE!! TRIED TO RIP ME OFF , RUDE, POOR SERVICE , MEDIOCRE FOOD I usually take restaurants with a grain of salt because I understand there can be mistakes, but I don't want anyone else to go through this on a nice Sunday afternoon when you're spending time with your kid. This doesn't allow me to leave it without any stars. A couple of weeks ago my son, and I went and ate here. My son went with his mom there and liked it so I took him. I ordered a plate and the menu that they had sitting by the register said it came with the main portion, fried rice , and an eggroll. It was on a Sunday and I was OK with that for lunch. My son wanted the buffet and he's nine years old. The guy at the register who is the manager, asked us his age and we both said his age; 9. So my son ordered the buffet and it was nine dollars for him instead of $15 for an adult. Mind you, my lunch plate was six dollars. So he rang us up for $19 and change. I asked him how much did you charge for my son because you just told me his was nine dollars; $15 and change total. I asked him if the tax was four dollars? He said no I charged him regular. I asked him you just asked me his age and told me it was nine dollars for him to eat. So he reached back into the register and gave me my change back. I really should've walked out of there. I told him is this what you do to people? And he didn't answer. My son was standing right there and I told him this is why you always watch your money. We come to eat here and they try and take money from us. My son went and got his food from the buffet and they brought me my plate and it only had the fried rice and main portion of chicken which I ordered and I said where is the eggroll and the waitress said you need to go talk to the manager. I said this isn't my job I came to eat and I'm having a fight with you guys to get service not overcharge me and to sort out why didn't get served the correct portion. She went and called the manager, and the same guy who overcharged me came over and I told him I was missing the eggroll. He said oh that's the old menu. It doesn't come with the eggroll. I said the menu is right by the register where I paid you. I told him you should've change the menu or removed it. He started arguing with me and I just told him just refund me my money and he went back and got what I thought was going to be an eggroll, it was a spring roll. I let my son finish eating and we left, and I said we're never coming back here again as I walked out, and I told the other patrons who were in line to pay to make sure he wasn't overcharging them like he tried to do with me and my son. read more

Comments are most welcome and appreciated I've eaten at a lot of Buffets over the years and some are really good some are really bad and there are some that find a spot in between but King Buffet Deserves a category all its own in a good way a really really good way. I realize that everybody has their preferences for buffets and stand by their favorites but as of the date and time of this review King Buffet is Not only my favorite Chinese buffet but Buffet in general. They serve over 200 items on their buffet and I have tried them all. The three things that stand out most about King Buffet for me making it my favorite in order are 1. they serve seaweed salad on the buffet at dinner time and it may be a weekend thing but in any case no other Buffet does that at least none that I have been to. 2. they manage to keep everything fresh, the fact that they're extremely busy probably helps with this fact but the fact remains the same everything is extremely fresh on King Buffet's Buffet. And 3. there Mongolian Grill is better than most, I have been into some restaurants that specialized or specifically serve Mongolian Grill and this Buffet beats most of them without even being their main focus. why five stars and not JLFoodie Certified: Straight up just haven't eaten there enough I'll need to dine there at least one to two more times before I can acknowledge them as JLFoodie Certified but don't be surprised if I update this review soon doing just that. Don't eat here if you have children because apparently for a 3 year old that eats 5 bites they justify charging you for a full adult price. I don't mind paying for a child, but $13 at that? For a 3 year old? We won't be back. And neither will our large group of close contacts. read more

Family of 4, son loves the crawfish, daughter loves the crab legs, hubby loves the chicken on a stick, I like all the crunchy stuff. Sushi is hit or miss. My biggest reason for writing this review is to WARN people to BE AWARE that nobody is taking pictures of the computer screen or your credit card, etc. We don't know for sure, but front desk person took a picture of the screen when he paid and that same night and next morning his account was hacked $$$ read more

This place has a huge selection of oriental and American food. Food is fresh and hot in my opinion. I had my fav Chinese food selections, seafood, and meats in my plate. The best feature about this place is the wide variety of different foods it offer guests. The selections goes on and on. Even if I would take 1 piece of food of each selection I would not be able to eat all of it. You will definitely find something that you like here. See my pictures. These selections are at lunch. I am not sure what I expected but this is not what I wanted. This place is too crowded. The food was ok and the service was par. When I first saw the name "King Buffet" I thought this was going to be the buffet of all buffets. This is just a normal buffet in a bigger building with too many tables and chairs. It was hard for me to find something to eat. You read that correctly. I was at a buffet and the food did not look appetizing. I had one plate of food and that was enough for me. I was not a fan of the quality of the food. I love buffets but I probably won't return to this one. read more

What an sorry excuse for a place to eat. I surprise that this place is still in business. The only reason why is probably due to the location. The restaurant is near a highway that's connected to San Antonio airport so that highway is used a lot by the tourist. If this restaurant was located anywhere else eventually you will start seeing the business fading away. The food is worst than mediocre. Half of the food is not fresh or checked upon. I think my leftovers in my refrigerator is a better quality. You have to wait till you are dehydrated before you get a refill. They rather be on their phones instead of caring for the customers. read more

Just average but nothing extra ordinary. Servers and staffs were friendly. Food is okay and have usual Chinese buffet setup. Recommend their fried shrimp and cheese crab. The area we sat had a bad odor and the ac was not working (probably) because it felt hot. If you want to use 10%off coupon of yelp, you have to print. They don't accept any coupon through cell phone. read more

Balance, freshness, attention to detail. This one delivered. Clean, refreshing, exactly what you want. Added some chicken skewers for good measure. Bit of char, bit of heat, keeps things grounded. Regardless, if he crawled up from the floor or fell from the ceiling or was actually in the sushi, IT WAS DISGUSTING. There was a bug on my plate of food. I killed it with my napkin and showed one of the waiters. He took the plate of food and offered to remake it. I appreciate the thought, but I was feeling sick to my stomach thinking that roach was crawling around food I ate. My husband and I let him know we didn't actually want to stay. We barely got to eat half of the food we ordered. I started inspecting the other dishes and noticed a hair on the seaweed salad. Overall just questioning the cleanliness here. The waitress finally comes by with the check -- for the full amount-- and a $20 gift card for next time. I let her know I have no plans to return and to please apply that credit to the purchase. I think it's absurd they thought it was right to charge us the full amount when we clearly didn't get to finish our food. A roach ended up on my plate of food at your establishment. It's disgusting and I don't know who in their right mind would think someone plans on returning to a place they had such a bad experience at. I know things happen, but I'm truly more disappointed with their response than the roach itself. At no point did a manager/ owner come by to apologize. And charging someone full price for food they couldn't even eat seems like bad form. I wasn't going to sit there and argue or make a scene, so we paid the bill and left. I can safely say I have no plans to ever return to Izumi.
