    Buffet area hibachi line
    Alex N.

We stopped by here during a San Antonio trip after looking for some high rated Chinese buffets in the area. The food was actually very good for what I usually call a "generic Chinese buffet". I would've probably given 5 stars if it wasn't for one thing that turned me off: they have signs at every table offering discounts for good reviews. I don't want to be bribed for my review, and it probably led to some inflation in their high google score too. That being said, the service was fine, and the interior was spacious and fancy for a Chinese buffet. They had a hibachi station as well which always earns bonus points from me. They also had a dim sum line in the back, but it was almost all empty and didn't get refilled while we were there. The fare is what you would expect for a Chinese buffet, all the classics like lo mein and general tso's chicken that every place has. While it wasn't mind-blowing quality, it was above the bar for all you can eat, beating out most Chinese buffets I've tried.

A surprisingly good experience. I am often a bit skeptical of buffets but this one was amazing. The food variety is spectacular. They had a large selection of fried items, standard Chinese foods, dumplings, dim sum, fresh sushi, sweets, and even a ramen bar. Everything was very flavorful and fresh. I noticed the food trays were being consistently rotated and refilled with fresh food. The sushi was surprisingly good quality and very fresh for being in a buffet. The sushi selection was refilled multiple times. If an option you wanted is empty, just wait a few minutes and the quick sushi chefs would have it refilled. The crawfish was especially good! The sauce they were in was so flavorful and delicious. On our Labor Day visit, we had the pleasant surprise of all you can eat crab legs! For the amount of different dishes and seafood, for $18.99, this place is an incredible deal. King Buffet is very modern and luxe in design. Everything is very clean and organized. None of the food in one tray was contaminating or spilling over into the trays next to them. I appreciate that throughout the buffet line, they provided extra utensils, plastic gloves, sauces, and small cups for the sauces. It made the experience feel much more organized and definitely cleaner. Our waitress was very kind and quick. Refills were frequent and our plates were cleared as soon as we were finished with them. I definitely recommend King Buffet!

Decided to try Kings Buffet since it's closer to us. From outside I really did not expect what it looked like inside. The interior is beautiful, bright, very chic.. honestly one of the prettiest restaurants I've ever seen. Not just that but clean. There were workers walking around constantly cleaning, wiping near the Buffett areas, sweeping... very well kept. Great variety of food. Sushi, dim sum, salad bar, soups, fried food, cocktail shrimp, hibachi, even an ice cream machine. Lunch is 13.99$ for adults during lunch. Excellent price. I am more of a seafood person so I did miss the hot Cajun peel and eat shrimp I normally get at the other Buffett we go too... but I didn't have lack of choices. We will definitely be returning!

Probably my fave buffet so far. Super cheap, lots of food selection and really great that they have huge selection of asian dishes. They could probably make the crab leg station have more heat. I probably just don't like that servers are often quick to take out plates, and felt like they were rushing me a bit. But still, love this place overall. Ambiance is good, the decor is updated. Feels like it's new or perhaps renovated.

Celebrating Dad for Father's Day eating what he loves: Buffet! My friend, Bernice, told me about @kingbuffet.sa as it's fairly new. Bella was the one who attended to us, making sure our drinks were filled and plates cleared. There was so much variety of food here to choose from. The one thing my husband didn't get to try was the Mongolian BBQ. I'm not sure if I might have missed their ice cream. The only thing I saw was the soft serve machine. For Father's Day, they had special pricing of $19.99 for adults and 10% off seniors. Normal weekend prices are $18.99. We made it before the mad rush. The waiting area was full when we left. Definitely a popular spot to celebrate Dad!

I'll start by saying the restaurant did refund one buffet (not including taxes or the drink). My wife and I ate here and overall, the food was okay, but on my last plate I noticed something that looked like a worm in my beef and broccoli. After taking a closer look, it appeared to be some type of insect, possibly a larva. I brought it to the staff's attention and the manager addressed it, but it was still an unpleasant experience. Situations like that make it difficult to feel comfortable eating there again, so I don't think I'll be returning.

You need to keep the foods on the buffet hotter. As soon as you fill your plate, get to your table, the food is cold. This was the worst buffet meal I've ever eaten. I will not be returning. RECOMMEDATION: Go if you want to!

Amazing beautiful buffet place! It was big, clean and many food options. The price was right! I will definitely return. I am usually not a buffet person but I was recommended to this place. It did not disappoint. The place was beautiful and the sections was very good. I was on a diet so I stuck with veggies and sushi. The selection was very nice they even have a hibachi bar! I also had some dumpling soup and wongtons because how could I pass it up. I didn't even look at the desert options since I am on a diet. I will definitely be back!

I've been seeing lots of ads for this place so we decided to try it out. The ambiance was very cool. The food was fresh but for a buffet of this size it didn't seem like a lot of options.. The servers came around regularly to clear the plates and fill up the drinks. Overall it was good.

This was a great experience. What a very organized and bountiful buffet ! You arrive, check in, and they give you a number and you sit waiting for a booth or table to open. Then they call your number, guide you to your table, take your drink order and : Go! They have islands organized with the different types of cuisines, far back they have some dim sun, up front the sushi, to the front and right the Mongolian bbq where you choose your meats etc, there a table of desserts, fruits, fried foods, seafoods, there's crab legs, there's everything! The drinks are brought to your table and every time a plate is left to the side it is promptly picked up leaving your space free to reload from the bountiful buffet. Food wise the food was of good quality, it is a buffet, but I felt everything was tasty and fresh. There's so many people that I don't see how it would not be fresh!! And the price is good: you can see many people just going for the shrimp and crab legs and done! lol. We had a sushi craving, and I particularly liked that the rolls were small, so we could taste more, and actually there was a nice variety there! So overall an excellent experience for a Chinese Buffet! They also had an option "To-Go" by the pound that I thought could be interesting to some, have not tried to weight my food yet... but it's there if you need it ;) Enjoy!

I wish I had taken pictures because the food here was actually way better than I expected from a cheap buffet. I was pleasantly surprised by everything because I was just wanting some cheap variety and was okay with mediocre flavors. The stir fried noodles were perfectly seasoned and not too salty. They are generous with fillings for their food and sushi also wasn't too bad. The best part though was the crawfish. Their crawfish had garlic butter seasoning which is different than the usual cajun boil style. It had a hint of sweetness (tasted like honey more than sugar) and the classic orange taste to it. There were boiled potatoes, mussels, corn, sausage, etc. mixed into the crawfish and it soaked the flavor nicely. The place was bright, spacious and even though there was a lot of tables, the servers were on top of it. Bringing out our check as soon as we were eating dessert without us needing to ask. Definitely would return.

It's a little expensive, even for a weekend. You would expect more and better choices for the prices we paid. About $80 for two adults and a midget. They had your typical fare. The least favs-ribs(tough/dry and no flavor), steak(tough and under seasoned), steam buns(the filling just no), bourbon chicken(dry chicken and not enough sauce), and the consensus least fav were all the desserts. There was flying bugs, and everything was super dry and tasted old. I get it, what do expect for a Chinese buffet in San Antonio? Well I expect no flying insects in the desserts for the price I paid. Also, 75 % of the fruit we got was as tough as the steak. Oh, and the cold shrimp, either overcooked or thawed the wrong way. The shell was practically glued on. The positives-all the rice and noodle dishes were good to ok. The hot and sour soup was really good! The teriyaki chicken was actually good. The bigger sauced rib was good. The kimchi was some of the better we've had recently. The spring rolls with peanut were good. The two fish dishes we had(fried and not fried) were actually quite nice. All the breads were good. The waitress was very nice and attentive. Almost forgot, the bathrooms were kinda gross. They need to be kept clean. Will not come back again.

The buffet options are good, but their general tso's chicken is not the best (and I judge how good overall Chinese buffets on this lol). A surprise hit is the sautéed green beans, which are perfectly cooked and garlicky--just like how you'd find it traditionally cooked in Chinese cuisine. I also think they're deep fried (salt and pepper?) shrimp (next to the crawfish) is very delicious. Plates are cleared pretty quickly and the buffet space is kept orderly and decently clean.

Just you, the menu, and a quiet understanding that nobody is leaving early. Brought Jimmy "The Hammer" along for this one. A dangerous man in this setting. His only complaint before we even sat down was that it wasn't all you can drink. Fair concern. Thirty dollars for the dinner menu. Fair play. That is about standard across the city. The real question is whether you can actually make it worth it. I started strong. Ten salmon nigiri. Ten tuna. Four shrimp. A couple white tuna. A couple yellowtail. Across the table, Jimmy didn't say much. Just kept eating. That's usually how you know things are going well. At some point it stops feeling like dinner and starts feeling like a bit of a challenge. You settle into it. Find your rhythm. No wasted movement. Then came the rainbow rolls. Two of them. Always my test. You can tell everything you need to know about a sushi spot from that one roll. Balance, freshness, attention to detail. This one delivered. Clean, refreshing, exactly what you want. Added some chicken skewers for good measure. Bit of char, bit of heat, keeps things grounded. Place was packed. Not chaotic, just busy in the right way. Staff stayed on top of it. Plates moving, orders landing, no one left waiting. By the end of it, I leaned back and took stock. Full. Satisfied. No regrets. Five stars.

Almost halfway into my meal, I go to grab another piece of sushi when I see a small ROACH on the plate. Now to be fair I didn't see the roach crawl out of a sushi roll, so not sure how he ended up on the plate. Regardless, if he crawled up from the floor or fell from the ceiling or was actually in the sushi, IT WAS DISGUSTING. There was a bug on my plate of food. I killed it with my napkin and showed one of the waiters. He took the plate of food and offered to remake it. I appreciate the thought, but I was feeling sick to my stomach thinking that roach was crawling around food I ate. My husband and I let him know we didn't actually want to stay. We barely got to eat half of the food we ordered. I started inspecting the other dishes and noticed a hair on the seaweed salad. Overall just questioning the cleanliness here. The waitress finally comes by with the check -- for the full amount-- and a $20 gift card for next time. I let her know I have no plans to return and to please apply that credit to the purchase. I think it's absurd they thought it was right to charge us the full amount when we clearly didn't get to finish our food. A roach ended up on my plate of food at your establishment. It's disgusting and I don't know who in their right mind would think someone plans on returning to a place they had such a bad experience at. I know things happen, but I'm truly more disappointed with their response than the roach itself. At no point did a manager/ owner come by to apologize. And charging someone full price for food they couldn't even eat seems like bad form. I wasn't going to sit there and argue or make a scene, so we paid the bill and left. I can safely say I have no plans to ever return to Izumi.
