I've been here a few times now and have been very happy with most anything we have ordered. The prices are very reasonable if you get a combo which includes 2 or 3 baos and a drink. We've really enjoyed the curry, firecracker shrimp, Cuban and hoisin rib. Recently tried lobster roll and it was worth the added price! Didn't love the non curry chicken - kinda bland. Place is small but they have a bar on the side wall to sit at to fit more people. You order from a screen, and there's limited options for drinks. Solid baos with Asian fusion and other global takes in the beloved baos that are often traditionally eaten with duck. We tried the Hogzilla, Glen Rhee, Firecracker Shrimp, and Cuban - we did a 3 bao combo for $15 and an à la carte bao for $5.50. The combo is a no brainer if you want a satisfying meal for 1 or a snack for 2, since it comes with a fountain drink while the baos are discounted 50 cents each. As we were a party of 2 , we went with 4 baos so 2 baos per person and it was a nice snack. The hogzilla is the pork belly which is decent - a bit on the saltier side but all the ingredients meshed well. The Glen Rhee is Korean beef which was a bit dry. Despite glowing reviews, I was a bit disappointed Firecracker shrimp was amazing. 4 pieces in the bao so definitely overflowing with shrimp, and the sauce that comes with it is filling and satisfying Cuban is their seasonal and has pork and chicharron. Everything we tried was delicious. It wasn't too busy when we came in, so there was plenty of seating. I really enjoyed all the napkin art displayed on the napkin dispensers. This place offers a surprising and refreshing assortment of fusion pan-Asian Bao. I had the HoiSin rib bao. It is very much a 'McRib' formed patty- formed in the shape of ribs, tucked in a bao. It was good but I'd have preferred a piece of barbecued rib more than 'patty'. Nevertheless the taste was very good. I just don't prefer mystery meat. I also had the hot chicken bao. My friends and I went to King Bao for dinner and had an interesting experience, one that was a first for me here. There was a visible burnt oil smell in the air which ended up sticking to all our clothes and hair even after we left the smell stayed with us. Additionally, the smell and air was so strong that it was affecting our eyes. We had to leave immediately after eating because our eyes were starting to burn. Everything was reasonably priced and absolutely delicious! I got the combo with two baos and a drink, while my husband opted for the combo with three baos and a drink. Both were super filling and satisfying. The staff were very kind and helpful, and the atmosphere was laid-back with a cool, chill vibe. It feels like the kind of place I'd love to bring friends and hang out for a while. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is because we arrived at opening, and the door wasn't unlocked until five minutes after. I was disappointed from my last visit to King Bao. The guacamole on the firecracker shrimp bao wasn't fresh and the shrimp was lacking flavor. The fried cod was also bland. I've been visiting King Bao for almost 2 years now and it is a staple in the Mills community. It is a great spot if you are in the mood to have multiple flavours, or to share with others. The baos are soft and fluffy, while the ingredients are fresh. I love the Nashville Hot Chicken and Japanese Katsu! Don't forget the tater tots, as they are the best part of the meal! On the other hand, the tofu option was much better. I liked the fry of the tofu, however, the curry sauce on it is a little too strong and covers up the flavor of the bao itself. Service is fine. Came here after seeing everyone raving about this place being cheap eats. It was a quick ordering process, and food was indeed cheap for how much we got. Got the 3 bao combo with Hogzilla, glen rhee and hot chicken + side of kimchi tator tots. All three of the baos were hefty and had really good flavors. The hogzilla had an amazing texture of the pork belly. It was succulent, juicy, and tender, with really nice supporting flavors. The glen rhee was also very good, although we wished there was slightly more of the apple salsa. The hot chicken was decent, but there wasn't a strong enough flavor nor spice. We think the pork and beef were good, with the chicken being our least favorite of the three. The tator tots themselves were pretty good. On par for a really good upscale tator tot texture: crunchy/crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The kimchi topping was good, but I didn't really think there was enough flavor. Every time I'm in the area, I have to stop by for a quick bite. Their baos are small enough for a snack but savory and filling if you take advantage of their 2 or 3 bao combos with a drink. Be aware if you're going on a weekend night; it will be busy, of course, and it may take a while to find parking on the street here. The pork belly and the pickled carrots really add to the overall flavor of the bun, and the pork belly is absolutely mouth-watering and tender in every bite. The Glen Rhee pork was my favorite. Again, like the hogzilla extremely tender, but the flavor was just incredible. I love it when places add cilantro for garnish. I'd never had bao buns before visiting, so when I was in the area my brother told me I had to check this restaurant out. From the outside it doesn't look like much; it's the epitome of a hole-in-the-wall so that got me excited. It was slow when I visited but the tabletops were clean & the food prep area looked pretty neat. The only negative thing I could say about my experience was the lack of customer service when I arrived because I wasn't welcomed by anyone. With that said, the food quality & speed of service definitely helped make up for that. For my choices I got the Kickin' Chicken, Hogzilla & Glen Rhee Bao. I was amazed at how soft the buns were & they all came out super hot. The combination of ingredients really worked with one another, there wasn't a single one that didn't taste delicious. My personal favorite was the Kickin' Chicken. The sriracha aioli & fresh cucumbers gave it a perfect balance of spice & cool. The breading of the fried chicken was light & didn't taste greasy at all. Offering 2 & 3 bun combos that come with a drink, this place gives you a bang for your buck. The buns are stuffed full & everything tasted fresh. The food is well worth 5 stars so I'll definitely come back when I'm in the area, I just hope the employees will be more welcoming. Just pick something and eat it it doesn't matter what you get on this menu. Get the loaded tots. Get some chicken. Get some seafood. It will all be perfectly prepared and perfectly prepared with the right ingredients. To call this amazing and quick and delicious and hot and to get it via delivery, that way, says something about the preparation of the food. It travels well. Order and be amazed if you try to eat, and you will be disappointed as I understand the shop has very little seating.
