I had my first accident in my new car and was so hurt. I looked at a few auto body places but they didn't want to just give me a quote and only wanted to talk to my insurance company. That seemed very odd to me. When I came to Kim's, I got a short quote which was cheaper and took less time than I was quoted from the other auto body shops (when they finally gave me an answer). When I talked to Frank ( who was super cool and professional), he gave me the rundown of how things worked. I was told it would take a week to see an adjuster but it was the following day and my car was in for a week even though I was told it would take about 2 weeks (which I was sad about). You know that saying: "Don't judge a book by it's cover"? Yeah, well it totallly comes into play at this body shop! I know there are other body shops that are fancy, have coffee bars and hot receptionists (I know! I used to work at one in Beverly Hills!!!), but who cares when your car gets what it needs to be restored back into its former glory? Really! I was referred to this place by a friend and am grateful to him for doing so. Located just outside of Koreatown, this establishment is hidden on the northeast corner of Washington Blvd and Kingsley Dr. The auto repair shop named Hi-Tech that it shares its space with kinda casts a shadow over it, but not rightfully so. I had my driver's side keyed by a douchebag and my co-worker backed into me in the parking lot at work. My driver's side window motor also went out and needed to be replaced as well. Driving in LA, my car had its share of door dings, too, which Mr. Kim, owner agreed to take out and take care of as well at no extra charge. The car was supposed to take about 2 weeks and he gave me a call about a week and a half later telling me to pick it up the next day. The ride was back in full effect and my window even rolled down! The little scratches here and there were also taken out or touched up! I would recommend this place to you whether or not you have an insurance claim or are paying out of pocket. The turnaround time here is nothing short of amazing. I brought in my Lexus SC430 because my super low front bumper had been ripped off by a broken curb while parallel parking (*shakes fist at Los Angeles streets). I didn't want to go through insurance because there was no other party involved. I have heard the rumor that most body shops will treat you well if you go through insurance and not so well if you don't. The truth is, they'll get paid more if you go through insurance because they can rack up all sorts of charges by the book. Also, to maximize the payoff they will keep your car forever. Well, with my particular situation, I didn't want to deal with either of these aspects and I crossed my fingers as I called up several body shops to ask when the best time to stop by and get an estimate was. While I was making calls, sometimes being met with rude receptionists or technicians in a hurry, my dad recommended Kim's Auto Center to me as he had previously been rear ended (very badly in fact). He did his research on body shops, and decided to take his Lexus LX470 to Kim's. Granted that was an insurance claim, but regardless he told me the owner was honest, work was solid, and that you sure wouldn't be given the run around here. I trusted my dad's judgment (he hates getting ripped off) and off I took my poor car to Kim's. The owner is a older Korean guy, short stature. He comes and listens to my story of car vs. curb and my woes of needing it done fast because my Christmas vacation is over next week. He tells me what needs to be done to fix it. Turns out the entire bumper needs to be replaced, because it had ripped off at one of the seams. He explains the part would need to be ordered, painted, and installed. Damn, sounds like it could take a week or longer right? WRONG. He goes inside, we talk reasonable numbers, and immediately gets on the phone to order the part. He gets off the phone and tells me my car will be ready by tomorrow. Crazy! That can't be beat. With this type of turnaround one might wonder what the quality of the work is like. Well, next day I come back and there's my car, with its brand new spankin' bumper. The paint job was perfect and installation was seamless, all at a reasonable price. And hark! It is also washed and one of the workers is drying it. I thought only dealers did that! Needless to say, although I hope my car will never need it again, this is my go-to body shop. read more

i went to have cosmetic damages that occurred over a year ago repaired. All electronics were in working condition as far as i know. I use the car everyday for work and personal use. The passenger side sliding door, power locks, and fob were working to my knowledge. After the repair which i agree was job well done for excellent price, the three thing aforementioned stopped working properly. The sliding door would work intermittently and the power locks, including the fob, stopped working altogether. Mr. Kim told me the sliding door mechanism, including the motor, probably needs replacement. He also stated that the power lock mechanism is probably due to the 'disarrayed state of the interior'. He said he is not responsible for the sliding door nor the power lock system malfunction, but would try to fix the power lock mechanism. He flat out said that he will not repair the sliding door. Next day, his employed called me saying that the power lock has been fixed. He said that the sliding door has not been fixed and that the vehicle is ready to be picked up. I went to pick up vehicle following day. The power lock was fully functional. The sliding door was working this time. He didn't repair it. The sliding door system was never the fault. A misdiagnosis on Mr. Kim's part. He didn't have any professional comment on it. We joked about it. A nice gentleman. I would rate the business a semi reliable place. Though, I do think they did a wonderful job on the cosmetic repair. BTW, I have a 2015 Toyota Sienna LE. For reference, the sliding door works in conjunction with the ECU. That's how it know when the car is not in park position. Usually this sliding door issue can be resolve by ECU memory reset. This can be done by leaving the malfunctioning door all the way open. Then, disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery from the vehicle. Finally, reconnect the terminal. USUALLY. Then pray before verifying. read more

They did such a good job you cannot even tell I ever had an issue my car looks brand new. They were fair on the price I checked with many places and they didn't gouge me or ask for too much for what I needed. A bonus I wasn't expecting was my car was detailed inside and out when I picked it up. I had gone camping before so the car and inside/outside had a lot of dirt. I've been here 3 times now and feel compelled to write a review because Mr Kim is so nice, his prices are low, and the quality of work is amazing. You won't get ripped off here! I got into my first ever fender bender so knew nothing about car insurance claims and all that headache. But he walked me through everything I had to do step by step, pros & cons of using my insurance claim vs paying out of pocket, etc. His prices are always lower than quotes I receive elsewhere. On top of that, the work is AMAZING... I wish I had before & after photos, but believe me, my car came back looking brand spanking new every time. He's Korean speaking but his English is fine. A friend who doesn't speak Korean got his car fixed here and got by just fine. Hours are 7am/8am to 5pm Mon to Fri and 8am-11am on Saturdays, or something like that. read more

i'm just shocked. this is just too good to be true. My parents visited this place first to fix their camry which is 10rys old and start to have some problems. The owner looked at it and changed some parts for FREE!! no charge. and when someone keyed my MB CLA 250 i searched auto body shops with good reviews and scheduled an appointment but ended up cancelling due to my schedule. My parents kept asking me to visit this place stating that the owner is very honest and won't try to charge you more like many shops. I trusted my parents judgement but went without too much expectation because my insurance will take care of the charges.
