I've come here on my last 2 trips to Kauai. I live on Oahu where we have all the other Kimchee restaurants so I figured the food would be good & I wasn't wrong. It's close to the airport so the perfect pre-flight meal. If you've been to any of the other ones then you should already know you're not coming here for the ambiance or even good service for that matter. Personally I didn't find a problem with their service like the other reviews but both times I've been here there was maybe only one other table there. The food comes out fast & hot with some sides. The kalbi, meat jun and shrimp tempura are delicious. No complaints and I will definitely be back the next time I'm on Kauai before my flight home.

Absolutely amazing meat jun. Was referred here by the locals for this specifically. They are still take out only, but getting the meat jun plate lunch is worth it. Thier mac salad and kimchee were both excellent.

So small portions on the sides. The lady was rude when I asked for a spoon. She looked grumpy. Expensive! No flavor on the meat Jin. I Use to Pearls Plate lunch Meat Jun

$28 dollars for one piece of kalbi and meat Jun, not worth it. Flavor was okay, meat was tough but literally the smallest baby scoop of sides. Mac salad and cabbage. For the price at least give full scoops.

Best Meat Jun on planet earth. Tofu on the side was such a huge serving I got WAY more food than I expected for such a reasonable price!

Broke da mouth onolicious BEYOND delicious. Thank you for serving the best Meat Jun on planet earth and for being so generous with serving sizes. Reasonable prices for the QUALITY and GENEROUS HUGE PORTION AMOUNT! I got way more food than I expected especially the side of tofu was a huge block for such a low price and it includes delicious salad of bean sprouts with cucumbers carrots and sesame oil dressing. I'm eating here every day of my vacation!

Ok customer service, waited quite a while for our food and it wasn't busy. The server wasn't friendly and the food was ok. I wouldn't come here again and I love Kimchee 1 in Kaneohe.

My husband and I wanted to try new and different foods while in Hawaii, so we sought this place out and were told it was some of the best in the area. The staff was very nice and helped us interpret the menu and decide what to order. We decided on a sampler of sorts, since neither of us had ever tried this kind of food. It was a TON of food. Unfortunately, almost everything that came out was fried or soaked in sauce. I'm not sure if this is reflective of the type of food or just this location, but that is not our style. We left full, but feeling crazy bloated from the heavy food. I don't think we will be trying this type of food again.

The food here is delicious. One of the few spots on the island that offers meat jun. This place is located in the Kukui Grove shopping center (so plenty of parking). The interior is shabby with a bunch of booth tables. I had read the reviews and had been forewarned of the bad service here. We weren't greeted or anything so we seated ourselves. A really nice lady came and brought us menus and ice water (and later plates). We ordered the kalbi (Korean short rib) and meat jun chef's special combo plate and the cold tofu (this one was under the side orders section). The food came out quickly. The cold tofu came out like three minutes after we ordered (but when you think about it - it's uncooked raw tofu and all the veggies on top are already prepared. The tofu was like a cold salad dish, topped with sprouts, cucumber, and carrots, and with some kind of soy sauce dressing. It was really refreshing and tasty. Our combo plate was also delicious. There was a lot of meat jun. The short rib/kalbi was really good too but there was just one rib so the portion of that was small compared to the meat jun. The combo also came with rice and mac salad. The mac salad was meh - just pasta noodles with mayo. There wa san kimchi but that was made with regular cabbage and not napa cabbage and it's not really fermented, so don't expect real kimchi. And don't expect banchan - this is a Korean-Hawaiian restaurant, not a Korean-Korean restaurant. There is warm barley tea that is lovely so that was nice. The lady who brought us our check was unfriendly and i suspect that she's why so many reviews reference bad customer service, because our server was really nice. MEAT JUN!!!!!!

So in looking through Yelp we saw Richie's. Since it is a food truck we were not sure exactly where it was. After reviewing the most recent reviews we saw it was right down the street where we were staying. It was in the area by Haole Girl Island Sweets. Everyone mentioned getting there early as the close once they sellout. They usually have the Huli Huli Chicken on Friday and Saturday but check to see. Quite a few people were already seated at the picnic table when we arrived around 11:30am. We were greeted right away and ordered the half chicken with macaroni salad and a roll. We stood by the grill area looking at all the good food being prepared. Smelled like heaven. When we got our food we were amazed at how much was there. Large portions. They serve it with a pineapple white sauce that is so tasty. The macaroni salad was good as well. Also some white rice on the side. Best chicken we have had in a while. Thanks to Richie! Check you out next time in town. We saw a red food truck so turned into the parking lot. You could smell the bbq cooking.

Talk about the Aloha Spirit!…read more I'm only in town for the day until our ship leaves this afternoon. Walking through the town of Lihue I found this store and wouldn't you know it! They have exactly what I was hoping to find somewhere, Disc Golf equipment! Then I find that the store is closed today! This is a shared operation with a Barbecue business and the other half being Disc Golf. Well, it turns out that staffing issues had occurred and the only one staff member there was running the barbecue. Bummer. The Mrs ended up knocking on the closed doors and the proprietor came to see what she wanted. She explained I was hoping for some discs for my son who is an avid player, and as luck would have it, he stopped cooking long enough to help me purchase a couple of discs! Oh man that was so cool, plus he knew his stuff and helped me pick out two top quality discs. I got two drivers. One initial driver and a custom design fairway driver that they designed! At 171 for their custom disc, and 167 gr. for the other, these two will be seeing some use when we hit the mainland. While we're doing this, ah, the smell of the food started wafting over, but he was not nearly ready yet to start serving. I appreciate so much how this gentleman went out of his way to help a tourist pick out some gifts, when clearly he needed to be in the other side of the business managing his barbecue. Thanks Uncle D's You Rock!

My wife and I were staying very close by, so we made it a point to visit it during our week long stay in Kauai. The concept and beer selection was great, but the food tasted no different from what one would get from a cafeteria. It's important to check their hours when their food is offered, since it differs from their open hours. Currently food hours are 10:30 - 14:30, W-Sa (opening one hour earlier on Saturday). We came on Friday, and walked around the mall until their kitchen opened. It wasn't too busy yet, so was able to order and pay. While waiting, added two cans of alcohol, at which time the food was ready. Brought everything out to the common outdoor tables that can be used for dining. There is a large choice of local beers in cans, and we chose two: Lanikai Brewing Company's Pualani Sour Ale ($6) and Paradise Ciders (Honolulu HI)'s Lei'd Back Lilikoi ($3.50). Both were good, and would absolutely use this store to buy local beers to take back home in the future. Both of us love brisket, so got the brisket sandwich a la carte for $18.99, and added a side of cole slaw ($3) and Mac Salad ($3). It was a medium sandwich to begin with (used a hoagie type soft bun), but with so much bbq sauce mixed with the chopped brisket, it became more of a bbq sauce sandwich. The sauce itself was good, and the chopped brisked seemed OK, but the ratio was way off. The sides were OK with small portions. For $24.99, should have gotten better...even in a tourist area of Hawaii.
