Problems with all three doors purchased. One had a crack at the top and the hole cut into the frame did not line up at all with the door handle. Holes were cut in the doors for the dead bolt but not into the frame. The trim around the wi die on the doors do not match up and need to be hea caulked. We waited for the doors...we waited 3 weeks for someone to come look at the problem and when he arrived he said I don't know what you want me to do. I put a tape on it the frame hole and lock hole at 44 inches from the top.......doesn't explain why we have to hold the door closed with a rope . Total WASTE of money and forget customer service. Basically give us your money we will give you a subpar product and dare you to question us! No thanks I'll go to Habitat for Humanity and find a better product . Save your.money, time and energy . read more

Dealing with Kimal was a very frustrating experience. Don't get me wrong, everyone was nice, but nobody truly listens to the customer. My order for expensive door hardware was never placed until months later. The doors were not pre-hung as requested and had to be taken to the Nokomis facility where it took another 6 weeks. Then, they didn't follow the template instructions we provided. The latch plate was cut with curved corners instead of 90 degree angle, so now the plates don't fit properly. read more

If I could rate with zero stars I would. I am building a house. The builder chose Kimball to install the windows and sliders. The windows are missing the covers to hide the screws. The sliding doors are off about an inch and a half. The workmanship is terrible. The cuts are not lined up properly. They have been paid in full and so now, after reaching out to them many times, they have said they just needed to get it done so they could be paid. They will not return to fix this mess. We have not even moved into the house yet, so it is nothing we did to make it like this. Obviously, they do not care about their workmanship or doing their job correctly. They said they could fix it, but they will charge us another $6,000.00!!! Do NOT get your work done by them, buy from someone who cares. If anyone wants to reach out to me, I will be happy to show you their work. Stay away from this company!! No matter how bad the builder is, the subcontractors should do a professional good job and stand behind their work! read more

Not impressed so far ! Trying to order new exterior doors and the customer service so far has been seriously lacking. The face to face appointment was pleasant and worthwhile. But within a couple of days I knew what I wanted and was ready to order. It took a week of badgering to just get on the calendar to have the doors measured. Now it's been since Aug 22 since they measured so I reached out to see when the doors would be installed. Yep it's Sep 7 and they have NOT even been ordered. Now they have my money - we shall see how long it takes to get them ordered and installed. It should not be this hard or unpleasant to purchase a product from this company. read more

I called before sending my contractor to this Kimal Lumber Company in Nokomis and spoke with Mike who said they would work with my contractor on returning some bad cypress boards. When he arrived there with my receipt and the boards they would not accept the return. He had to spend a half a day driving to another Kimal Lumber Company which helped him with the return. I called the owner and his employee's denied everything and he supported them rather than believe the customer. I would never do business with them again. read more

We have spend over 10K purchasing building materials that could not be purchased at the "big box" stores or materials that would require delivery because of the size of the order. Each time I visited, I had to deal with the 2 "buffoons" at the sales desk. They are lazy, they don't care about the customer, and they attempt to make you feel like you are begging them to sell you their material. We showed one of the buffoons the sample material required (which was purchased there) and he still inputed the wrong order. When the delivery arrived, we, as well as the delivery agent, noticed it was the wrong product. So we went back to the store trying to reorder the correct material. The front office buffoon had the gall to tell us that sample we showed him was an incorrect sample and that he had input the correct product number. In other words, instead of admitting his mistake, he has insulted us by implying that it was OUR mistake. The sample was from HIS warehouse, so how can it be our mistake??? He just did not want to admit he was wrong and worst of all, he directly insulted us. The other buffoon at the sales desk, instead of helping us resolve the new order with the correct part number, pointed to a warehouse and sent us off to look for the product. He, then wanted us to return and inform him of the correct part (molding) number. There is nothing wrong with this but it would definitely have been more helpful if he would just take the extra effort and walk us to the location and show us if this is the correct material or, at least, hand us off to another representative (since he did have a two way radio right at his desk). After wandering all over the yard looking for the material, we found out that the molding was out of stock. Why wouldn't he just input the part number in the computer which will show that there was zero inventory. This is just pure laziness in my opinion. In addition, he told us to call the inventory manager the next day to confirm they had received new inventory before going to him and ordering the material???? Why can't he communicate with the inventory manager directly and call us to let us know that the material had arrived since they are in the same location. This is another sign of pure laziness and lack of customer service. In my 35 years of business practice, we try to make the process of sales order as easy and smoothly for the customers. After several painful visits and resultant confrontations with these lazy men, I have had enough and have decided that I should take my business elsewhere. This is a great business that provides items not found elsewhere and they do provide "free delivery"...IF the front men can get your order correct and be more helpful to the customers. It could be a good business but don't put the weakest link personnel in direct contact with the customer. Both men feed off each other in terms of who can be more lazier, unfriendly, and nonchalant. Truth be told, take your business to a company that believes in customer satisfaction. One star for poor, poor customer service and satisfaction. If they treat male customers this way, I wonder if they would treat a female customer in a similar fashion? read more

Apr2015 - Called Kimal's window and door division about a problem with our front double doors. Got a a same-day response with a request for e-mailed pictures of the problem. There was a next-day response with a scheduled time for technician to appear. Tech arrived 30 minutes early - a welcome event! Repaired the stated problem and refitted the doors as well when he noted a problem with the way they closed [due to age]. Tech was pleasant and very efficient, explaining what he was doing as he went along. This was a 100% pleasant experience. Definitely use this company for any window or door problem. They also will bid for new/replacement instillations. read more
