I moved away from the Tyler area 5 years ago, but when I came back to visit family, and I needed an acrylic fill, mani, pedi, and gel polish for both nails and toes, I was happy that Kim was still available. I was very pleased with their service after 5 years. They did not have gelish which is my color/brand of choice and why they got a 4 rating, but they were able to match my color pretty close. My tech was very good, a young man, very quite. His skills we're very good. The shaping was wonderful. When I come back next year I will make another appointment. I hadn't been in Kim Nails in several years and I decided to try them again. Not a good experience but I thought they deserved a second chance...and a third and a fourth. I think each got worse. Their dip nails couldn't last a week without breaking. Then I realized their tips/fake nails were actually dissolving when in acetone for a few minutes. I'd never had that happen before. Due to social distancing I have had to go much longer than usual between changes (6+ weeks) and not one single nail is chipped or lifting!! This was the worst experience I've had at a nail salon. I called and made an appointment because of the high rated reviews, but I was sadly mistaken. The customer service was awful, Kim made me feel like I was a burden and a waste of time. They asked me to pay $50 for acrylics and nail removal that took 2 hours, even when they couldn't do what I asked. They were referring to me as "California" because of the nail design I wanted and repeatedly laughed and mocked me. If I could leave a 0 star review, I would. I will not come back to this establishment and regret finding it. read more

Always great service here. Kim does great dipped nails and if there is a color she happens to not have, she will acquire it. It's a family business and everyone is very nice and friends. They do not offer drinks but choose to offer better service instead. Manicure comes with neck and back massage and they never rush too much. Acrylic Nails popping off after 5 days. I have photos with time/date details of when taken, but they refuse to re-do for free since I work out of state and cannot get back right away. She said they only gaurantee the work for 48 hours. I chose Kim Nails because of some positive reviews that I read here. Also people said that they had good prices. Unfortunately my experience was not as good. I called first to check on prices, they said Fill and gel is $30. But first he said $40, then changed to $35 as I did not understand how it went up $10 from the quote. Then he reminded me that he put 2 tips on my nails, I said "Oh yea- that is right, but not $10." So I agreed to pay $35. $2.50 per nail tip is too much, but whatever. I still tipped the guy $6.00. BUT the worst part of my experience is that my acrylic nails are coming off! FIVE days after I got them done, the pinky nail just popped off as I was adjusting my belt! There was not any hard pressure on my nails that would've made that happen. It didn't hurt at all when the nails popped off, they just came off. That happened on a Saturday night after the nail place would be closed, so I couldn't call them, AND I'm a Flight Attendant - so I wasn't even in Texas and could not go back any time soon. The next morning ANOTHER nail came off! This time it was the Index finger. So now I'm trying to work flights looking unprofessional with bandaids on my fingers. It has only been one week and a couple of days ago I thought it looks like several other nails might end up coming off. There is a bit of space between the acrylic and my nails. So I called Kim Nails to explain the problem. I also told the lady on the phone that I've been getting my nails done for over 10 years and I have never had a problem like this before. Sometimes I can go for 4 weeks without any nails coming off, in fact it's pretty common. Unfortunately I do not get to a nail salon every 2 weeks, sometimes it's 3 weeks and occasionly 4 weeks. My acrylic nails do not just pop off after 5 days. They may start getting loose AFTER 3 weeks. I've been in customer service for over 35 years, if this happened to one of my customers I would be embarrassed and I would re-do the set for free. read more

I went there for the first time and got acrylic nails as a gift. They looked nice and I wore them for a week and a half and decided to go back to my natural nail. When I went back to get them removed ($5) and get a simple French mani on my natural nails ($20) two days later some of my nails started randomly ripping. Now, I realize acrylics aren't the best for a healthy nail, but the fact that I only wore them for a week and a half and only some of my nails were ripping (and badly, to the skin of my nail bed) leads me to think that maybe the nail technician dremeled way too much of my natural nail off. Now my nails are uneven and one started bleeding after it got snagged and ripped off. I went back to ask for a refund but she refused and instead offered to do more fake nails or repolish them. At this point, they are so damaged and ugly that I probably won't have anyone else touch my nails. I just wish they would have been more careful and attentive and their nail tech would've been better trained. read more
