Since my now-wife is from Scotland, I wished to buy a kilt for our wedding. I had several phone conversations with William who talked me through the whole process and answered the many questions I had as a first-time kilt buyer. He was extremely kind, patient, professional and knowledgeable. Although we never got to meet (my wife collected the kilt in Glasgow), it was an absolute pleasure to work with both William and McCalls of Glasgow and I would highly recommend them.

High quality kilt maker let down by disorganisation, overcharging and an incomplete order. I was…read moregiven a full Kilt voucher by my parents for my 21st birthday, my parents were told I could choose any tartan, any style of shirt, sporran and so on. They paid well over £1000 for this. I went along to make my selections and was told I would need to pay in another couple of hundred pounds as I wanted a sporran not included in the deal, a tie instead of a bow tie and I was sold the service of having the belt buckle and sporran decal to be customised to blend with the kilt colour and style. Initially I did not mind too much about his initial misleading sales pitch to my parents as I thought I would eventually get exactly what I was sold. My order took months, yes months. In fact my order is still not complete and I am now 29. The kiltmaker gave me a second hand, scratched up, rental belt buckle to use and promised that the customised buckle would be eventually delivered. After visiting the store on a weekly, then mothly basis, I realised that this man was not interested in completing the order at all. It may seem unfair to award 1 star due to just the belt buckle but this review reflects the way the kiltmaker overcharged for the exact feature he pitched to me, and then did not deliver. He never once offered a partial refund or even to replace the used buckle for a new one. He never apologised for the delay or for his failure to complete the order. There are plenty of Kilt makers in Scotland, avoid this one.

@ewmonline On June…read more3, 2019. I visited 110 Buchanan St and was fitted for and ordered a Kilt - 375 pounds. I also purchased a Jacket and waistcoat - 429 pounds. I took delivery of both items sometime in July. The kilt didnt fit me, on the tightest buckle, it slipped over my hips. I contacted store, they advised to ship it back and they would refund the shipping and make it right. I shipped it back and it got stuck in customs, only to be returned to me a couple months later. Store advised to ship again, i did. They made a new kilt and shipped it back to me, this one, i cant even tighten up the loosest buckle, its too small. If i suck my belly in, i can tighten it, but it looks terrible. I have been very patient with the store, im missing some of the details here, im just trying to paint a broad picture to start a discussion. I have advised the store that I have no confidence in actually getting a well fitting kilt at this point and would like a refund along with the shipping reimbursement. I also advised them that i have started the process with American Express to get the charges reversed if they dont play ball. This can be easily cancelled. The store has advised me to wait for the charges to be reversed. I've been extremely patient with this whole process, I'm extremely dissapointed right now. I feel like i am getting the run around because i live in the states and cant walk into the shop and raise hell, if i wanted to. I'm looking for somebody to make this right for me at this point and hoping that this customer service option can help. Many Thanks, James Bell

Braveheart was one of my favourite film, its the truth. I was in here wih my boyfriend who had decided to treat himelf to a kilt, which is always nice, good for you! No reason at all, he must have just always wanted one. Well, we were in here and the sales assistants although quite overly friendly, didn't put a foot wrong. Instead they were just amazing at pointing out every single little thing that could possibly be on offer. The selection is vast in terms of kilts and kilt bits and bobs, but they were very very patient and seemed genuinely interested in every aspect of it, just about as much as we were! Isn't that good I thought, till the bill came in. WOW! These things are expensive, just about as much as a suit. Men wear expaensive clothes, was the thing I learnt that day.

When you walk in, you clearly get the vibe that this is a university student's frequent haunt. As we shopped here, students came in and out, receive a discount, and generally have their needs met with the types of clothing available. However, the selection of clothes in the store isn't so student oriented that a wider audience won't be able to find something of interest. The first floor is more women's oriented, with tartan featuring prominently. The second floor is men's, which had some decent selections of Fred Perrys and the like. When we were there, the store was staffed just by a couple girls on the first floor, and they were pretty deep in conversation with each other. Didn't bother us at all, but perhaps don't expect to have staff catering to your every need here. But if you just like to do your thing and browse through the racks, you should be well sorted.,

I spent good money (too much) on trousers that had an irreparable defect that I did not notice until I put them on at home. I understand this is a risk with 2nd hand clothing, and places don't accept returns etc, but I do draw the line at paying ~£30 for something I literally can't wear. I messaged their instagram page about it and expressed my disappointment that they weren't willing to reconcile this in any way (I said I felt this was poor customer service) and the message I received back was so cheeky I am honestly in disbelief. So here I am doing the only thing I can do since I've literally wasted my money.
