On our last day in Scotland, my husband was determined to get a kilt. Having learned that "real" kilts start at £300 for just the kilt, and are upwards of £1,000 for the whole set, he decided to get a "casual kilt," which is essentially the same, just not made from pure wool. Braveheart Kilts was having a sale on casual kilts for £30.
When we walked in and explained to the gentleman what we were looking for, he measured my husband and offered him a choice of 4 different tartans for his kilt. After he picked his tartan, he got to working on the rest of his set. He set my husband up with a shirt, sporran, sgain dubh, and socks. Also, since my husband was a "kilt virgin," he threw in a kilt pin and flashers for free. He knew we weren't looking to spend a ton of money, and respected that, not trying to push us to buy top of the line accessories.
In the end, my husband was thrilled with his purchase. He wore it to dinner that night, and our hosts in Scotland were thrilled to see him. He can't wait to wear it to other future events. We had a nice experience at Braveheart Kilts, and are thankful for their kindness and professionalism. read more
