Hot tea

Pretty unique, decorated spot. Americana decor mixed with antiques. Quite pricey which is expected at a B&B ($80 for 2 for brunch), was well worth it for a special occasion. The ham egg and cheese croissant was DELICIOUS, probably the best one I've ever had. As someone that doesn't often finish their plate, I left no crumbs behind. Their tea service was nice, even came with its own adorable personal jar of honey . The Bloody Mary will fool you, it was HUGE in a very wide glass to the point my date took the entire time drinking it and it barely budged. Came with its own mini Tabasco jar as well. My date loves his blue crab eggs Benedict . Worth stopping in to give it a try, we enjoyed the quirkiness of the patriotic names matching the decor. An owner? Stopped by to check on us as well which is always nice to see. We did feel a bit rushed with the waitress. The grits were sweet which I've never experienced before and did not care for, wild not get the grits again.

The putting green looks like it hasn't been maintained.

Our stay at the Kilmarnock Inn proved to be very disappointing. We were greeted by the owner when we first arrived, and he was certainly friendly but did not give off great vibes. We were shown to our room and where to park but never asked if we need help with our luggage, something that I would have expected if the Kilmarnock was in fact an upscale Inn. The room really smelled; we were not sure what it was, but it was hard to get past the odor. The air conditioner was noisy, the bed somewhat uncomfortable, and no counterspace at all in the bathroom. The entire Inn just had a dingy and upkept feel to it. Our breakfast was good and was included in our room price. I would have been very disappointed if I paid the $50.00 + price that was on the guest check we were presented. The waitress was very friendly and checked in with us often but the freshly laundered tee shirt with an ammunition logo on it was a bit of a turnoff. I would have expected the staff to wear uniforms or at least polo shirts with the Inn's name on it. The Inn was not serving dinner when we visited which was probably a blessing in surprise. I rarely write lukewarm reviews but feel it necessary to warn others that our experience did not come close to our expectations or other reviews.

This is the coolest spot ever!!! My eyes were so busy taking in the sweet decor surrounding me. Oh, and the food was fabulous! My husband and I both chose the Eggs Benedict topped with lump crabmeat! A side of red potatoes diced in sweet red peppers mixed and grilled to perfection! A side of fresh berries and a sweet scone served with coffee. I could have stayed in our cozy corner nook, all morning! The entire place here is so comfortable and romantic inside. Want a more casual setting? Bar side option is great for hanging out or the patio has several open or covered areas to dine with equally comfortable settings and excellent service. Highly recommend!

Lee's Restaurant - I adored these hush puppies.

Came to Lee's for dinner with my son on an early Friday night in December. Pro-tip: this place gets…read morepopular full quick! It is popular, for all the right reasons, so take that into your planning. We were seated quickly because we arrived before 5:30! By the time we left there weren't many open seats. The waiter was great, well timed and very competent. Inside it was cozy and ready for the Christmas holiday's. Something possessed me so I ordered a margarita. Pretty good! I have crazy margarita standards and this one hit the mark. We also started with hushpuppies. Since I used to have a summer job where ALL I did was make hushpuppies at a fish fry shack, I can personally rate hushpuppies and these were outstanding. I'm a sucker for crabcakes. So, of course, I had to have a crabcake sandwich. I didn't want to go all in on the meal and the sandwich seemed the perfect fit for me. And it was! Just the way I like them and wouldn't have it any other way. I went with mashed potatoes gravy as one side. It was very good and will be my new staple. I wanted a good vegetable that I could identify, but the only option that appealed to me was the cucumber salad. I don't remember the last time I ordered that. After the edition, I should order it more! The reason this has been a successful family run business for the last 80 years is because it is reliable, tastes great, and would be the poster child of a place that excels at "comfort food". And I write that with pride.

The sauce that the lobster was tossed in was so watery that it completely soaked the roll and it became a flat piece of wet dough that you could not even pick up. It was disgusting. I had to go ask a fork just so I could eat the lobster without the roll. Anyone who has had lobster rolls before understand that the role is very important and it should not be flat mushy and wet. When I went to get the fork, I was asked why I needed a fork for the lobster roll and I told them that the role was ruined and wet and I couldn't even pick it up. I was then told that the next time I ordered a lobster roll I should get the one with the butter. I was then informed that I must not have been aware of what I was ordering and that's why it wasn't what I expected. I informed them that I was very aware of what I was ordering because I used to own a seafood restaurant and market and that what was served to me was unacceptable. I won't be getting lobster rolls there again, but I will go back for a burger.

Food wise, this restaurant offers a serious seafood steamer feast and we did not miss out! We went with snow crab and shrimp. Cooked just right and cleaned well. We also ordered scallops served on the half shell - Thai chili style. A little bit of a let down as they were slightly overcooked. The chili is quite hot and I like spicy food so it was good with me but too much heat for others at the table. If a good amount of heat is not your thing definitely order the scallops basil style. We are not oyster fans but if you are oysters are a specialty of the house. For sides we had fries and hush puppies. Fries were very good, and the hush puppies were outstanding. Whole pieces of corn inside and cooked to a perfect crunch on the outside I would highly recommend these. We finished off our meal with fried plantains for desert, served with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. A fantastic steamer meal. There is a lot of menu to explore here and entrees seemed to lean toward seafood Mexican style dishes including tacos, burritos, etc. For drinks, the restaurant offers a good selection of beers on tap, wines and a full bar. Definitely recommend and suggest trying a seafood variety steamer style- it was a lot of fun! Cheers, and happy eating!
