Modern but still captured the old coastal feel. It was super musty and smelled like it. There was a dehumidifier but it was so small, in two nights we actually had to dump the water bucket 4 times. And if we left all day, we came back to a damp room. I'm not sure what causes that - we live in a super humid area and don't have the same issue, but maybe a larger humidifier would help. The breakfasts were fantastic - you can order anything off their restaurant menu. I didn't have anything bad, everything was super fresh and came in huge portions. I do wish they had an espresso machine but the coffee was okay. Check out was also a breeze. This isn't a luxury location, my main complaint was the price for it feels steep, but it's one of the only spots in the area which is probably why they can charge so much. Overall, a great stay and I would definitely come back here if I was in the area again.

Perhaps I should say that our hosts Susan and Wayne made it our home with their southern charm and hospitality, actually they became one of us within minutes of our arrival, but as if that was not enough they managed to turn breakfast into a highlight of our trip, and definitely one of several reasons we will choose this location when we return to the Kilmarnock/ White Stone area. When we drove up that little Mansion we could not believe our Eyes. Directly on the water in a magical setting...something we will never forget and definitely will revisit! We did have perfect weather conditions, so when we came back from dinner, we enjoyed ourselves for a little walk around the gardens and lake. The view from our balcony was stunning...you really have to pinch yourself...just making sure you're not dreaming...it made us feel happy as can be. The next morning...David prepared a beautiful spread of breakfast. Crab &Swiss cheese omelette, roasted Yukon potato, turkey bacon, country sausage, the bread basket had lavish varieties and customed as well towards my girl who has celiac disease with gluten free options, Room tempered butter, I think even the raspberry marmalade was homemade, fresh berries...I mean nothing was missing and it was put together with such care. I feel so strongly about sharing my recommendation to stay here that this is my first-ever (and possibly only) Yelp review. The rooms, property, restaurant quality food, and service were impeccable. Sherry, Ridge, and Sara are so kind and will go above and beyond to ensure you have the best stay, even communicating months in advance to see if we had any requests. The unlimited ice cream and snack bars, speakeasy and all-seasons room were our favorite amenities, but the list is plentiful. Our room had a private patio with firepit, heated bathroom floors, a soaking tub, and so much more. It was beyond clean and comfortable! The icing on the cake: they are pet-friendly, and even provided organic dog treats to our corgi. We came in March for my birthday (they gave me flowers, a note, and a gift) and are already planning a trip back in the summer to utilize the heated pool, kayaks, bikes, and other outdoor activities. The vendors were awesome. Much of it was history, genealogy, crafts, gifts, etc. they had tents, and seating and great music. The historical aspect was really unique and interesting. I wish I could have stayed longer for more music and food. This was an awesome community celebration. Ma Margaret's really knows what they are doing. The last Christmas event I went to there was similar in scope and positivity.

Walk a couple buildings down to The Crazy Crab for a sunset dinner over the water, and then to the ice cream place literally across the little street for ice cream. Breakfast is delicious and served in-room. The ferry to Tangier Island (the reason we needed to stay overnight in Reedville) is a 10 minute drive. So ideal!!!

They had free wireless internet, so you can have some contact with the outside world if you like. This is a classic B&B, decorated in very soothing colors and liveable antiques. Coffee was put out early every morning, and the breakfasts were filling and tasty- with the highlights being what was made there- homemade granola and fresh preserves (jam). Bill makes great omlettes and bacon as well! The two labs, Abbey and Savana are sweeties, but only seemed to get used to us after 3 nights. They are protective and will bark, but in a way as to welcome you home. A quick rub behind the ears and they miraculously remember you. Urbanna itself is SMALL, so make sure you have activities beyond tea and breakfast- we just used the wireless to plan our outings each day. I was pleasantly surprised that our pet-friendly room not only had a door to the back garden (so you dont run through and disturb other guests) but there was no additional fee/rent. The whole weekend was relaxing and peaceful. Urbanna was a great town to walk around and everyone was so friendly. Make sure you check out the great nearby restaurants - Ostra and Merroir. The breakfasts served were absolutely delicious - and totally filling! The caramelized banana waffles are the stuff dreams are made of. This is a wonderful place to spend a weekend and I imagine it is even more beautiful in the summertime! Can't wait to go back!
