Apparently the term "boutique hotel" means it operates a bit on the margins. The structure felt old but solidly built and my room was renovated nicely. Other reviewers seemed to have had issues with AC, but mine worked well during some robust summer heat. It was a comfortable room that I spent plenty of time in. The fact that they send you a code remotely to check in is convenient, but not having a regular on-site person to talk to felt a little strange. The kayaks they offered looked a little old but functional. I didn't get around to taking one but other people did and it looked like a nice little inlet to kayak in. The titular pier has a good view, and I observed ample sea life in the estuarine waters that I came to experience. Sightings will vary of course, but if you want to see a blue crab I think your chances are pretty high.

I was so excited to stay here. I loved the themed rooms and although the decor was adorable we were…read moreextremely disappointed. First off, the plumbing was a nightmare. Our toilet clogged several times. Luckily the first time the cleaning lady was on site and provided us a plunger. The shower drained so slowly that it would fill up with water every time we used it. Housekeeping service was non-existent. Our trash piled up and after two days we had to track down a maid to get fresh towels. I'm assuming she was there to clean a recently vacated room as that was the first time we had seen her since day 1. When we initially checked in, we were given only two towels, one washcloth, and one hand towel. Cleanliness was also a big issue. We battled gnats the entire stay. Also, when we first walked in, I ran directly into a spider web, which we shrugged off, but on the last day, a spider crawled into my husband's ear while he was sleeping! That was absolutely horrifying. The grounds of the hotel were equally neglected. The flowerbeds were overgrown and looked like they hadn't been tended to in ages. The outside trash can was overflowing, with room trash that guests were emptying themselves. If you are looking for good food, head to Salt Waterfront Kitchen down the road. Overall, the poor maintenance, lack of cleanliness, and subpar service made this stay one of the worst we've ever had.

I believe it is locally owned. Customer service is great and they are always accommodating when we need anything! But the hotel should do a better job of cleaning the sheets. It's not bad but old stains aren't really out of the white sheets. The balcony has a great view and the dock is free to use. It's next to a seafood restaurant. Free parking with booking. I've been to this location many times over the past 3 years. I would recommend others to stay here.

Our room was ... relatively clean. One of our towels had a stain on it, there were some stains on the chairs in our room, and on the bed skirt (although the sheets themselves appeared to be clean). The king bed sagged in the middle, it was probably at least a twenty year old mattress. The sheets would not stay on the mattress. Half of the shutters in our room were broken, although we managed to position them to close well enough, and there were bugs in the windowsills. The screen door in the suite area was broken. There appeared to be a lamp missing in the bedroom. The TVs are tiny and very old. Much of the room quality could have been overlooked if we'd had better entertainment. The walls and floors are very thin - on our first night we could hear almost everything in the rooms on either side of us, making it very hard to sleep. It seemed that there was a TV on the wall directly behind our bed in the other room. The curtain rod in the bathroom had been moved/repositioned multiple times which left patches in the paint. The cherry on top was that we had no running water for a shower on our final night. This is an awesome location, it was such a bummer that the room was so low quality. It rained the whole weekend we were here, but if the sun had been shining we would have had the most gorgeous view. If this hotel gets a facelift, it could be an amazing weekend destination.

Their rooms are $199/night ($219.50 with taxes).  They do have a two night minimum on weekend. They sometimes even have food vendors come to the parking lot. Had a great pizza truck which was awesome to bring pizza back to the room especially since the Italian restaurant shut down during COVID. They have a Farmer's Market, boat and golf cart parade, Oyster Festival, Halloween celebrations, great boutiques with fabulous clothing and unique gifts and wine shops and great prices on antiques to include an awesome flea market. Occasionally live music. Which is the best! They has been limited during COVID but hopefully will start up soon.

So i'm glad we reserved a few weeks in advance. The rate was reasonable. When we booked online it was pretty easy. They also give a discount if you sign up for their members card. When i walked in a customer was upset that they held money on her card. But the clerk tried to explain why her card was charged. She was very patient with the customer but the lady did not care!! I think she handled it well. I went to the room and it was a decent room but there were some leaks that had been patched in the bathroom. Some things were outdated, but I've been in way worse hotels, so i feel we got our moneys worth. The doors lock at 10pm so random people can't just walk in which made me feel safer. This hotel is one of the only ones in this town so it definitely does the job. Its not fancy but for under $100 its worth it. Theres a small shopping center across the street and restaurants in the area. Theres also a Dollar General next door if you need snacks or toiletries. They also serve a continental breakfast with waffles, muffins, coffee, juice, and etc. The waffles were good. I will stay here again if I'm in the area. 3.5 stars!!

By time I returned they had no alternate rm. to place me in... UGH! I was forced to suffer the motel from HELL... On the next morning, they transferred me to another room, a handicap rm. on the ground floor.... This room also had issues!! ... The refrigerator didn't work! the temperature control knob was broken off!! ... I have placed an additional call to the manager; a note was placed on her door per the desk person I spoke with... I requested a phone call .... It's now been over two weeks and that call has never been placed to me.... I am now sharing my egregious! experience to the public .. Beautiful weather in mid October made for a wonderful weekend getaway for our 20th wedding…read moreanniversary..  Peggy warmly greeted and checked us in followed by a property tour. The building was quaint with each room tastefully decorated with cool and funny schoolhouse memoirs.  Well kept grounds included a pool, vegetable garden, vines and bicycles, with close proximity to local restaurants and shops.  We enjoyed the balcony for Schoolroom #4 every opportunity we had. The claw tub bath/shower provided a functional look into the past while the outdoor bath  provided a unique treat of showering under the stars. We ordered the wine and flowers package and were delightfully happy to see that the flowers were beautifully arranged in a vase in our room.  And the wine chilled upon arrival just begging to be enjoyed. Our gourmet breakfast was sparse but tasty with fresh squeezed OJ.  And dinner hosted by Chef Meseret was exquisite dining at its best.  She loves cooking and it's reflected in her dishes. .. every item was fresh and flavorful with the generous crab cake entree a show stopper.  It was all crab.. no fillers, just a bit of egg to hold it together. We had an enjoyable weekend and hope to explore the area more on another visit.

He knocked on my car door and proceeded to berate me for parking in front of a business establishment. He said he hoped that I would come back. I'm not really sure what he meant by that nor would I ever come back to a place where I was scared in uncomfortable. I can't really say anything about what he served or anything he did, but I will reiterate that it was so inappropriate of him to knocked on my car door. It scared me to the point where I thought about it any hours in the day.

We had my elderly parents w us in their ground floor room called the "Islandscape"and we had one of the main house "Narada" room. The view and location were fantastic. The breakfasts were special 3 course including fresh fruit and something sweet and savory. The baked goods every day by Shawn showed her love and talent for baking--even a goodie bag at our departure. If I lived closer, I would come more often! There's a game room, binoculars, hot chocolate w mini marshmallows, beautiful sitting areas to enjoy the view throughout the property including the front porch where we hung out after dinner. The restaurant right across the street about a stone's throw away at Charles Street served tapas and seafood w live jazz in a Sat night. We also tried Bugeye Grill another night and they were fantastic too. Never really had to get back in the car as you can walk just a few blocks up to the main part of town w a few shops and restaurants. Right next door is an outdoor salty tiki bar that looks fun when it warms up more. I could go on and on. Oh, and Calvert Cliffs park is only 10 min away by car where you can find shark teeth and fossils, which we did! Soo much better than a hotel or airbnb!
