Takes about 10-15 minutes to get from bottom to top or vice versa. At the top there is a half mile loop to ascend to the mountain peak. Beautiful place full of activities, from ski to tubbing and riding the gondola just to enjoy the view in case you don't ski . They have lots of gift shops . Tubbing is great , except for the line that pulls you back up the hill . That is simply terrible , difficult to get out of and it's just a matter of time before someone gets injured trying to come out of it . I almost fell on the other side of the line and the staff just stood there and made no attempt to help , with that I injured my hand trying to hold on to the line . They certainly need better staff and a better system . read more

I am really enjoying Killington more and more. Every spring I now look forward to just to still ski until as late as possible. Skiing opening day this year too set the tone for the season. This past visit I was absolutely thrilled with the lift crew on Bear Mountain. I think they enjoyed my company as much as I did theirs. The fresh snow made it easy to ski all day. This review is a summer review of the Showshed Umbrella Bar. My review is basically, the costs are ridiculous. My wife and I each had a Long Trail beer. Great afternoon of skiing. I'm back as a beginner and the trails are limited but still open for Spring skiing. Conditions were icy on Ramshead, these are the last few days of these trails being open. Got some momentum and this seemed the best bet bet with different abilities. I'm a low risk skier. Plenty of parking. Deals on 65+ lift tickets during the week. Summer season review of the Beast of the East: We came here for the Spartan Race that took place in September. What a beautiful resort. The parking lot was a decent size but I can see that it can get full real quick during peak season; people were parked down the street and at a different location, they had to take a shuttle back to the ski resort. This is the biggest resort in the East and it has 6 mountain peaks and the steepest vertical drop in New England. It is the second highest mountain in Vermont. During the winter, they offer winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding; during the summer they offer 45 miles of hiking and mountain biking. They even have an 18-hole golf course. They have the terrain for all skill levels, bunny slopes to double black diamonds. There eateries throughout; it's located at the bottom and top of the mountains. Bear Mountain was where the Spartan event took place. There are lodging and restaurants nearby. I look forward to visiting again in the winter! read more

5 stars for the snow tubing park. Pros: in an hour we got to go down about 7 times. Parking is at top of hill so you are ready to go upon arrival. Hills are steep enough that a small child isn't going to get stuck due to not enough momentum. Ticket process is easy. Option for automated machine to return tube or a walk back up. Cons: not many people working and supervising. The nearby parking lot can fill up requiring a longer walk from where u end up parking. read more

There aren't many choices when you're on the Ikon pass, but Killington definitely is a good option. With a variety of peaks to choose from, all very easily accessible from one another, Killington is an ideal place for people of varying abilities. There is a nice assortment of all different terrain levels, and several lodges so people are well spread out among them. Their snowmaking was constant and plentiful, and the grooming was great. Not much snow, so it's very important to Protect Our Winters! Nice ski spot and I look forward to coming back soon. read more

Troubling day on the Northridge quad. The lift operator seemed to be upset, he's yelling, I ask him "Are you yelling at me" ? Now he's furious because I apparently interrupted his phone conversation and I notice the guy has got ear buds in and is having a full on phone conversation so he can't hear anything such as customers saying "Stop the lift ! My daughter's hello kitty nap sac is stuck in the chair and she just got ripped around the bull wheel" ! I tried to talk to the guy but he started yelling at me and I couldn't understand him, he would appear to be Jamaican. I saw a ski patroller and expressed my concerns but he was busy digging a frozen pad out of the snow and positioning it higher on a lift pole and appeared irritated that I had interrupted this life saving work. Do better Killington or everyone will just go somewhere else. read more

Good old Killington. I've spent many seasons here in the past and came back recently to visit. It's where I grew up, snowboarding-wise, so I'm biased. Still, the beast of the east lives up to its name. Even on the worst days you can usually find something rideable. Any complaints are probably more attributable to geography and weather but they do what they can with snowmaking. The trails are as well marked and laid out as I've seen, but again my experience here might be saving me from the worst of it. Steeps can get icy, certain trails and lifts are going to be exposed to wind, but with the size of the resort you should be able to find something you can lap if you explore a bit. Facilities and food are fine. I wish the waffles at the base were made fresh but the smell is still bewitching at the end of the day. Food otherwise is typical American fare, so you can count on burgers, wraps, salads and soups. Can't really complain about my fellow weekend warriors but the biggest issue is going to be overcrowding, in the parking lots and the lift lines. Again, the conditions are gonna be out of their control but it's the price you pay. It'll always be a love-hate relationship with weather. You can do a lot worse on the east coast. Strap in and have fun. read more

It's weird, I remember really hating this place because the layout made no sense and I somehow kept missing the runs I wanted to do and the friends I wanted to do them with. But I went recently (note: on a weekday) and had just a stellar time. Not to say the mountain makes sense. It still doesn't. There's like fifteen peaks and you can get to some of them from some others, but there's a big gap between the left side of the resort and the gondola which it seemed like the only way to bridge was to take a slow lift up or just hike around. Kind of annoying and disrupts the rhythm a bit. The gondola is pretty excellent and the lodge at the top is really beautiful. It's kind of unfortunate that there's not many ways down from that peak unless you're a crazy person (i.e. you like throwing yourself down double black cliff faces). We found ourselves taking the same blue over and over to do anything reasonable from that spot. Going on a weekday was so excellent, even though the snow wasn't that great. Plenty to try out and a lot of variety. I'll definitely be back. read more

We went after they had a big snow storm and this was one of the best ski resorts I have ever been to. I love the trails and the mountains that surround the mountain make it feel like it is just you and the mountain. The staff was very friendly and helpful, finally the food unlike mountain ski mountain is delicious especially the chicken sandwich place at the bottom of the trails great eastern, home run, touchdown and valley plunge. I bought 3 days of classes and lift tickets for my two daughters. After traveling all the way from Florida, we arrived to a frustrating situation -- definitely not what anyone expects on vacation. When we went to pick up our lift tickets, the customer service representative rudely informed me that there had been an error and that two of my lift tickets would be canceled electronically. She said that if I still wanted them, I would need to buy them at full price. This was completely different from what I was told on the phone, and the receipt I had clearly stated the promotion details -- there was no room for misunderstanding. I asked to speak with a supervisor, and unfortunately, the response was just as poor, if not worse. The supervisor was equally rude and refused to offer any clear explanation or reasoning for the mistake. I was cut off and asked to walked away. They asked me to pay another almost 400$ like its nothing. While the mountain, lifts, and ski classes were decent, I visited in mid-March and found the snow conditions lacking. There was no fresh snow, and most of the area was covered with just compacted ice that was melting quickly, which could affect your experience. Pools of water everywhere. Furthermore, their ski equipment rental is outrageously expensive. You can easily rent gear just a few minutes' drive away for a third of the price. In conclusion, this was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had in the U.S. I would not recommend this company to anyone and will certainly not be returning. Keep this in mind, especially if you're planning to travel from far away. read more

Awful experience. Hubs brought me here for my birthday and they had a fall festival that day (which was free). We had pre-purchased tickets online for the activities, which was ziplining, the eagle, gondola ride and mountain coaster. For some inexplicable reason, the zip line was closed most of the day (to the complete surprise of the employees we asked for help), the line for the mountain coaster was over an hour for a 2 min ride (no one checking bracelets and lots of people getting on for free) and the eagle was closed half the day! The best part was the ski lift up Killington and seeing the fall colors. Absolutely not worth the money paid! Tried calling to talk to someone about issues but there's no option to talk to a live person. Thankful for one gentleman volunteer who fell felt bad and tried to help us. Would not recommend the "adventure park", however, would suggest the ski lift gondola for great views (able to purchase that separately). read more

Went skiing today, mountain report claimed they were going to get 6-10 inches of snow, barely got 1 inch of ice, false advertising as they continuously do at Killington to get as much money as they can. Lifts were old and slow, gondola line was 45 minutes. Conditions were good though but to many beginners who created dangerous conditions on the trails. Lodge was filled with people who do 1 run and then go plank there butt indefinitely, taking space for those trying to come in for a few minutes. Mostly overweight people. Also, foul smell permeated the lodge. Overall, would not go there again and spend $200 for a terrible experience. read more

This was my first time at Killington and I can't say enough great things. Everything is an experience there. My punishment of choice was snowboarding. I did two lessons with Vicente and Katie, and they were absolutely amazing. Several bumps, bruises and falls later - I feel so much more comfortable on the board. They have ample area to learn how to ride prior to hitting the slopes. All of their food areas and gondolas, are amazing! What I will say is that their food can be overpriced for what it is, typical of any resort restaurant. If you want to save money, definitely bring some snacks / grub. But if you're willing to spend some extra money- I highly recommend the nachos with chili from the K1 lodge- also the views are spectacular. You can either ride back down or take the gondola. 10/10 recommend for lessons and general riding. read more

This is a winter wonderland. No doubt about it. Passed by Christmas Eve with my boyfriend and his family. We had road tripped from Albany, NY. This was a bit impromptu as we didn't know where exactly to stop, but after seeing the mountain, it was inevitable that we would stop there. Paying for parking is $15 flat. It's for the whole day. Going on a gondola to go ski (or not) is $33 per person. If you buy five tickets, you get one free. Such was the case for us given that there were six of us total. Prices for the gondola aside, we did pass by the gift shop and by the coffee stand. Tried some of their coffee and it was roasted well. In fact, it made me quite toasty, which I loved as I was feeling downright frozen. There are two floors to the ski lounge at the bottom of the mountain. I don't believe the one on the top of the mountain has two floors, but that doesn't stop it from being just as spacious. Note that the restaurant is on the ski lodge at the top of the mountain. To get to the top part of the mountain, a gondola must be taken. It takes you up over 4,000 ft. The view is breathtaking, and even if you are afraid of heights, you should go on this. It's stunning. It also goes by painfully slow. It all depends on how you look at it. If you want to ski, I believe you can rent equipment there. We didn't personally ski as we were unprepared and had other plans. Still, we had a fabulous time, and if in the area, I will definitely return. Maybe I'll ski on the next go around, or at the very least, try. I am fully expecting to fall flat on my face. read more

I had a horrible experience while eating at Bear Mountain Lodge. I just finished lunch, and Matty, a young server came by my table and grabbed 2 beers that were closed. My friends gave them to me for drinking at the lodge. Apparently there is a no alcohol policy on the deck, but there were no signs specifying that except for one small sign indoors. We didn't know about the rule. Matty was extremely rude, and yelled at me when I asked for them back, trying to explain the situation. I am very disappointed in the resort and their staff. With all that said, the mountains are some of the best around in terms of variety. If you're looking for excellent skiing, you should come here. Just don't expect good customer service. read more

This is one of my few favorite places to snowboard. Powder days can exist in the east coast when it snows. If there isn't enough snow, there's always a snowmaking machines on many of the trails. The longest trail is great eastern although it is a green trail, it is very scenic and great for picture taking or video making. Great place to ski or snowboard for the weekend. read more

Came here YOLO-ing by coming here for day trip. Started driving around 2am and came here around 7am just before the lift started running. This place is huge! This is the first time I've seen gondola in ski resort. Bad thing is this place close at 4pm. There's many routes but I think this place is not friendly for beginner. Perhaps it's because of where I started (near K1 lounge), but I don't remember coming across much green routes. We decided to go higher up. There's many crossover path, so you need to be careful. Also, some routes are pretty narrow and it can be dangerous when too many people coming down at same time. Some people are speed maniacs and like speeding down the route that they don't pay attention to safety issue. Fiancee had two accidents caused by a child and an adult crashing on her board. One was a very bad accident where a guy came right at the outer edge (he basically can fall off the cliff) and crashed on her board. I saw that guy flew few feet away. Fiancee had to remove the snowboard boot cause of pain. But luckily, no big injury. Despite the shortcoming, Killington has great potential. There's many varieties of routes, with different challenges and terrains. If you want long route, look out for those "Great" routes (e.g., great eastern, great northern). Some area are less crowded than the others, so you need to do your research. For lunch, I got a park crew burger at bear mountain lodge. I was surprised to see a really good burger here. For $13, you get burger with two beef patties, bacon, grilled onion, lettuce and cheese. Good burger. read more

I drove 1.5 hours with 3 children (adults by their definition) spending $271.36 only to find: K-1 Express gondola: Closed Trampoline Jump: Closed WreckTangle: Closed Downpour Derby: Closed These are all listed on their website as part of the "Adventure Center Unlimited 1-day Pass." Other attractions like the Zipline Racer are only available to older children even though anyone 7 years old or older pays full price. Killington isn't just a mountain - it's an experience. It's been a few years since my last visit here, and I almost forgot what partying until 3am and skiing five hours later felt like. Fortunately, this trip refreshed my memory! First off - the resort itself... Killington boasts six mountain peaks - seven if you include Pico - they are: Ramshead, Snowdon, K1, Skye, Bear, and (this one shouldn't count) Sunrise. Two beginner runs, (Great Northern and Great Eastern - both accessible from the K1 summit) traverse through all the areas, so from the K1 summit, you're just an additional lift ride from literally any run at the entire resort. We usually park over at Ramshead, which is marketed as a family friendly area consisting of beginner and intermediate runs. It's a great warm up spot, the base area there isn't too overwhelming, and they have ample parking right by the express quad. Both days when we arrived, we were greeted in the parking lot by a mountain ambassador, who gave us a quick snow/grooming report and alerted us of any wind holds on the lifts. Both days were cold, so we planned our trails around taking a gondola ride up every three or four runs. After starting off at Ramshead, we scooted over towards Snowdon and hit some blues and double-blacks feeding into the Canyon quad and North Ridge Triple. Then it was time for K1 and Skye, alternating between the Gondola and the Superstar Express. After that, we worked our way over to Bear. At first glance, the trail map seems overwhelming, but as with any large ski area, including those out west, the best way to conquer the mountain is to break it down into pods or zones. This way, you're spending less time traversing too... Overall, the conditions were pretty sweet. Killington was hit with about a foot of snow the weekend before we arrived, but their snowcats managed to groom about 70-80 trails each day and spread out what was left of the snowfall. There were plenty of chances to drop into the trees for some turns, which I took advantage of to get out of icy situations (like the lower third of Superstar and parts of Outer Limits). For the terrain junkies, there are seven trails/park areas spread around the entire resort. For all the ones I visited, jibs were varied, and jumps were clearly marked and well-maintained. My favorite of them all is "The Stash," a natural park nestled in the woods by Bear Mountain. Again, if you take your last chair up on the K1 Gondola, you'll have guaranteed access to any of the base areas. Lastly, the access road & nightlife... The access road from Route 4 to the base of the K1 Gondola is about five miles long, so on your way to the mountain, pay attention to the signs outside the bars and restaurants dotting this road. Most advertise happy hour specials from 3-6pm, with the Pickle Barrel and Wobbly Barn also displaying any live bands they may have scheduled. Many of the larger restaurants/bars offer a free shuttle that'll take you to/from their restaurant to any location along the access road. If you're staying elsewhere, your only options (besides driving yourself of course) is to use "The Bus," or pay big bucks for a cab. Notable access road happy hour spots include Casey's Caboose (small narrow bar, but lots of separate restaurant seating), Wobbly Barn (two-floor bar upstairs, quieter restaurant downstairs), and Sushi Yoshi (free wings from 3-6pm, casual small bar, slightly more upscale hibachi & sushi areas) Happy skiing! read more

Because Killington is determined to add each customer into their database, the ticket line at Ramshead Lodge moves at an absolutely glacial pace. The resort desperately needs to modernize its ticket selling operation - how about adding self-serve terminals where guests could purchase their own tickets? I recently learned how to ski this past winter and I must say, I couldn't have imagined learning anywhere other than Killington. From the extremely friendly Learn-to-Ski teachers, the numerous paths and great facilities, this is easily one of the best spots to ski on the east coast. My friends and I enjoyed our first ski experience so much, we came back just a month later for more action. If you're new to skiing, I highly recommend the learn to ski classes. Take one in the morning and you'll have the whole afternoon to practice what you learned. The grounds and paths were well managed and overall people here were very friendly and willing to help, even if you're wiped out in the middle of the hill. I would love to give the area more stars, but our experience was less than desirable. Our kid did a demo board as he was going to purchase at the end of the trip. No mention of theft being a problem, no suggestion or urging to purchase locks or that it would be necessary. No where on the resort did we see any signs warning of an issue with theft or the need to lock up equipment.On the second to last day he switched to a different board and literally an hour before the slopes closed, he put his board on a rack outside K1, steps from the door. My husbands skis were with them, they went in to use restroom, came out to the skis moved and the board gone. When asking the staff for help, we discovered they do not have surveillance cameras outside the building. To me that is careless and unsafe. They gave us the "paperwork"that they said was a police report that would be turned into the Killington Police Department. After we got home we followed up and it is indeed not a police report Seems more like a way for them to just not assume any responsibility for their guests. Someone that was in charge was supposed to call us and a week later my husband had to call them. They did literally nothing to try to help us recover the board or fill out an actual police report to turn into our insurance. After we got home, we joined a Killington locals Facebook page and found out that theft from Killington resort is pretty much a daily occurrence. I feel like Killington needs to spend some of that outrageous money They charge for lift tickets, and put cameras up to at least try to feign concern for safety and appear to be looking out for the best interest of their patrons. We will take our future business to Sugarbush, which in our opinion is a much better resort and guess what they have cameras everywhere. Do better Killington! read more

So if you live in the northeast and you ski and love to ski, you must try it! **DISCLAIMER- no other small mountain will compare, so if your home mountain is small, it will be ruined. But still worth it!! There are so many lifts and trails for all abilities. If you can't handle any trail, you should research a little and be sure you don't take a lift that's going to force you down a diamond or dbl diamond. Yes, it will likely be icy. Yes, if it's the weekend there will be lines and yes you're wallet will shed tears and I'm still telling you to go! The lodges will be packed too - esp at the top of killington peak - time it in an off time or go on a base lodge. Also if you go to rams head it's harder to get back over to the other mtns and it's a bit more of easier trails with the ski school. Ski the beast and you will want to go back!! read more

Came here on Christmas Day and the day after for a day of snowboarding and the conditions were great. Took the gondola up to the peak (photo worthy) and during most of the way down the trails were empty and peaceful. This year they changed over from ski lift tickets to "One Pass" which is a credit card size card that replaces the lift tickets and just uses sensors to allow you to go onto the lifts. This card can also be used at Pico mountain. If you stay indoors in the lounges provide free wifi and dining options. The parking is also free and there is a 15 min loading zone. read more

Coming from NJ, it's easy to see why people talk about Vermont mountains so endlessly. I didn't even have to set foot on the mountain to know that this is no tri-state area (*cough* pocono mountain *cough*). To be fair, my experience of Killington was limited - I only went for one day, and didn't make it very far from the bunny hill..... that's an exaggeration, I didn't physically leave the bunny hill at all. However, I signed up with a friend for Snowboarding lessons and had a blast! We got there a couple minutes late due to traffic and taking longer to get to the mountain than anticipated - not to fear, the staff rushed us through the lines and made sure we got to our snowboarding lessons on time! (Should out to Pam for making sure we got to the RIGHT lesson on time!). Initially, we signed up for snowboarding day 1 lessons, but once talking to the staff we were informed we wanted day 2, based on our (very limited) abilities. The lesson was about 9:15-11:45, and Thea was our instructor - she was AWESOME! It's a small group of about 5 people and the instruction is pretty individualized. She even ran down the mountain with us a little bit at the beginning - which really helped with my i-cant-do-this fears. By the end of our lesson, everyone was able to snowboard down the bunny hill, mostly, making s-turns like sem-pros. It was a blast, and also a HARD workout! Wishing I had more time to visit and looking forward to coming back again and exploring more of the mountain*. *Exploring the very most basic of trails, of course. Green and blue only! read more

I've been coming here on and off for about 30 years. It's one of my favorite places to ski. The ski area is huge with several different mountains and a wide variety of runs at different levels. This was the first time I brought kids and we enrolled them in the kids ski program. Both had a great time and loved their instructors. It's a bit on the expensive side, but its expected for a ski resort and worth it in the long run. We were lucky to visit during low peak times, so renting equipment and lift lines were a breeze. I like Killington. Not just because it has 4 Waffle Cabins, but because you get a great variety of trails to snowboard down, it's well staffed, and you can buy $50 lift tickets in the preseason ("K-50's"). More advanced and difficult trails were open vs. beginner slopes early in the season, but that wasn't an issue. There are some decent lodging and lift deals close to the resort, or you can check out homeaway.com. We were able to rent a house that comfortably sleeps 6 for the weekend for only $525. Elev. 4241'!!! Yes, we were here one recent Friday on a day trip in the middle of summer, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves riding the K-1 Express Gondola to Killington Peak and taking in the awesome views all around. I'm no ski buff and we were nowhere near snow, but it was absolutely thrilling to see the ski tracks all bare and green on the slopes of the mountains. Parking was aplenty, and we made it straight to the ticket office. It costs $25 per person, and a fourth person rides free in a group of four. In the end, it was money well spent for us. The ride to the top of Killington Peak is fun, and it was cool to see and hear the stream as well as see the roads and trails on the way up. It definitely gets cooler up there, so it might be a good idea to be prepared. On a clear day, they say you can see part of NY as well as Canada. I honestly couldn't tell which was which, but the views were breathtaking nonetheless. The Peak Lodge was fun to visit, and you can also use the bathroom here: it's immediately to the left as you enter the foyer for the restaurant, with another set of doors to the restaurant itself on the right. Besides the lookout, the catwalk is also well worth checking out, and it's accessible through either the back exit/entrance off the bar or walking across the gondola path that you will see to your right as you come up. The back deck off the Peak Lodge bar section is another vantage point, and is recommended. The gondola ride takes about 10-15 minutes, and the staff were generally young and helpful, gladly helping a senior in our group get off the gondola. I might come back for the ski lift, maybe. My first time snowboarding was awesome! This place looks super intimidating from the bottom of the mountain. It's also gigantic. Pros - Rental gear was awesome Everyone who worked there was exceptionally nice Tons of trails for all levels Cons - Not very informative. Admissions asked if it was our first time In which we responded yes - she walked through where to get started on the mountain. We would have appreciated if the staff would let people know there's more than 1 snow lodge and maybe just a summary of a map. Kind of felt as if the process was - thanks for your money, go there for gear, next. I would most certainly still go back. read more
