Although I have never been taken in on time, I have had mostly positive experiences here. Now the office staff can be a little messy. I've been called several times in regards to different things and honestly I think there was a few new people who just started -it was getting a little ridiculous with the back and forth when none of it was actually my fault or problem. I've been coming for a few years now and I absolutely love Dr Stirba. She is a very good optometrist and always gets my RX dialed in perfectly. She listens to my CL needs and gets me the best lenses! (I wish Acuvue transitions never got discontinued!!!) You do have to pay up front before services are rendered which isn't my favorite but it's their office policy so what are you going to do? Their glasses selection is small and appears to be all Luxotica brands (which are slowly monopolizing the frame industry) but that's what the majority of people want; name brands. There's better options for quality frames in my opinion. Like I said, wonderful Dr, great technicians who can actually hold a conversation and a team of frame stylists very willing to help you find the perfect frame. I'll be back next June for my yearly apt! read more

Both my wife and I tried KEC. My visit? I went and bought glasses with their script from a known online supplier I have used for decades. The script was absolutely way off. I returned to KEC with those new glasses. They were checked and validated to be accurate based on the script they wrote. I then confronted the optometrist with my previous script from a reputable well known massachusetts ophthalmologist who I had been seeing since I was kid. She changed my script a bit to match my old one and sent me on my way. My wife. Went in this year and she had been using their script from a year ago. Her script was never correct and made her dizzy. The KEC optometrist said it didn't change and also sent her on her way. She was irritated and went to another eye care shop and had an exam but did not give them her script or glasses from KEC. After the initial exam she then gave them the KEC script and the glasses. The new optometrist set the eye exam machine to their new script and the one from KEC. The new optometrist told my wife the script from KEC was way off. Houston, we have a problem. No way will we go back there again. Btw any optometrist that dialates your eyes before the exam? Ask why because KEC does just that. read more

Unfortunately thanks to Jill in the office and Dr Sheppard not returning my calls i will have to write this review i've been going to this office for A few years Because I have a really bad case of glaucoma and I need four different drops twice A day for the rest of my life and I will never get my eyesight back on the right side, but I can at least try to control it with my eyedrop's well Mrs. Jill in the office decided because I owed $70 co-pay to have her office lady call me and tell me that if I don't pay my co-pay NOW over the phone she is going to cancel my appointment and also she decided to also withhold my medication's, which are my eyedrop's that I need every day putting my health at risk mind you I've never had a problem with a co-pay. I always pay it when I go to my appointment right on the spot. But I'm guessing that she either had a bad day or she likes to have things her way and put patients health at risk for $70 co-pay, which is illegal to withheld prescription that can cause a patient harm. Either way I tried calling and talking to the doctor which never called me back. I tried calling a couple different times and they just hung up on me, please stay away from this office. They do not care about patients and they are very unprofessional. I have filed a complaint with the DOP.H And also with the board of medicine, Shame on this office for letting this office lady Jill Ruin their name over a co pay and withhold my prescription .. As far as the doctor i have been going to that office for over a couple years and if he has seeing me four times in 2-3 years thats would be the most which doesn't make sense because the previous eye doctor I had would come in the waiting room to go over the results every visit .: all around very unprofessional place and sad that they would treat a patient like this ./ I have had some issues due to them wit holding my eye drops and denying my refills .: I thought hard about writing this review but I gave them plenty chances to correct this situation.: Jill is bad for that office staff .:: and they mess up on prescriptions all the time .:.: good luck" killingly eye care " F.Tirado read more

Everyone here was super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for new glasses. This was the first time I bought frames without needing to send pictures to my sisters because the staff were so great! read more

I needed new frames and the employees were amazing. They were energetic and always ready to help and answer questions.

Hello, Overall is a professional and thorough practice with tons of potential due excellent doctors and technicians/staff. It's a beautiful place. They keep the flow going. They have state-of-the-art equipment. I would, however advise that the team work on their communication skills with patients on phone and in person. Folks may be nervous and not knowledgeable about procedures and need to be put at ease more. It began with the phone call to make the appointment. I was cautioned immediately about insurance and how am I going to pay. There is a better way to inquire about insurance without turning future clients the other way. If I didn't have it in mind to see a certain eye doc, I would have hung up the phone. I have excellent coverage through my job as it is and didn't need the third degree. Next, no one should leave the office feeling that their vision is compromised even slightly. I did not have the proper sunglasses to counteract glare from the eyedrops administered as part of an exam. It should have been explained PRIOR to the visit; I would have had someone drive me had I known this would be the effect, or at least bring sunglasses. It was off-putting when the girl at the front desk grinned and handed me a plastic sunglass sheet and had to explain how to wear it when I complained about the blurry vision and blinking. The same receptionist explained it would be a couple hours before the drops wore off. Earlier during optical photos of the back of my eye, a technician complained that I was moving too much during four eye photos (in each eye) at the conclusion of the exam. Really?...you're scolding me? You need to be patient with the patients. When I mentioned that my close up vision was blurry, I was told by the technician that that's what I was told to expect when they gave me the drops. Again that scolding tone that can be perceived as abrupt and uncaring. I am a client of your practice, and wish to be treated as a valued customer. read more

This is absolutely one of the most professional places you can go. They will work with you to make sure you get the perfect fit and prescription is perfect. I was a difficult patient because I didn't need glasses until I was 50. They worked with me to make sure I was happy and understood exactly what I needed to enjoy my glasses. read more

So glad I found this place! Recently moved to the "quiet corner" of CT from RI. Drove by this building and thought I could use a new eye doctor. I called and they were super friendly and very accommodating. Fast, efficient and modern. All the things you could want in a doctor's office. read more

Killingly Eye Care is a very professional and friendly office. All of my questions were answered completely. I have been going there for years! Hated to give even 1 star. Used to love this place till this year. Sticker shock doesn't even describe what I felt. Prices have doubled and more. Almost 500. For just a regular exam. If you dare go make sure to ask beforehand the cost. And also for what. Will look for a new place! read more

I recently brought in an outside prescription to order glasses. The staff was more than accommodating, spending time helping me select the right frames for my face as well as keeping me in a price point I feel comfortable with. The glasses are without a doubt the best pair I've owned in the 20 plus years I've worn glasses. I would truly recommend Killingly Eye Care to anyone looking for quality eye care service and selection. read more

Best eye care facility I've ever been a patient at. They use the newest technology for eye health. Staff is friendly and helpful. Great selection of glasses. Contacts are cheaper here then online. read more

My eyes were dilated before my exam for my prescription, and the glasses I received, a week later, gave me a migraine, which I have never had before I tried my glasses. My prescription was far too strong. I was not asked what I would be needing my glasses for or what my preference might be for lenses. I was given lenses with an Rx for distance only, and try getting used to glasses that are for "distance only". I called to ask to have my glasses checked and I was told to "just try and get used to them". I called again after a week of headaches and was given an appointment for another exam. Another week goes by before I received my glasses with the Rx cut in half (that was the medical term for my new Rx, that seemed to be more of a guess than an actual prescription) and I still can't see. I was once again told to "try and get used to them". My PD along with my OC height did not match what was measured and was out of tolerance. Not only can I not see, my frames were not adjusted to fit my face correctly, which is a pretty standard guideline when dispensing prescription glasses. I will not be back. I didn't really want to see anyways. read more

This medical practice is the most flawless I have ever seen. Dr MacNeil is a great doctor. He is kind to his clients here in CT and in other places in the world. This compassion can be seen in him and in the other staff members as well. I have seen numerous medical practices for myself and family member here and out of state. Killingly Eye Care is the very best thanks to Dr MacNeil and his love, compassion, and gentle humor. read more

Well, James, it's true: I've never been a patient of yours. The grumpy attitude of your staff prevented it. What difference does it make? I had a bad experience during what would have been my first visit. I was informed my previous optometrist had merged with you, but nobody notified me that my plan would not be accepted when I scheduled it or reconfirmed. Please do not blame me for business decisions you make about plans you take when you don't even have the courtesy of notifying patients like myself about whom you knew were on that plan (i.e., before I drove all the way down there). Not to mention being more apologetic, since it was obvious I had come a great distance just for the appointment? It seems courtesy, empathy, and respect are missing from your practice, as evidenced not only by my experience there in person but also your posting the response you did. I'll leave it up to the readers on Yelp to heed my warning. read more
