We were making time in between events and we decided to do some EVOO tasting. What a great idea! We found Kiler Ridge and we were not disappointed. The views from the farm are breathtaking. We had a great lesson on EVOO. I enjoyed learning about the benefits, processes, and different types. The presentation and service were fantastic, and their oils are delicious.

So cool. We did the olive oil tasting. They were even accommodating to my kids who participated. The owners swung by and answered our questions and gave us a little history. Who doesn't want to break up their wine tastings with some olive oil tasting?

What a lovely place to have an olive oil tasting! The wonderful lady - I can't remember her name - was so informative ! Learned that the property was purchased 2003 and was an almond tree farm. Italian olive trees are now grown on the property. It was a hot day but the patio was very nice. Understand more about the peppery flavor of olive oil. Bought several bottles and soap with goat milk made with their oil. Drove away to go to the honey farm but came back to buy the lemon oil on sale and a tea towel! Absolutely loved this farm and the lovely lady who helped us! Seeing the watermelon fig tree was quite a treat too! Thank you so much!

Olive oil tasting! $10 bucks per person and you get to try 5 different high quality oils. You also get a tasty treat at the end

Such a fun and unique experience. My husband and I are big foodies and love trying new things. We loved tasting the high quality olive oils and learning so many interesting facts about how it's made. I definitely would recommend giving this place a shot :)

This was our first time for Olive Oil tasting. Wonderful experience. The property is very beautiful and we enjoyed the tasting. Also ended up buying some oil. Will definitely recommend to my friends.

We've been to olive-oil tasting before and so were excited about our trip here. Callouts 1. The folks here were very hospitable and equally informative about the various olive-oils. 2. The place itself has stunning views of the surrounding landscape including the ranch itself. 3. Worth noting that they do not provide any breads/ food servings to dip into the olive-oil so you're pretty much going to have drink the oil as is. This came as a surprise to us and is definitely worth considering. 4. At 8$ a person, this is fairly economical as compared to some of the other olive-oil tasting places in the neighborhood. 5. They provide a small serving of ice-cream (interspersed with olive-oil) at the end of the tasting.

I've been wine tasting and chocolate tasting so I figured why not give olive oil tasting a try as well. The farm is about a mile from the intersection of Vine St. and Kiler Canyon Rd. It is then another .3 of a mile up Old Kiler Canyon Road. I was able to drive my Honda sedan so it's definitely not "off road" like some reviewers suggested. You will need to pass through an automatic gate(open during business hours) to reach the parking lot. Tasting/tour reservations can be made online or over the phone. *Check days/times before you go. For the tasting the group sat outside and enjoyed the lovely view and pleasant fall weather while our hostess guided us through the basic ins and outs of olive oil growing, harvesting, processing, and bottling. I had zero background knowledge on the subject so I was an eager participant even taking notes. Thanks Kiler Ridge for helping me become a more informed olive oil shopper.

I love their presentation! All olive oils come from their property which you have an amazing view of during the tasting. Its stunning! They have you warm the oil in your hand and then pop the lid and smell it. It reminds me of begining of aladdin; the merchant scene when he pops the lid od the famous dead sea tupperware box:"puff, still good!" Presenters will each have their own approach some talk about how to taste the olive oil, or about the harvest and pressing. They will all teach you what to look for on labels of olive oil to know you are getting a first press, extra virgin olive oil. They briefly explain about regulations/ lack of regulations on what you can call extra virgin olive oil and compare theirs to a generic brand and tell you what chemicals go into it. Their olive oils do have a bit more cough to it in the back of your throat and you will also get to learn about that. You will definitely leave with a bottle of olive oil and maybe a new desert addicion... highly recommend this experience.

Excellent alternative if you are, like me, someone who cannot handle more than a glass of wine. Paso Robles being a mecca of wines was off my target places because of the idea of spending hours wine sipping has never attracted me too much. However, I am in love with agriculture in general (not only of grapes we live!) and in particular anything related to the olive oil culture (after all I am Spaniard and my parents grew up picking and eating olives and having olive oil instead of blood circulating their veins!). I simply cannot live without olive oil and love visit this type of beautiful working farm, where you can enjoy the aesthetics of a well taken care property as well as connect with the land and with your ancestors (well, at least with mine!). Kiler Ridge is beautiful from the moment those gates open for you (check the designs in the iron). Very clean, spacious, warm and quiet all at the same time. I enjoyed not only the oils, but also checking the sculptures made of metals and recycled materials (awesome artist). The sculptures were for sale, so I assume they rotate them for variety from time to time. I also enjoyed a lot the fruit trees, checking the pomegranates growing, the figs...all so Mediterranean looking. I felt at home. You will feel too. And, remember, this is a great excuse to visit Paso Robles if you are not wine-tasting inclined.

Olive oil tasting?! I didn't think it would be that enjoyable but MIL really wanted for us to check it out and well I loved the experience. The five of us tasted about 6 olive oils and our sommelier of olive oils led us through the different OO and how to smell and taste them. We compared authentic OO to that of store brand olive oils and there is quite a distinction. I learned quite a bit about olive oil - how they are harvested and made, regulations of OO here and abroad, etc. We enjoyed the olive oil so much that we bought 2 bottles. I was excited to try them that I drizzled them on my salmon and salad. If you're looking for something to do in Paso Robles and you're not into wine, this would be a good option. The views of the olive trees are beautiful and their dog, Marcus, was an added plus for my daughter. Also we were able to bring our dog with us.l which was an added plus!

This is not your typical shop where you walk around tasting samples of different olive oils. Here, you sit down and spend about 30 minutes tasting different oils and actually learning about them and how they are made. One of the friendly representatives gives you a lesson of sorts. It's truly an educational experience but a fun, interesting one, too. The olive oils are very, very good. We actually would have loved to have purchased one of each of the different types but our budget wouldn't allow it and, honestly, I wouldn't want them sitting unused and unloved in the cupboard. As others have noted, you do get a little scoop of ice cream at the end with a dash of sea salt and drizzle of olive oil on type. Sounds weird but it's pretty delicious. The grounds are lovely and overlook olive tree orchards all around. They also have a very pleasant deck with nice seating overlooking the orchards where you can enjoy a nice cup of olive oil, I guess. This is a unique experience and a nice break from wine tasting in the area. Recommended.

Beautiful views and a fun time tasting. The olive oil is excellent and is about $30 for a medium bottle. Worth the splurge and the visit.

Ask the Community - Kiler Ridge Olive Oil

Is a reservation required for olive oil tasting?

I would say no. We didn't have one and others that came in didn't have one, either.

Can we bring a bottle of wine with us to enjoy with the olive oil and small plates? Thanks!

Found this place through Yelp and it was one of a couple just off our way south, so it wasn't hard to make a pit stop. We were helped by a brunette lady (I forget her name), who was delightful and very knowledgeable. She gave us a sampling tour which gave us the breadth of flavors of olive oils. Who knew there was so many varieties?! Ok so maybe just I don't know but... Anyway, we left with 2 varieties: the cucina (blend of varietals) and soltera (one olive) as well as a spice mix and some truffle salt. Mmmm all so good! We have since been ordering olive oil from Pasolivos now for a few months since the visit. And now we cannot go back to the Costco olive oil we used to get. Btw, imported olive oil is likely not pure olive oil. There's no quality control, so you don't know what you'll get (cut with canola, etc). Seriously, we cannot go back to our old olive oil ways. We are now addicted to this award winning locally sourced California olive oil from Pasolivos! I kinda wish we could give that lady who helped us some kind of commission for our monthly orders.

6 Star Alert. 6 star Alert. 6 star Alert. 6 star Alert…read more SIX STAR ALERT. SIX STAR ALERT. That right people, I said it.... And 6 times to be exact! Because let me tell you, the Spice of Life in Downtown Paso Robles not only deserves those 6 stars, but they truly EARNED each & every star (plus a bonus star) that I am awarding them for their exceptional hospitality. Now, let me tell you why! While in Paso for my wife's weekend birthday getaway, we had such fun time casually strolling the streets with no where to be. While window shopping, going in and out of the various shops, and just meandering through the downtown area.... We suddenly came across a little business called: The Spice of Life From the outside, it was pretty obvious what we were about to get into... ----Spices----Herbs----Teas---- Hey, they had me at Spices, but the rest is what kept me from leaving there anytime soon. Upon entering this quaint little shop, we were immediately immersed into a world that I Love. Spices, Spices and more Spices!!! Yeah, I'm that guy that at home, not in public of course, that will put a little spice on my hand and lick it off (to test it of course). I know, but I'm just a spice freak, what can I say! Yeah, give me a good lemon pepper, a blended steak seasoning or even a Kansas City Bbq Rub and I'll gladly give it the "Lance Lick of Approval". Yeah, I'm a Spice Man, & I'm not afraid to admit it. And let me tell you, this place has got spices!! Yeah, there are Jars and Jars, & more Jars of the finest, most incredible spices you can dream of. But on Top of the Spices... There are Oils, Vinegars, Teas, Tea Accessories, Herbal Supplements, Books, and More! And with all that shopping... Why not grab a quick bite alongside a freshly brewed coffee or tea at their mini cafe right on the premises. Heck, we did! (We had the Vanilla Chai Tea Latte) And it was Fire! So what makes this place earn a well deserved 6 star review?? It wasn't just their great product. Or even their beautifully prepared drink. It was their hospitality, their graciousness, and the human connection that we felt that went above the typical customer vs. retailer interaction. The lady who assisted us (forgive me but I forget her name) but she might have been maybe the owner or maybe even manager of the place was so kind, helpful and made our experience exceptional, so thank you for that! With so many great gift ideas and things that we needed for our own household, you know we did some damage and got a few things to take back home. So.... If you are a fan of spices like me, love yourself some tea, are looking for some unique, fun gift ideas or just want to enjoy a nice, quaint shop where the service hopefully exceeds your expectations like it did for me... Then take my highly recommended suggestion and get over to the... Spice of Life in Downtown Paso Robles ASAP!!!

Our friend ordered the asparagus salad and croquettes, while my wife chose the rosemary garlic grilled prawns and roasted heirloom carrots.
